25.01.2022 Our first guest speaker for the year will be Peter Ludlow who will be sharing the intriguing history of Mud Island. We family historians often talk about skeletons in the cupboard but here are skeletons in the mud! Members, family and visitors are all invited.
25.01.2022 Happy 90th Birthday Alan
24.01.2022 I’m sure it will come as no surprise to everyone that our society has closed the research rooms and cancelled meetings until the danger of being infected with COVID-19 has passed. It appears that that day will not come until many months have passed. When it does, we will be sure to let you know. In the meantime, keep safe by observing all of the physical distancing and hygiene procedures required to stay safe, enjoy the chance to catch up on all of the online researching available, and indulge in whatever other hobbies you have.
21.01.2022 In the interest of the health of our members during this health crisis, The Management Committee has decided to temporarily cancel all group activities, including having the research rooms open and any meetings. This decision is in force for the next 2 weeks at which time the committee will re-examine the situation and decide on our best course of action going into the future. We anticipate that this will probably mean that the next General Meeting will be cancelled. A definite decision on that will be made in 2 weeks time and members notified.
19.01.2022 Well, we got through our first open week after the CoVid-19 Closure and everything seems to be going well. Remember, if you would like to visit, our 3 open days are Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm. It is best to ring and book and bring your own cup. Also, if you think you might be working closely with someone else on a computer, we recommend that you bring a mask.
18.01.2022 Everyone is invited to our monthly meeting this Saturday, 6 February. Please bring your own snack and cup for morning tea. Tea and coffee will be available.
17.01.2022 We had a great morning listening to stories of historical Brisbane, Thank you Beryl.
17.01.2022 A month has passed and another guest speaker is due! Everyone welcome to hear how exploring local history can sometimes give us insights into our own family history. PLEASE NOTE: The date was incorrect on the first poster. It is now correct.
15.01.2022 Tasty sizzled sausages are on the menu again!
13.01.2022 At last, we are open again... and hope to stay that way! We have processes in place to safeguard our researchers. We'll post more detail about that in the next few days, but, until then, if you would like to visit our rooms it would be best to contact us on 5546 3638 before coming in.
08.01.2022 ROOM CLOSURE To ensure that no one is caught in flood waters, our Research Rooms at the Chambers Flat Community Centre will be closed this Friday and Saturday, 14 & 15 February. We will confirm next week if they are open on Tuesday. STAY SAFE EVERYONE.
08.01.2022 Take advantage of this offer while we are closed because of Covid19 precautions.
06.01.2022 A change is as good as a holiday!
04.01.2022 Sausage Sizzle time again!
02.01.2022 Changes! Changes! Because of the situation in Logan at the present time, we are now restricting our research room days to just Thursday and Friday. As well as that, we now have a rule that all people in the room must be wearing a mask. We apologise for any inconvenience but we are confident that everyone will understand the need to lower the risk to everyone there. Remember to ring in to make a booking (5546 3638) and bring a mask.
01.01.2022 The monthly General Meeting is on this coming Thursday, 4 March. Because of COVID, bring your own cup and snacks for Morning Tea. Tea and coffee are available. Members and guests all welcome.
