07.01.2022 Hello Brethren, A few months ago, the Director of Ceremonies Baton went missing from Brae Dale lodge in Belgrave. It was the original DCs Baton from the Ranges Memorial lodge, and used in the Ranges Memorial consecration in 1952. It has immense sentimental value to our lodge, and to a highly respected member of our lodge in particular. Can you please check your cases etc in case it was accidentally placed in there by yourself or someone else? ... A reward of $250 is on offer for its return. No questions asked! It’s not a particularly ornate Baton. It is engraved with the Ranges Memorial Lodge name and consecration year. If you think you may have it or know where it is, please contact Doug on 0415 718 101 See more

05.01.2022 Happy birthday to our district coordinator, Neville Wiggins
04.01.2022 Brethren, The health and wellbeing of our membership is of paramount importance. We are in uncharted territory and a high proportion of our membership demographic is within the highest risk group for the contracting of COVID-19. Our government has recognised the severity of this pandemic and taken steps to halt all non-essential activities and meetings that have in excess of 500 attendees. This situation is unfolding rapidly, with further announcements from Federal and State ...Continue reading
03.01.2022 Copied from Freemasons Vic. There are many Freemasons who have retained their membership but have not attended for some time. Many of these Brethren have got out of the habit of attending Lodge or have a fear of having forgotten the Lodge customs and protocols. How To Members of the Lodge should be asked to call a friend who has not attended a Lodge meeting recently and invite them to attend Lodge with them. The Lodge member... initiating the invite should pick his friend up, take him to Lodge, sit with him and introduce him to other Lodge members. Every effort should be made to make the friend feel welcome in the Lodge. Follow up with him after the meeting to make sure he enjoyed himself. Other tips include: Make sure the friend still has his regalia and if not arrange a borrowed set Run over the signs and tokens with the friend particularly if he is stale on these Consider doing a Rusty Trowel Ceremony where the ceremony is done in the Lodge room and consists of a review of basic Masonic ritual. Included should be a review of: All Signs, Tokens, Words and how they should be given. Review of closing and opening in each degree. Steps for each degree. Addressing the Master Entering and retiring from an open Lodge and not crossing between East and Altar Follow Up Follow up is the most important part of this tool. Proper follow up encourages the friend to become active. See more
02.01.2022 THE COFFIN A new Worshipful Master in a small town spent the first four days making personal visits to each of the members, inviting them to come to his first Lodge meeting. The following Thursday the Lodge was all but empty. Accordingly, the Worshipful Master placed a notice in the local newspapers, stating that, because the Lodge was dead, it was everyone's duty to give it a decent Masonic burial. The funeral would be held the following Monday afternoon, the notice said. ...Morbidly curious, a large crowd turned out for the "funeral." In front of the Altar, they saw a closed coffin, smothered in flowers. After the Chaplain delivered the eulogy, he opened the coffin and invited his Brethren to come forward and pay their final respects to their dead Lodge. Filled with curiosity as to what would represent the corpse of a "dead Lodge," all the Brethren eagerly lined up to look in the coffin. Each "mourner" peeped into the coffin then quickly turned away with a guilty, sheepish look. In the coffin, tilted at the correct angle, was a large mirror. Remember the obligation we all took. Attend and support your Lodge. See more
01.01.2022 Charity is my favourite part about being a Freemason. There are about 8000 of us in Victoria, and we give away about $2 million a year to hospitals, schools, an...d lots of other needy causes. We don't bang our drum a lot, but we do like to help people, and NOT get caught doing it. Perhaps we should tell our story a bit more. We are members of Lodges. This is a photo of some of the blokes in my Lodge. We meet once a month, we share discussion on how to be better husbands, fathers and citizens. Then we have a meal, a wine or a soft drink, a few laughs, and plan a few more good deeds. I have been a member of my Lodge for 41 years. I have some really good mates. Their backgrounds include a baker, a copper, a bricklayer, a mechanic, a cleaning contractor, some self-employed guys ... they even let in a grumpy old newspaperman. Once a year, we rotate jobs. It's called an Installation Night , and it's a big celebration. Mates from other areas come to visit us. I am really proud to be one of these men, trying to be better men.
