15.01.2022 Hi everyone, we are looking for someone who would like to visit a lady in a nursing home in the Greenbank/Browns Plains area, who does not get any visits. She was born in Italy and speaks Italian with only a few words of English. We would love to have someone who speaks Italian and would have the time to visit this lady at least once a fortnight to provide companionship and a friendship for the long term. Please Note that this is a volunteering role. If you are interested, please contact Logan Community Visitors Scheme on 3808 7233 See more

14.01.2022 Helping Your Neighbours During COVID-19 With COVID-19 impacting lives worldwide, social distancing and self-isolation will be a challenge for many people. At times like this, we need to support one another and show compassion to those who need it. A good place to start is in your own neighbourhood. ... Here you can find resources, ideas and information to assist you to create connections and support your neighbours - before, during and after COVID-19. Together we can build a more connected and inclusive community. Ideas about how to do this that's not face-to-face include: connect through your local social network (or create one if there isn't one) start an over-the-phone movie or book club host virtual happy hours with friends and family bust out some pen and paper and write some old-school letters to people offer supermarket runs or meal delivery to neighbours who might be self-isolating give gift certificates for local businesses donate to GIVIT or Foodbank meet virtually / online with your neighbours for a cuppa and a chat. Download a free COVID-19 connection card to put into your neighbour’s mailbox. Include your phone number and how you can help (i.e. shopping, running errands or a friendly chat). https://communityservices.cmail19.com/t/d-l-mjhght-jjjttkkt

14.01.2022 Just to let you know, if anyone has any queries about COVID let me know. I do work within the aged care area in community welfare and I am sent updates everyday, if you want more information than just listening to FB please let me know. Also I am still running the aged care navigator....so if you know someone who needs some extra help who are older in these times put them on to me and I can try to help them in this time of need!.....And yes my work has got me back working due to the lack of help for people.

05.01.2022 Hi everyone, for those of you who want to there is a learner portal for Covid infection control. I believe that all of our Community Visitors should at least complete the first module. I believe this would be good as to show your facility that you have completed it and understand what is expected. I am getting together a working booklet that I will send to you all also. For those wanting to have a look at the Governments Covid training please click on the link below: https://covid-19training.gov.au/register
