22.01.2022 T minus 5 weeks to duckling spam! #pastureraisedduck #wereduckfarmers #tassieproduce
22.01.2022 Tomatoes 4.5kg in this haul and many more hauls to come. Some of these will be used in tonights dinner, some turned into passata, the big yellow ones will be tomorrows breakfast. #forourconsumptiononly #theysmellsogood #growyourownfood
20.01.2022 Mumma's done it again 100% hatch rate - the best incubator we've ever had!
19.01.2022 90mm of rain yesterday! But also meant very wet chooks. It was getting a bit steamy under mums wings with the other chicks so this little one got creative with the sleeping arrangements
19.01.2022 It's going to be a ripper hay season The ducks were in this paddock only 6 weeks ago. They'd eaten down the grass and left behind the best fertiliser you can get - duck poo We're blown away by how quickly the grass has come back and how thick it is #duckpoo #pastureraisedduck #tassiefarmers #tasmanianproduce
19.01.2022 It's an exciting day at Lone Goose Farm. We've just set out first Muscovy eggs in our hatcher. Over the next 5 days the ducklings will manoeuvre into the correct position for getting out of their egg. We're still learning how to get the best from our incubator so our fingers will be crossed that we can turn picture 1 into picture 2 this coming weekend. Wish us luck for a good hatch rate! #muscovyducks #pastureraisedducks #tassiefarming #tasmanianproduce #knowyourfarmer #ducklings #greatlander #weareduckfarmers #duckfarmers #incubator #sproutproducerprogram
19.01.2022 Our incubator has arrived in Tassie. Now to read the big fat manual and hook this baby up! #greatlanderincubator #pastureraisedduck #tasmanianproduce
17.01.2022 Welcome to Lone Goose Farm!
16.01.2022 Meet Gayle, our lone goose. Well she's not really ours... she's wild, was on the farm when we arrived and has been gracing us with her presence ever since. She took on the role of protector to all the wild ducklings when they hatched in spring, following them and their parents around like she was one of them. Now she hangs out with our ducks all day every day honking whenever the ducks get amorous. She honks alot! #gaylethegoose #whyistherenogooseemoji
15.01.2022 We got a fair bit of rain here yesterday which our breeders took complete advantage of and turned their pen into a mudpit. So onto fresh pasture a day early this morning. Spring is definitely here #pastureraisedduck #tasmanianmuscovyduck #tasmanianproduce #tassieproduce
15.01.2022 No chance of stockpiling food with the cows, they demolish the hay as soon as we put it out. We move our cows every second day at the moment, day 1 they get the fresh green grass you can see in the distance and day 2 they get some hay. This helps us to stretch out the pastures and they process the hay into manure that puts fertility back onto the pastures that we cut for hay in December last year. #rotationalgrazing #regenerativeagriculture #jerseycalves #tassiefarming
15.01.2022 It's raining. The ducks love it, our pasture loves it but we don't love working in it. So instead of sitting staring at the incubator willing our eggs to hatch we're having one of those very important off farm days and heading to one of our Launceston faves @timbrekitchen We're so excited for the day our ducks feature on Tassie's top menus Oh and if we've not yet met - I'm Bec and he's Paul #tasmanianproduce #buysomethingtasmanian #weareduckfarmers
13.01.2022 'Wilfred! What are you doing?!' Our hand raised jersey bobby calves are so very very sweet. Always wanting a cuddle and a scratch. #bobbycalf #bobbycalvesarenotwaste
13.01.2022 We were never certain that Gayle, our Lone Goose, was a girl but after a little row out to our island yesterday we found proof! Chook - Duck - Goose egg #weareduckfarmers #gooseegg #duckegg #tassiefarmers

10.01.2022 What you're looking at here is our specially formulated supplementary Muscovy duck feed. As our quackers are pasture raised, the majority of their feed is grass and bugs. But they do need a little extra and this golden grain mix is it! So proud of Paul for researching and creating our very own blend, and working with Seedhouse to make it a reality using Tasmanian grown grains. Doesn't get more local than this #tassieproduce #muscovyducks #pastureraisedduck #wereduckfarmers
09.01.2022 Eagerly awaiting their breakfast greens Muscovy's love eating grass, but we can't put these little ones out on pasture until they can keep themselves warm and are big enough not to be snacks for ravens and eagles. So we cut fresh grass for them throughout the day so they can still have their greens. #pastureraisedduck #muscovyducks #muscovyducklings #tasmanianproduce #tasmanianfarmers #duckfarm
09.01.2022 Getting our ducks in a row for our first season as duck farmers! Actually, these ones just sat themselves in a row... #muscovyducks #pasturedduck #tasmanianproduce
09.01.2022 This morning we got our first clutch of naturally hatched ducklings on the farm. We have 3 ducks that have rebelled against the paddock rotation system and have now become 'house ducks'. One of these, Mumma Duck, has been patiently sitting on these eggs for the past 35 days and has managed a 100% hatch rate, 11 eggs, 11 little ones! These will be the last ones until Spring now. #tassiefarming #muscovyducks #nofilter #ducklings
07.01.2022 The first Muscovy we ever introduced to the farm decided she wasn't going to live with the other breeding ducks. So 'Mumma' (original we know!) is our house duck and we let her sit on her own eggs. She hatched 11 little ones a couple of weeks back. Her last hatch in March this year was 12 but thanks to some Ravens and Tawny Frogmouths this dwindled to just 3. So Mumma and her ducklings are safely in our brooders until they are big enough not to be bird snacks. Her ducklings are coming up to 3 weeks and are getting a bit big to fit under Mumma. Paul caught this sweet momemt today. Too cute not to share #ducklings #muscovyducklings #pastureraisedduck
06.01.2022 We weren't planning on having house ducks, but this lot decided for us. They live around the dam, wait at the stables for us for morning and afternoon feeding, and come demanding food whenever they want really
05.01.2022 Breakfast! And Gayle giving us a honk of approval in the background
05.01.2022 When you've got a glut of onions, make onion jam. Spruce up a cheese toasty, pop on a cheese board or make your bangers and mash a little bit fancy. My recipe is super simple and you'll have a couple of jars in a little over an hour 500 g sliced onions 1 tbsp olive oil 500 g sugar... 200 mL red wine vinegar 150 mL sweet chilli sauce 1 tbsp yellow mustard seeds Cook your onions in oil until soft. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add everything else, bring to the boil and reduce until she's nice and thick - about 45 mins for me. Pop into your jars whilst everything's hot so they seal themselves. Enjoy xx #onionjam #preservingathome #tastesbetterwhenyoumakeit
05.01.2022 It's been a rather wet day here today, we've spent a good chunk of it out in the rain as our dairy agistment heifers get pregnancy tested and tagged. Mumma duck took her day old ducklings out for a rather soggy first walk. She really is an over achiever as she's managed to hatch 12 ducklings from 11 eggsor maybe our egg counting was a little off, who knows! #pastureraisedducks #muscovy #muscovyducks #ducklings #tassiefarming
04.01.2022 Moving day at Lone Goose Farm. Duck heaven = a swampy paddock and a view of the Western Tiers #pasturedduck #tassieproduce
03.01.2022 Duck moving day! Fresh grass and new bugs for our little quackers. Natural fertiliser for our pasture. Duck cuddles for us. Its a win win win! If only it took 25 seconds to do... #pasturedduck #muscovyducks #muscovyducksoftasmania #knowyourfarmer #sproutproducerprogram
03.01.2022 We check for eggs from our girls several times a day, if we don't then the Ravens come and help themselves. No Raven was getting hold of this egg though, they don't come fresher! #muscovyducks #pastureraisedducks #ducklayinganegg #tasmanianfarming #duckeggs #privacyplease #dontseethateveryday
02.01.2022 Our breeding flock moved to new pasture today #pasturewithaview #happyducks #pastureraisedduck #tasmanianproduce #tasmanianmuscovyduck
02.01.2022 She's alive! Just testing temperature and humidity levels, getting everything stable and then we'll get some eggs into her Thinking she needs a name? #muscovyducks #tasmanianproduce #wereduckfarmers #greatlanderincubator
