21.01.2022 It’s natural to think of water when you hear the word ‘hydration’. Rightly so, hydrating your skin means increasing its water content. If your skin is dehydrated, it can appear flaky, dull and dry. Hydrated skin is smooth, radiant and has an even tone. However, people often tend to confuse dehydrated skin with dry skin and it makes sense - they feel quite similar. Both types feels tight, flaky, itchy and sensitive. Yet the underlying problem is different. ... Dry skin lacks sebum (oils) and dehydrated skin lacks water. Dry skin is mainly genetic (even though the environment can play a small role in this). Dehydrated skin is a skin condition that is easily treatable with the right type of products. Dry skin is constant no matter what the weather is like. The underlying issue is that the skin just doesn't produce enough sebum. Hence, dry skin needs a lot of heavy oil and lipid based thick moisturizers and sometimes even ointments. Dehydrated skin is a result of many factors. These include: changes in weather, pollution, humidity, diet, stress and so many more. It's a skin condition, rather than a skin type. It can be oily but have dry patches. It is easily treatable with products containing a lot of water. This means you must look for products that contain water as the FIRST Ingredient. While hydrating your skin requires you to add water to it, moisturizing your skin implies adding ingredients that lock the water inside. Moisturization and hydration go hand in hand. If you only add water to your skin, it may temporarily feel plump. However, the water will escape from your skin if there is nothing to retain it. Moisturization involves adding ingredients that lock in the moisture and repair your skin’s barrier. This prevents water loss and improves your skin’s texture and health

18.01.2022 What is Collagen? Collagen is a protein found in our bodies. It‘a a major building block for the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and skin, aswell as being found in other parts of the body also. It's basically a glue that provides structure for the body. What does Collagen do in your body? Even though there are at least 16 types of collagen found in the body, we are going to focus on the 4 main types. ... Type l: Is made of densely packed fibres, providing structure to the skin, bones, tendons, fibrous cartilage, connective tissue and teeth. This makes up about 90% of the body's collagen. Type ll: This is found in elastic cartilage, which cushions your joints and is made of more loosely packed fibres Type lll: This supports the structure of muscles, organs, and arteries. Type lV: This helps with filtration and is found in the layers of your skin. What's good for Collagen? Four of the nutrients that help produce collagen are Vitamin C, proline, glycine and copper. Also, eating high quality protein gives your body the amino acids it needs. What damages Collagen? Smoking actively reduces collagen production, which can impair wound healing and lead to wrinkles Eating too much sugar and refined carbs, because sugar interferes with collagen’s ability to repair itself. Getting too much sunshine. Ultraviolet radiation can reduce collagen production. Some autoimmune disorders, such as lupus, can also damage collagen. There are many different ways to deliver collagen into the body; through food and supplements, but also through facials, such as using chemical peels and laser treatments, and also skin care ingredients, including topical Vitamin C and Retinoids.

03.01.2022 If you are going to do one thing for your skin, make it SPF. SPF protects our skin from harmful UV rays. UVA rays can penetrate to our Dermis layer, causing harm to our collagen and elastin fibres, accelerating ageing. UVB rays can penetrate to our Epirdermis layer where our pigment cells live, causing darkening and dullness of the skin.... You don't have to be out in bright sunshine to be exposed to UV rays, so always remember to wear your SPF #relaxwithlogansbeachsparetreat #warrnambool #3280 #relax #shoplocal #supportsmallbusiness #dayspa #dayspawarrnambool #spapackage #wellness #stressfree #skincare
