23.01.2022 Along the same lines as the joey bags, there are people in the US making wraps for flying foxes and Scrappy Stitch has produced this great video on how to make them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DirpTwx_fY

22.01.2022 It seems like someone in France is circulating a request to make joey bags and send them to us at Long Grass. Not sure how that came about but please dont send them to us. We are not in the fire zone and our mailbox is 7km from the house and rarely gets checked! OK, this isnt actually a picture of our mailbox, but you get the idea :-)

22.01.2022 I have been getting a lot of emails from people all around the world who are busily sewing joey bags to send to wildlife carers in Australia. Most of them are related to the free patterns that we have available on out website, particularly the 3D Joey bag. Never having used a sewing machine myself I am a bit out of my depth with that :-) but there is a great video made by Naomi Huntsman that describes the whole process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4KOTqwkhok

17.01.2022 Horses and kangaroos much happier now that there is grass once more.

16.01.2022 Figbird sitting quietly in a tree :-)

13.01.2022 Here is a new excellent tutorial on making Joey pouches along with some digitised patterns to download based on our Long Grass bags. https://piccolostudio.com.au//making-a-hanging-joey-pouc/

11.01.2022 After 45 days in care, Newby has moved in to his new house mounted on the wall of our verandah. We will continue to feed him twice a day as long as he needs it but he will now have the opportunity to start exploring the world and catching his own food. Fly safe little Newby.

08.01.2022 This brown tree snake was spotted having a wander around at the dam last night.

08.01.2022 Many thanks to Alex Arlett-Johnson United Kingdom who has produced a much more user friendly version of the instructions for the 3D joey bag. This new document is now available on our website. http://longgrassnaturerefuge.com.au/joeybags.html

05.01.2022 Want to set up waterers for wildlife that they cant drown in and dont need filling every day? This is a great idea https://aridrecovery.org.au/how-to-make-a-water-fountain/

04.01.2022 We got this little orphaned Black Flying-fox that was found on the ground in Stanthorpe yesterday. We had to name her Cutie of course. She is 49 days old. Demonstrating a bat wrap in use :-)

01.01.2022 Efforts to address impacts of the 2019-2020 bushfires on wildlife, including species that were already threatened, will need to continue into the years and decades ahead.
