22.01.2022 Corona Virus/Anzac Day Update RSL Queensland cares deeply about the welfare of our members and the general public. The Coronavirus pandemic is something that is of great concern to many in our community, particularly of the older generation. We are aware that the World Health Organisation has declared a pandemic, and are waiting on the Australian government’s advice as to how this will affect public gatherings. ... We are actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will follow the advice of the national and Queensland health authorities as it evolves. We are in the process of formulating guidelines for Sub Branches to consider in their planning process for ANZAC Day.

18.01.2022 Good morning one and all We have all been thrown into disarray in the last few weeks and coming to terms with what is happening is hard to comprehend. I would like to thank the committee for passing on information as we receive it whether it be by email or by our newly created Facebook page. If you know of a site that you think our members would like to read please let the treasurer or secretary know and they will only be too pleased to add it for you.... By now you will have been contacted by the Welfare Officer, or you will be in the next few days, to make sure you are all travelling okay and if assistance is required please let Garry or myself know. This is not a time to be worried about things if someone else can be of help. Please stay in touch with friends and family. If anyone would like to become an Advocate now would be a good time to apply to start the course. Welfare Support Officers are always in demand so if you are a people person you may like to consider it eg hospital and home visits, taking veterans to medical appointments or shopping. Anzac Day - In addition to the implementation by RSL Qld and through social media of the Anzac Day service can I ask that those of you who have a flag pole (as we have) show our won’t be beaten attitude and raise and lower the flags at the appropriate times. 6am flag is at half mast Noon/ midday Flag is raised to the peak of the flag mast. At times you may think the information coming through is an overload but we are just trying to keep you abreast of what is going on. I am looking forward to receiving feedback on the draft by-laws that have been sent out for input. AGM - were have been granted an extension for our AGM and submission of end of year information is due by 30 June (I have been asked to wait till 1 June before seeking the extension). Keeping everyone safe through winter is my main concern so I am working towards a Skype setup for August if we are still in self isolation. Defence Newspapers - we are still receiving 5 each of the newspapers so if you would like one it’s first come first served so please call Garry on 0488261916. Remember if you need assistance please contact the Welfare Officer or any of the committee. Thanks and stay safe Judy JL Alterator President
