24.01.2022 SHOTS FIRED!! If you call yourself a "fat loss expert" and sell or endorse fat burners then clearly you have no idea and you're in the industry for the wrong reasons. I see a lot of coaches online who have a huge following (slightly jealous whatever) and their page is just full of cringy selfies with their precious "stack" coupled with their discount code.... Unfortunately a lot of you buy into this thinking that they too use these supplements and that's why they look, ShReDdEd. For one most of these morons are on a "different" stack and I'm talking about the females too. They are as equally guilty of this. It would be okay if they were honest but they don't want you to know this otherwise you probably won't buy their products or services! If you buy a program or meal plan off these dip shits and it has a supplement list on there, tell em to eat a dick. That's not how you coach someone. 23.01.2022 Holiday mode - ON Which means I generally DO NOT workout. Most PTs and fitness fanatics would have a heart attack if they went even 3 days without putting on their active wear. Not me. I don’t give a shit, why? Let me explain.... Nothing drastic is going to happen to your physique or health in just a couple weeks (unless you go on a 14 day bender). If only I had a dollar the amount of times I told clients and friends to take a complete break from gym for 2 weeks to have them freak out and continue to workout to only drive themselves into the ground. It does your body good to give it a break. It will also restore its glycogen (carb stores for energy later ), muscle recovers fully, less stress on the body, more time spent with family and friends, enjoying foods that you normally wouldn’t eat, back off on the tracking will give your brain time to also relax. You see their is more to life then four walls and a bunch of equipment. I did nothing in regards to working out but kept active as much as I could. I don’t look THAT bad do I? There is no fun with abs anyway. I’m much happier here thanks. Enjoy your holidays and get back into a better routine later. 21.01.2022 Happy International Fitness Day! One of my favourite things to do is workout outside when its a beautiful sunny day What does FITNESS mean to YOU?... I use to treat my workouts as more of how you looked but as time went on I learnt that its more about feeling good then looking good. I don't train to be "aesthetic" anymore and have really shifted my mindset and even training well away from that scene. I think its okay to train to look good but don't forget about how you really feel. I actually like @crossfit philosophy where it's more about performance and being able to do everything moderately good. Powerlifters are the best at lifting heavy weight but couldn't run a mile if it was to save their life. A marathon runner is the best at cardiovascular fitness and could outrun most but when it comes to strength they would really struggle! I've always liked the idea of treating fitness as a way to optimise your Body for life. You can run a mile and be comfortable, lift heavy weight if you wanted to and be able to have the ability to do a overhead squat (still can't workin on it k). 19.01.2022 Ever since I started as a personal trainer and even before then I always heard people say "drinking diet coke is worse!" but no one really told me why, they just said "it's full of crap" or "artificial sweeteners are bad for you" again no one told me why or exactly which one... There are several artificial sweeteners but the main ones are: Aspartame... Sucralose Saccharine Artificial sweeteners are a replacement for sugar that provides a sweet taste but without any calories. This can be extremely helpful for those trying to lose weight but enjoy that sweat goodness. However there is still that stigma that AS are bad for you. Well it may have come from this study https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25231862/ Which administered high doses of saccharin in humans, then transplanted faeces to two rodents, this caused some damage to their intestinal microbes which lowered their tolerance to glucose. Media took this as "DIET SODA CAUSES DIABETES!" This of course caused a stir and people ran with it. This was blown way out of proportion and since have stuck with people when AS is brought up in conversation. To give you peace of mind saccharin is almost non existent in food and drinks. If you were to see saccharin on the label then it would be in very small amounts. No where near the dosage that was in the study. The key point to this is DOSAGE. The amount of aspartame and sucralose found in drinks is very minimal and it would take more than 18 cans a day every day for 20 years to even see any damage. The truth is there needs to be more research to secure both side of the story. For now though AS is perfectly safe in small dosage. I know what you are thinking, why take it at all if high dosage showed dangerous effects? Well so does over consuming water in one sitting... Has this changed your mind about artificial sweeteners? 19.01.2022 A lot of people are going to be like "Er Chris everybody knows its 8-12 reps". The problem with that is that going to that rep range isn't going to automatically put you into "muscle building" mode. What we do know is it doesn't matter what rep you take your lifts. What matters is what level of exertion did you take your muscles to.... Let me explain. At Lodestar Academy we work on RPE training. RPE means Rate of perceived exertion. This is a scale from 1 to 10. 10 being a maximum output, no rep could no longer be completed. A 5 RPE would be atleast 5 reps left in the tank so a very moderate output of effort. An 8 would be fairly pushing yourself but leaving about 2 reps in the tank... I think you get the picture. In order to create muscle you must push your current muscle to the point where it says "okay we need more muscle fibres for this bad boy" more muscle fibres are bought in to help adapt to the heavy load. But there is a sweet spot. Pushing your muscle to absolute failure isn't necessary when it comes to increasing in size. Fatiguing your muscle is one thing but fatiguing your energy is another. An 8 or a 9 RPE seems to be that sweet spot we are talking about. So it doesn't matter what rep you take your lifts it more about how much you are exerting your muscle to want to recruit more. Things to note. Progressive overload Time under tension And RPE. The heavier you go the less reps you will do the lighter you will go the more reps you need to do to get the same level of exertion. So it comes down to what you like to do and how you are feeling. If you don’t feel upto the task of pushing yourself then drop to like a 6 or 7 but when you are feeling super then take your efforts to an 8-9 RPE. If on your workout it's says 10 reps don't just stop at 10 because it says... keep going until you know you are pushing your reps and then adjust your weight until the 10th rep is an 8 or 9 RPE. 14.01.2022 Before you lay your reactions READ THIS. As much as this is a vote on image I want you to think more on what is behind each photo. The guy on the left trains 9 times, 6 days a week. He follows a very rigorous meal plan and does not allow any deviation. He is obsessed with the way he looks and will do anything to get that "shredded" appearance. Thumbs up guy never went out to socialise as he had training to do in the morning and ate at a certain time each day to ensure he m...et his calorie requirements. He was tired, hungry and exhausted but fucking ripped. All he thought about was eating until he was full but his goal was more important, he wanted to look like the guys on Instagram. He was however was proud of his physique. Dude on the right trains 4 times, 4 days a week. He is very active, walks to and from the beach as much as he can. His diet isn't strict but only allows some calorie rich meals each week. He priorities protein but doesn't count calories. Love Heart man isn't obsessed with how he looks but likes to keep his body "in shape" his main goal is to FEEL fit and healthy. If he feels tired or exhausted he will skip gym to help his body recover as health is his main priority now. This guy deleted all Instagram male influences as he recognised them as an unhealthy and unrealistic role models. He learnt that having a six pack isn't a true goal to have but having an active and healthy lifestyle is. Now that you know both stories which one do you prefer? Does a six pack make you look more attractive? Does it make you more qualified if you are a coach? When clients tell me their goal and mention a 6 pack or even just abs I tell them upfront what they need to do to achieve this because as a coach and someone that has experience I know what it takes. 9 times out of 10 my clients tell me they don't want to count calories, follow a strict diet, train everyday or sacrifice their treats or wine. So to me it's not about the six pack that you want its more about being confident in their own body and having some kind of fit and healthy structure in their life. If you want a six pack then you must be willing to have what comes with it. So, what is your goal?

14.01.2022 If you are sick the general rule of thumb is to rest and recover but for some missing a gym workout could mean "loSiNg gAiNs" or the idea of sweating it out can help your illness. If this pandemic has taught us anything it's that if you have flu like symptoms then you need to isolate yourself as best you can and don't cough everywhere!! So please stay away from the gym. Does exercise help or does it make it worse?... If you have above neck symptoms like runny nose, cough, congested nose or sore throat then a moderate intense exercise session my help but if you take it up a notch and total exhaust yourself you will find this actually depresses your immune system not elevate. That is why it's important if you are doing high intense training regularly that you need to recover effectively or else it will catch upto you and you're more likely to catch a virus. Please stay away from me and the gym if you have a cough or flu. I didn’t and to some it may not sound like a big deal but for me it’s part of the problem men face when it comes to our mental health. It was great to see that a lot of people were showing their support with men’s mental health day because we (men) need a lot of it right now and that’s why it’s as equally important to celebrate being a man. #internationalmensday is a day for us men to be ...proud and happy to be a man as we should everyday but today was for us. 12.01.2022 SWEAT IT OUT OR ANOTHER HORSE SHIT CLAIM? Saunas rid the body of heavy metals and toxins. Hooooooold up.... Let’s talk about sweats role first. Sweat is mainly water and salt. It’s function is to control our body temperature. Studies did mention some traces of heavy metals in sweat TRACES which in the science community means fuck all. Definitely not enough to claim Saunas detox the body. It does not. So who’s role is it to detox our body? Our kidneys and liver and they do a damn good job. These so called detoxing protocols such as teas, shakes, cleanses, charcoal and the sauna all have cherry picked information from studies and turned a blind eye to what they actually stated. They have got hold of this information and just ran with it. Then unfortunately sold it to you for cash dollars. So what can we do to help the kidney and liver? Just eat responsibly and have a wide variety of whole foods and drink plenty of water. Boring huh? I know you want a magical solution but that’s all you need to do, the body will do the rest. 11.01.2022 Mindset is EVERYTHING The way you react to situations, conflicts, challenges, relationships, criticism all comes down to mindset and it also has control of motivation, discipline, habits, your attitude, ability to adapt and learn. I think you get the point but a lot of people say this but don’t particularly understand it fully.... We have control of how we react to things. If someone upsets you it’s important to be aware that you always ALWAYS have a choice. Do you dwell, hate and seek revenge? Or do you accept and maybe even try to understand them? This world would be in a better place if we were just to stop and listen to understand and not to react. We are so quick to judge these days without even taking to time to understand. If you are running and it gets to the point of you feeling like you are dying are you dying or is it your mindset that’s beginning to fail? @davidgoggins says we give 40% most of the time and it’s very rare that we go all in. So next time you feel like giving up, dig deep and find another 5, 10% more and keep pushing. There are some things that we can’t control, life will always throw curve balls but how we react is in our control and the choice we make next. We are very capable of doing amazing and wonderful things. Use it to fulfil your full potential and help others. Wise Word Of Chris

11.01.2022 What you must understand is that when you step on the scales it measures everything. So if you were to take a dump before getting on the scales you are going to be lighter. The water you just drank and the food you ate is still inside you digesting. So to weigh yourself once a week is not going to give you an accurate representation of your true body weight.... The best weigh (pun haaa) to get a better reading is to whey yourself each morning after going to the toilet and taking the average for the week. Some may think "that's a bit obsessive". It's not if you understand that your body weight will fluctuate every single day and don't take the number on the scale too seriously. Don't bloody freak out if the scale went up a kilo or 2, relax. Make sure you are taking photos as well and even measurements if you really want to track your progress. The scales is only 1 way and it doesn't tell you much at all. Ciao

10.01.2022 First off. What the fruit is L-carnitine? Carnitine transports long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria to be oxidised as energy. Basically fat for fuel Carnitine is found in most animal products. Red meats predominantly. So if you are vegan you will obtain significantly less but still doesn't warrant any supplementation. Even if your diet is poor on carnitine consumption you still won't have issues with carnitine content as the kidneys conserve carnitine.... Despite the common trend amongst gym goers and the hype surrounding supplementing carnitine there is little to no evidence to suggest it improves exercise performance, recovery or metabolic functions when exercising. Summary. It's a load of crap that you need to supplement this unless you have some kind of medical disorder. 10.01.2022 "Turn fat into muscle" How many times have you heard that? Better yet from a coach This is impossible. ... Fat and muscle tissue are very different. It would be like turning pizza into a salad... ain't going to happen. However when people say this I assume they are talking about losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time, which is possible. If you are a complete beginner to hypertrophy and do not have the muscle development there then you can lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Annnnnnnd also if you are on roids Once you have the foundation there it becomes almost impossible for this to happen. You can maintain the muscle that is already there but building muscle and losing fat will need a bit of help... If you do not have the muscle there and you are wanting to lose fat. I would look towards building muscle first. I know this will mind fuck you but this will help you lose fat more efficiently and you'll look your best once you have stripped the fat away! 09.01.2022 How To Assess And Fix Your Own Squat

08.01.2022 I don't know how many times I've heard and seen PTs advise their client's in taking ACV in the morning to help with fat loss. This is pure laziness from the coach and just following what they've been told and not actually looking into the evidence behind such claims. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR... ACV is made by crushing the apples, squeezing the liquid out, adding yeast and bacteria. Not unique to the apple as this process is typical for making vinegar from grapes, potatoes, wine etc. what makes ACV so special is the "mother" that is found in the unfiltered version that looks like a scoby which apparently contains enzymes and "other stuff" that has health benefits but funnily enough you will get the same health benefits if there is any from just eating an actual apple further more the ACV you buy doesn't actually contain the mother... In regards to fat loss the vinegar is what seems to cause the health benefits according to most research. One study did show signs of fat loss benefits but correlation does not mean causation. The Variables in this study were too much to pin point ACV as the main cause. As we all know you cannot burn fat without being in a calorie deficit. One study showed an increase in satiety (a feeling of fullness) but this seemed to be due to people feeling nausea after consumption. Increasing your fibre during the day will simply give the same or even a greater affect. Apple Cider Vinegar's antiglycemic effect is dependant on the type of carbohydrate you consume. Ironically it is mostly effective when consuming complex carbs and not responsive at all when consuming your more refined sugars where you would want it to work the most. Catch 22! It is also known for its digestion benefits from the prebiotic found in mother that promotes healthy bacteria in the gut but again as mention eating the actual apple will have more of the same benefits with added nutrients including fibre. I'm also referring to the lazy person who watches TV and eats Macca's vs the active person who gets up early and goes for a run/walk or just makes sure they do some kind of exercise every day to be an active person. Everything you do, every bitchy remark or rude response, evertime you greet a stranger, every food choice, everything is towards the type of person you want to... be.
