23.01.2022 The rain didn’t put a damper on our fantastic rally day today! A big turnout with lots covered across 5 instructional groups as well as the 2nd day of the regional combined training school taking place! Riders refined their skills ahead of their upcoming certificate assessment, as well as taking part in a fun games afternoon where the competition was fierce but funny with a young vs old face off! We were told that there were wins to both teams but apparently the young g...uns gave those oldies a run for their money A big thank you to State Coach Jane who came to host our regional Combined Training School, all the riders made great improvement over the 2 days! Thanks also to Michelle from Hawkesbury Land Services who presented a fascinating talk on weeds to our riders and parents! Thank you to all our instructors, volunteers and riders for a great day! Can’t believe we only have one Rally left for the year! #teamlondonderryponyclub #comeridewithus #ponyclubproud Pony Club NSW Pony Club Australia

23.01.2022 Your Action Photo Judge Judging our #PCAActionShot category in the August 2020 photo competition is the one and only Heath Ryan! Many of you may know Heath as o...ur Pony Club Patron, or perhaps youve even had the chance to meet him at a Pony Club event! Heath is one of Australias most renowned riders and trainers, in the disciplines of both eventing and dressage. Not only was Heath a member of the Australian Dressage team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he has been the assistant eventing coach at three Olympics. At two of these Olympic games (Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000) the eventing team won Gold! Heath has also represented Australia at the World Equestrian Games in the 3-day event. Back on home soil, Heath dedicates much of his time to producing performance horses and training the next generation of Olympic riders. He, and his wife Rozzie, run their breeding and training facility Ryans in Heatherbrae, NSW. We thank Heath for taking the time to support our competition. Theres still time to enter the PCA Photo Competition! See our previous posts for more details or visit our website: https://ponyclubaustralia.com.au/news/online-competitions/ The competition closes August 31.

23.01.2022 **Cancellation of State Championships** It is with enormous regret that Pony Club Association NSW advises of its decision to cancel all 2020 State Championships.... PCANSW had hoped to follow the revised schedule for 2020 to maintain an air of positivity for our sport, regrettably the time has come for us to concede that this is not possible. PCANSW have participated in a number of all-sport briefings with the NSW Government to receive the latest information from NSW Health and the Acting Minister of Sport. The advice at the last meeting was to avoid large, inter-regional championships. On Monday 17th August 2020, PCANSW received the advice of before the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, which requested that all community sport organisations cease any activities that result in overnight stays due to increased risk of COVID transmission in these situations for a period of six (6) weeks commencing 19th August 2020. Three of the re-scheduled State Championship events fell within the six-week period to the which restrictions currently apply, with further events scheduled to occur with the 4 weeks following on from the current restriction. Acknowledging that this is a dynamic situation and recognising that the present restrictions are likely to be extended further, it was felt that the appropriate response would be to cancel all State Championship events for the remainder of 2020. This decision has not been made lightly as PCANSW recognises the broader responsibility we have to contribute positively to stop the transmission of COVID within NSW. PCANSW would like to recognise the enormous effort that goes into the planning and preparation of these events for organising committees, volunteers, competitors, and families. We understand that there will be disappointment because of this decision, however, it was felt that members would benefit most from clear directives for the remainder of 2020. 2020 has been a year that none of us will forget in a hurry, with drought, fires, flood and now COVID so affecting some many of our members, and now the cancellation of State Championships. PCANSW will now re-focus our activities towards providing further training and development opportunities for members for the balance of the year and planning for 2021.

11.01.2022 We hope that you can look back on 2020 and see some positives from a year we won't forget. COVID-19 threw a spanner in the works for many of you, and you all fo...und different ways to cope, including online activities and learning shared by your club or PCA. Many of you embraced our 'Plan-B' online activities, including our National Online Quiz rounds, 10,000 Steps Challenge and photo competition. Sales of the Certificate manuals rose, so many of you kept up with your theory study. We took some time to set up a new website, with many more resources for Members and Clubs. Many of you tried new things - our Discipline of the Month was popular and we enjoyed seeing your photos trying out polocrosse, stockman's challenge, tentpegging and more. These and other resources are now all on our website. www.ponyclubaustralia.com.au Some of you faced fires in what has become known as 'Black Summer'; others faced floods or other threats to homes and grounds. 05.01.2022 Please see below link for an update from the Office of Sport and Dr Kerry Chant and attached information from Sport NSW, regarding non-essential travel within t...he state and its impact on community sport. As per Dr Chants recommendations the PCA NSW State Executive will conduct a full review on the viability of this years State Championships and confirm the outcome as soon as possible via a separate communication. However at this it is highly likely that all 2020 State Championships may be cancelled, not just those in to be held in the next six to eight weeks. As per the recommendations club activities may still go ahead under certain conditions as long as clubs have up to date Covid Safety Plans and complete a risk assessment for each activity to determine the risk to attendees regarding these recommendations. PCA NSW recommends that in addition to all Covid Safe Practices including staying home if you are unwell, restriction of participants from affected areas, social distancing and good hygiene attendees that attendees wear face masks when not riding, this includes all spectators and volunteers on the grounds. Clubs must cease any activities that result in overnight stays (camps) due to increased risk of COVID transmission with shared facilities. Ceasing of zone, regional or state championships or competitions for the next six weeks as these activities bring together participants including spectators and officials from different regions of the state. Riders who have nominated for the immediately affected State Championships will receive full refunds and nominations for further championships have been suspended until a risk assessment is completed by the State Executive for the balance of the years activities. Zones hosting Regional Schools, Instructor Schools and Assessments must review their Covid Safety Plans and risk assessments to determine the viability of the activity under these recommendations. As these activities have limits on attendees and do not include overnight stays/camping for participants they may go ahead with extra Covid precautions to be taken, including the wearing of face masks by all attendees when not riding. For full statement and FAQs please read more here... https://pcansw.org.au//latest-covid-19-update-for-communit

04.01.2022 We had hinted that we might have some exciting news for associate riders in their final year of Pony Club in 2020... The following changes have been ratifi...ed at the State Meetings: That for 2021 only, riders who would have turned 25 in the 2020 calendar year be allowed to ride and compete up to State Championship level in 2021. We have also just been given some more good news, the RAS has agreed to our suggested change that was also ratified at the same meeting: That for 2021 only, an exemption on the maximum age of riders competing at the RAS be amended to under 18. This means that if you were lined up to ride in the Under 17 age group as a 16 year old, you will now get the opportunity to enter again in 2021!
