24.01.2022 R-Licence holders, have you tried storing a digital version of your Written Permission to hunt on public land on a mobile device? The process to book a NSW Stat...e forest hunt has not changed; however hunters are now able to store a Written Permission digitally as a PDF, screenshot or image. All you need is a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet! There’s no specific format to use, you simply need to produce a legible copy of the first 2 pages of your Written Permission pages requested by a Compliance Officer. Please note: a screenshot of the online portal is not sufficient. You must either download your Written Permission as a PDF or image or screenshot the first two pages. If you wish, you may continue to print a physical Written Permission to take with you hunting, however you no longer need to sign the physical copy. If you are having trouble accessing or saving your Written Permission on your mobile device, check out our troubleshooting tips on our website - www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/hunting/online-services
24.01.2022 SOUTH EAST FOREST UPDATE Forestry Corporation of NSW (FCNSW) has re-opened Glenbog and Gnupa State Forests. We are working with FCNSW to re-open more fore...sts to hunting as soon as conditions improve and it is deemed safe to return. Check out our NSW Public Land Hunting map to see which forests are currently open - http://bit.ly/NSWHuntingStateForestMap. PLEASE NOTE: FCNSW may update their closure list at any time and it's each hunters responsibility to know whether there is a Forest closure in force before you hunt. You can monitor the current list of State Forest closures on the FCNSW website - www.forestrycorporation.com.au//widespread-closures-bushfi
24.01.2022 We have teamed up with Australian Survey Research to conduct surveys to find out what hunters know about Victorian game hunting laws, firearms safety and good h...unting practice. Game Licence holders who have provided us with email addresses and/or mobile phone numbers will be invited to participate. If you have been invited, you will receive an email or an SMS on Tuesday, 3 March 2020. The survey closes on Tuesday, 17 March 2020. Your participation and feedback is important, as it will help to inform our future research, education and training materials for hunters. Invitees are encouraged to take the survey, to help us improve hunter education for all Victorian hunters. Summary results from the survey will be available later this year at gma.vic.gov.au

19.01.2022 Hunting Exclusion Zones R-Licence holders, when hunting in a NSW State forest you may see hunting exclusion zones on your hunting maps or encounter a sign (...pictured) that identifies an area of the forest where hunting is not permitted. Hunting exclusion zones are identified areas where forest activity (such as tree harvesting or other forest work), high visitor use or other recreational events are occurring. Hunting is excluded from these areas to minimise the risk to hunters, forest workers and other users. Exclusion zones explained: General Hunting Exclusion Zones (indicated in pink on your maps) Hunting is not permitted in a General Hunting Exclusion Zone. You are allowed to travel through a General Hunting Exclusion Zones if you hold a Written Permission, however your firearms and hunting equipment must be securely stored. Total Public Exclusion Zones (indicted in red on your maps) You may not enter or travel through a Total Public Exclusion Zone at any time.

18.01.2022 This recipe for Duck Spring Rolls from our team mate Ray was just too good not to share! Duck Spring Rolls Ingredients ... 2 duck breasts, thinly sliced 3 tsp sesame oil 250g capsicum, mixed, de-seeded and finely sliced 1 carrot, finely sliced 2 small red chillies, finely chopped 2 tsp ginger, peeled and chopped 1 garlic clove, minced 1 tsp soy sauce 75g snow peas, thinly sliced 175g beansprouts 25g sesame seeds 1 lemon, zest and juice 1 lime, zest and juice 1 orange, zest and juice 4 spring roll pastry sheets 1 egg, beaten vegetable oil, for deep frying Method 1. Place your wok on a medium to high heat and add the duck. When the fat starts to render, remove the duck from the wok with a slotted spoon and wipe the wok clean. 2. Heat the sesame oil in the wok and add the capsicum, carrot, chilli, grated ginger and soy sauce. Stir fry for 2-3 minutes. 3. Next, add the garlic, snow peas, bean sprouts, sesame seeds, citrus zest and juice and heat until the duck is cooked through. Combine well and transfer into a bowl, wipe the wok clean. 4. Heat the deep fryer or large pot of oil to 180C. 5. Lightly brush the spring roll pastry sheets with the beaten egg. Spoon the stir-fried mixture into the centre of each one and roll up, tucking in the ends before you make the final layer. 6.Deep-fry the spring rolls until golden brown, remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel. 14.01.2022 It's prime tick time! Take care to avoid tick bites and the range of permanent complications that they bring with them, while you are out hunting. Ticks inject ...a toxin that may cause local irritation or a mild allergic reaction, and in some cases may cause anaphylactic reactions, which require immediate medical intervention. Be sure to read the Department of Health’s information regarding tick bite prevention and how to remove ticks before heading out hunting - www1.health.gov.au//p/Content/ohp-tick-bite-prevention.htm
14.01.2022 Ok all. The night everyone has been waiting for is almost upon us. It is expected that we will live stream the ballot draw from East Gippsland ADA meeting in Ba...irnsdale. This will be via ADA Facebook, SSAA Vic and possibly GMA VIC ( to be confirmed). Our best guess is it should start between 6.30 and 7 pm 12th December. The only reason this wouldn’t occur is if we have a tech issue or signal problems. Good luck all and tune in if you can.
13.01.2022 OK - there's no fire in your local State Forest. So why does it remain closed? Damage from recent bushfires is extensive, particularly at ground level due to t...he effects of drought & soil dryness. Even in areas where tree canopies appear green & healthy, there may be bridges, roads & signage that have been burned out. Dangerous trees, especially those with hollow bases that have further burned, may remain after fires have passed. It's important to remember: - Burned trees are dangerous & can drop at any time. - Burned bridges are dangerous, block access &/or cause accidents. - Burned roads are destabilised & hazardous. Damaged under-road pipework can collapse at any time. - Burned signage makes it harder to navigate. We are working on all these issues, but it will take some time. We appreciate everyone's patience & will open forests as soon as we can ensure that visitors will #staysafe.

ADA has bee...n the only major hunting organisation to grow strongly through the pandemic and that growth will drive more campaigns and better outcomes for hunters. Wishing everyone a happy and safe Christmas period and looking forward to a cracker of a 2021! See more

06.01.2022 With the Government moving to Stage 2 restrictions from Midnight tonight it is clear that conducting ADA meetings and most (if not all) ADA events will be impra...ctical in the short term. Some local branch hunting programs are still running - refer to your local branch for details. We will keep you informed as the situation progresses and continue to provide information to inform, educate and entertain on the ADA website. For the most up to date information you should always refer to Federal and State Government websites.

We have recruited 12 new staff, published new... education, research and compliance strategies, held a number of education events, opened new offices in Traralgon and Lakes Entrance, visited communities impacted by poaching and conducted several research projects. Next year we will be launching a new online licensing system, conducting more research and education events and we will continue to promote sustainability and responsibility in game hunting in Victoria. Thank you to everyone who hunted responsibly in 2020. For information on game hunting in Victoria, visit www.gma.vic.gov.au Photo by Sean Passarin.

01.01.2022 A 110-pound deer provided about thirty thousand calories of energy and five thousand grams of protein. Of course, that deer has a potent spiritual significance... as well, but that potency was supported by the universal usefulness of its flesh. We need to eat to survive. We need to kill to eat.
