25.01.2022 HAZARD REDUCTION NOTIFICATION - FRIDAY 28 AUGUST NSW RFS crews will undertake a hazard reduction burn at Engadine on Friday 28 August 2020. The 5 hectare burn (...see map) is being conducted to the rear of Arkana and Albion Place at Engadine, subject to weather conditions. The burn aims to reduce fuel in the area by protecting approximately 40 homes. Should the current dry trend continue, it is expected a larger hazard reduction burn will be conducted on the following weekend along the western side of Woronora Heights. This activity will see changed traffic conditions on Bundanoon Road and the use of a firefighting helicopter. Further updates will be provided as necessary.

25.01.2022 The two hazard reduction burns scheduled for Woronora Heights and Barden Ridge tomorrow (Sat 5/9) have been postponed due to the rain.

17.01.2022 FACT: There will never be as many fire trucks as there are houses. Do not depend on a fire truck being available at your home. But if you and your home are well prepared, you stand a better chance of surviving a bush fire. There are simple things you can do around your home to prepare it for a bush fire, like keeping the grass low and having a cleared area around your home. Learn more and get ready at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare #getreadyweekend #nswrfs

15.01.2022 With steady winds from the north, smoke from a hazard reduction burn being conducted on North Head (Manly) is being blown over the shire. This smoke may persist... for some time under this weather pattern. A small fire started earlier today in the vicinity of the clay target club off Heathcote Road, but was quickly brought under control by the NSW RFS brigades that attended. The Kangaroo Ridge fire at Sutherland remains under control. For live updates, we encourage community members to download the 'Fires Near Me' app and set up a 'watch zone' which will alert you to fires around a specified area.
