15.01.2022 For the March 2019 meeting of Lodge Amalthea, we had the first part of the Masonic documentary, Terra Masonica Around the World in 80 Lodges. Terra Masonica is by the award-winning Director Brother Tristan Bourlard, author photographer and producer of many historical documentaries, including the Masonic movie, The Scottish Key. This movie is available for viewing in the Freemasons Victoria on-line education portal Entered Apprentice/MAP 1 section. The documentary Terra ...Masonica is a tour of 80 lodges from around the World, and Lodge Amalthea is viewing the television version, which is in 2 one-hour parts. In the first part shown at the May meeting, the documentary traces the spread of Freemasonry around the World from Lodge Kilwinning in Scotland, to the first Lodge in the USA, to southernmost lodge in the world at the south at Cape Horn on Tierra del Fuego, at the tip of South America in Ushuaia, Argentina. And to lodges as far to the north as the tip of Hammerfest, Norway, one of the northernmost towns in the world in the region of Finnmark, where in some months it is dark for 23 hours of the day, and brothers drive for hours through ice and snow to get to lodge. Along the journey, Bro Tristan meets masons from all walks of life, ordinary everyday Freemasons who put Freemasonry in the context of their daily lives, and how they live the ideals of being a Freemason. Our meeting was well attended by lodge members, including VWBro Keith Murray (GM), and with a sprinkling of esteemed visitors, such as Bro Michael Badon-Powell.
