25.01.2022 All of us from the team at Lofty Coaches wish our valued clients and friends a very Merry Christmas!

25.01.2022 Do you know the rules with regard to the use of fog lights? Unfortunately it appears many motorists don’t, with SA Police keen to remind drivers of their legal ...requirements. Not only is it dark in the early evening at this time of year, but fog is a regular feature of some areas of the state with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting more patches in the Adelaide Hills this weekend. While Police encourage and support the use of fog and headlights in conditions of poor visibility and fog it is an offence if you forget to turn them off in clear conditions as it creates a hazard in dazzling other drivers. The Australian Road Rules (Reg 217) covering the use of fog lights states: "the driver of a vehicle fitted with front fog lights or rear fog lights must not operate the fog lights unless the driver is in fog or other hazardous weather conditions causing reduced visibility." "front fog lights" mean a light (other than a headlight) fitted to the front of a vehicle to improve illumination of the road in fog, snowfall, heavy rain or dust clouds. "rear fog light" means a light (other than a brake light, a tail light, a number plate light or a reversing light) fitted to the rear of a vehicle to make the vehicle more easily visible from the rear in conditions of poor visibility. Many European cars have rear fog lights that illuminate when the front ones are switched on, and again, while a useful safety option in poor visibility they will dazzle a following driver in clear conditions. Police urge motorist to pay attention to the conditions, and remember to switch their fog lights off when weather conditions improve. The expiation for using fog lights when not permitted is $238, plus a $60 Victim of Crime levy. See more

23.01.2022 Violet found a fresh cowpad to roll in this morning. According to her it was just an opportunity to model for a reminder sign for the drivers. A bit sus’ if you ask me!

23.01.2022 Our yard supervisor Violet who is a stickler for safety. As an adoption greyhound she has fitted right in with the Lofty team, providing a morale boost when she isn't keeping vehicles to the strict 10kph yard limit!

22.01.2022 The weather might have been decidedly Winter-like but that didn’t deter the year 4 & 5 students from Nairne Primary School from enjoying their day at Monarto. These students have done their homework and are very knowledgeable about the animals they came to see. Our driver learnt a lot from them!

22.01.2022 School is back in SA. Violet says keep an eye out for the kids!

20.01.2022 Coming home after a long day........

20.01.2022 Police will be out in force across the state for Operation Return to School as Term Two gets underway tomorrow (30 April). The operation will run all day Monday... during school drop off and pick up times and will focus on speeding and pedestrian safety around schools to ensure a safe environment for children as they return to school. Police are urging motorists to use extra caution when driving through school zones tomorrow, reminding motorists that the speed limit in school zones is 25km/h when children are present or when lights are flashing.

17.01.2022 It’s foggy out there! Driving around this morning, it was good to see most cars with lights on. Sunday mornings in the Hills are also popular with cyclists and most of those had lights and high visibility clothing. However some road users still forget to put their lights on. Even worse if you are a cyclist in dark clothing. Violet always has her high visibility vest on when she is out in poor conditions. Be like Violet. Be safe and be seen in the fog!

17.01.2022 They’re home again. Thanks everyone. Those of you local to Mt Barker area and beyond please keep an eye out for these little wombats. Wombat Awareness Organisation is not far down the road from us and do a great job.

16.01.2022 Although she digs her new T-shirt safety vest, Violet decided not to play out in the heat too much today. Be like Violet, stay cool!

16.01.2022 Our operators Steven, Michael and Kirsten (behind the camera) taking in the sun at the Parade ground.

16.01.2022 Spectacular artwork underway at Greenacres Library and Council Offices by talented illustrator Sarah Boese. Something nice for our drivers to enjoy whilst waiting for their passengers.

14.01.2022 Today we took a load of wonderful volunteers from within the Mt Barker District Council area down to participate in the National Volunteering Week March in Adelaide. What a fabulous celebration of all the people who give up their time to help others in so many ways!

11.01.2022 Our safety supervisor Violet is keen to help spread the word about safety on the road (especially when dealing with large vehicles.) Are you up to scratch with our roundabout rules in South Australia? Here are five common scenarios that many people don’t get right. These appeared in RAA’s SAmotor magazine, (one of Violet’s favourite reads) and we think more people need to know.

11.01.2022 Checking out the Flinders University Innovation Centre Tonsley Campus whilst Cornerstone College Students visit for Careers Week.

10.01.2022 The team at Lofty would like to wish all our clients and friends a safe Christmas season. Be safe on the roads, and.....

10.01.2022 Even in the suburbs of Adelaide you can be surprised by a Koala. This little fella caught the eye of our driver who had just delivered a bus load of children from Bridgewater Primary School to the Burnside Swimming Pool for lessons. He obviously was in no mood for a swim!

07.01.2022 What fabulous weather to visit Lot 100 and take a look behind the scenes and try some of their incredible local food and wines/beer/cider/gin/fruit juices. They really have it all in one place! Thanks for sneak peek guys. Lofty’s can highly recommend Lot 100 for a spectacular day out. Whether it’s fine dining or a picnic on the grass with the kids, or something in between. Why not book a coach to take you there and home again safely.

05.01.2022 It was a pleasure last week to once again transport the lovely top performing beauty experts of Jurlique from Hong Kong, Thailand, America, Singapore, Australia and Japan. They toured the flagship store in Rundle Mall, their brand new production facility at Mt Barker and the Jurlique farm at Mylor to get a ground up appreciation of Jurlique’s beautiful biodynamic products. In between they were treated to visits to historic Hahndorf, a koala cuddle at Cleland, and a concert at Ukaria Cultural Centre. They also kindly invited their driver to join them for lunch and the concert. What a lovely experience of our Adelaide Hills to share with overseas guests.
