We know everyone is super excited for tomorrows race event, we are too! = To make sure everyone has a super FUN & SAFE day Skate QLD Speed has issued the following advice: Please do not arrive at the venue before 1:00pm as there is another booking finishing at 1pm and we want to reduce the chance of contact between the two groups. If you do arrive early please wait out in your car.... Please sign in with the QR code that the venue provides at their front door as we need a record of all attending for traceability. Please do not hang out in the foyer. Please only use the foyer as a transition between the car park, or the bathroom. Please maintain a 1.5m distance between household groups when sitting on the grandstand. If you are not on the race track you must social distance as this is considered "off the field of play". Please use hand sanitizer provided at the front door when entering and exiting the stadium. Please bring your own water bottles and do not share these with others. Neale Clancy, the inaugural winner of the trophy, presented Chris with the award this weekend. Unfortunately, well have to wait a little longer to see Australias best skaters battle it out for gold. Skate Australia has announced this week that the National Championships scheduled for January are being postponed. We understand this was a tough decision for the National Speed Executives make, and respect their commitment to the health and wellbeing of the speed skating com...munity. The committee will meet again in January to discuss the potential holding the 2021 National Championships at a later date. "Tough situations build strong people." 15.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE TRAINING CANCELLED DURING 3 DAY LOCKDOWN 3 day lockdown begins on tonight at 6pm (Friday, January 8) until Monday 6pm (January 11). All Logan City Speeds training will be cancelled this weekend and events will be postponed. LIKE, SHARE, TAG to spread the word.... Following a confirmed case of the highly infections UK coronavirus strain, Greater Brisbane will be entering a three-day lockdown. Residents in the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan and Redlands can only leave home for one of these four reasons: 1. To buy essentials like groceries or medications 2. Work or study if you can’t do either from home 3. Exercise 4. Healthcare or to provide help, care or support Residents of these areas must also wear masks everywhere except at home. 10.01.2022 Tour de Brisbane Skate Event GREAT NEWS!! The organisers of Tour de Brisbane have said there is a possibility of including skaters in the event. They need to know approximate numbers and the distance skaters are able to do - 8 km (10km/hr average) or 30 km. (18km/hr average). This is a fantastic opportunity to promote our sport and certainly not to be missed. The more people we have involved the more likely it will be for us to be included in these sorts of events in ...the future. Details we know so far: Date - Sunday 11th April 2021 Start and Finish location - Brisbane Showgrounds, Gregory Terrace, Brisbane. The route has not yet been set, however, it will take into account that most skaters prefer low elevations and smooth surfaces. What can you do right now? 09.01.2022 Training Time Change As of October 9th, Friday night training time will be reduced to 1 hr starting at 6pm and finishing at 7pm. Training session tonight and next week (September 25th and October 2nd) will remain at 1.5 hr session, at the usual time of 5:30pm-7pm. Unfortunately, due to lower than usual attendance, we've had to reduce training time to ensure venue hire fees can be covered. ... We understand this is sad news to our Friday regulars. The exec would like to thank our members who attend this session as your support is greatly appreciated. <3 We have strength in numbers and working as a team, so should more members return to training we can revise this decision.
