21.01.2022 Stumps cruise to victory after a slow start to the chase!!! LP v Angaston from last Saturday Angaston 8/169 (B Heff 3/39, R Litzow 2/16)... LP 6/173 (R Bushell 59, D Kaminski 38) As I wasn’t available to witness the amazing win with my own eyes I asked Rob (The Muscle) Bushell to give me a run down on the closing stages... So after Jack got out I (The Muscle) went out at number 6 in the 26th over with about 6.5 runs an over needed I thought to myself just a run a ball so take it easy. Well ......he bowled me a bouncer first up and I smashed it to the boundary only to get dropped on the fence! Wow that was stupid. Second ball Another bouncer so I whacked it only to get dropped again. Yes that’s two balls in a row dropped. I reassessed And Tommy (Fingers) Gameau and I then just started cruzing home I settled down a bit until the 32nd over when old mate bouncer kept em coming to which 3 went over the fence two into the rope (I left the first ball) then we were back on track Tom gets bowled first ball of the 33rd and Heff comes out to play he lasted nearly two overs and gets out with 8runs needed. In comes Easty. He smashes a quick 10runs to help me win us the game!! Great run down Muscles!!! This week the boys from Watertower Park travel to Willaston to take them on in a vital clash to start to lock in a finals birth!!

19.01.2022 Someone might owe this old fella an apology . Apparently he made 21 runs today. Not bad at all, even if you did limp off. Thanks for putting your body in the line for our club.

19.01.2022 Its getting closer......

18.01.2022 Friday night cricket done right! On a serious note... Div 1 kids should be heading home feeling pumped. An enjoyable game to watch and a record number of catches taken. Snag in bread after the game was the perfect way to end the night. Sleep well tonight kids

15.01.2022 Please note junior training tomorrow has been cancelled due to heat.

15.01.2022 Stumps Win to take minor premiership!!! The boys finished off the minor round by travelling to Hamley Bridge for the first time since 2011 and came away with the points after a hard fought win. Having lost the toss we were asked to have a bowl and it wasn't long before the wickets started to fall at regular intervals, the boys fielded and bowled well all day and in the 53rd over had dismissed the home team for 102. By the end of day 1 we had gotten through unscathed with 11 ...runs on the board. Day 2 started and we lost young Heath Pym early but Dave "Iceman" Kaminski and Jakob "Skip" Curnow pushed the scoring along at a positive rate until Dave was out Bowled. Wickets continued to tumble but the runs also flowed and the boys were able to pass the score 7 down. HB 102 all out (J McArdle 4/39, B Heff 2/15) LPCC 7/114 (D Kaminski 35, T beard 24*, J Curnow 22) At this stage the boys having finished top will play 4th place Nuri at Freeling on Saturday and Sunday for a place in the Grand Final but if anything changes you will hear it here.

14.01.2022 Stumps Cruise to Victory as prized recruit does hammy!!!! Everyone’s favourite team had a convincing win in Willaston yesterday with Heath The main event Pym and his partner in crime Jamie The big show McArdle both notching up unbeaten centuries on the way to the team notching up 3/289 from there 40 overs. As the stumps walked out to field it was then realised that we had forgotten all the keeping gear which meant our fearless skip had to wander over to the oppositions s...hed and plead to borrow a set of gloves and Willaston thankfully allowed skip to borrow them for the arvo... 20 balls into defending our total our newest recruit JaredHot Rod East who was playing his first game in many years chased a ball to the boundary and Pinged his first ever Hammy at the ripe age of 36 and had to be carried off before being swooped of to the hospital for scans on what we hope isn’t a year ending injury to the young man!! The boys finally bowled the opposition out in the 36th over for 159. LPCC 3/289 (H Pym 115, J McArdle 112) Willaston 159 all out (J McArdle 3/13, D Faulks 2/30) Next week we take on 3rd placed Kapunda at Kapunda.

14.01.2022 As you are all aware we now have a unique QR barcode system which enables SA Health to trace people in the event of another COVID-19 outbreak. Its been strongly recommended to download the "My SA Gov" app which is used to scan and log your attendance. For us to return to playing the game we all love, we have to follow a number of NEW requirements. ... Everybody who attends the cricket club, whether its for training, playing a game or just a social visit MUST scan in using our unique QR barcode (or fill in a paper copy if you need to) on arrival. Its a quick and simple process which takes about 15 seconds. Please be patient during these changes, alot of people behind the scenes in this wonderful club are doing amazing things to keep it running. More to come.....

14.01.2022 The boys head into the new year top with a nice gap to second place which will be very handy when the boys have 2 two day game byes in a row at the end of January and the start of February.

13.01.2022 Due to the heat, junior cricket training has been cancelled

12.01.2022 Rd1 vs Gilbert Valley @ Saddleworth GV 44 (M Warnes 3/15, T Gent 3/5) LPCC 94 (M Warnes 26, T Gent 17) GV 80 (J McArdle 7/19, B Heffernanan 1/13)... LPCC 3/31 LPCC win by 7 wickets

11.01.2022 WE HAVE A TIE!!!! Long Plains have played in their first tie in a long time with Dave Iceman Kaminski only having 5 runs up his sleeve but only needing the one wicket to win, after a first ball dot the second flew to the boundary to tie scores up but sure enough the next ball uprooted middle stump to end the game in a memorable tie... Earlier in the day we witnessed another batting masterclass from Heath the main event Pym finishing up unbeaten on 107! The old fella is i...n some ripping form this year with 2 tons already and averaging a whopping 164!!!! LPCC 4-199 (H Pym 107*, J McArdle 44, D Kaminski 26) Nuri 199 all out (D Kaminski 3/22, J McArdle 2/32, B Heffernan 2/54)

08.01.2022 STUMPS BEAT BOMBERS AT DUTTON PARK!! The Country’s favourite cricket team had a great win on the weekend beating the 3rd place Kapunda at Kapunda Saturday to continue their great run of form this season. After we lost the toss and were asked to have a bat we were out to get a big total on the board to set the day up but we found ourselves 1 down in the first over with Dave Iceman Kaminski being skittled for a duck from a peach of a delivery. The boys settled in and got th...rough to the 12th over until we lost our 2nd wicket which bought Jamie the big show McArdle to the crease with his partner in crime Heath the main event Pym who have batted beautifully together all year, averaging 181 per partnership this year but were only able to put on 26 this week before The Main Event was beautifully caught for 44 as we scrambled along The big show was eventually bowled for 63 in the 35th over leaving Trav Colonel Sanders Beard to tee of towards the end of the innings finishing with a brutal 29 from 15 balls to lift the total to 8/182 from their 40 overs. The boys got off to a good start holding Kapunda to 5 runs from the first 5 overs which kept the pressure on the opposition having to score at a decent rate.. At drinks Kapunda were 2/62 leaving the match in the balance but Kapunda shifted up a gear and the runs flowed so skip had to make the call to bring on Brett Binga Heffernan in to the attack and he proceeded to dismantle the Kapunda attack and get the boys over the line with some quality cross seam back of a length bowling and finishing with game high figures of 5/33 great work Binga!!! LP 8/182 (J McArdle 63, H Pym 44, T Beard 29) Kapunda 8/157 (B Heff 5/33, T Beard 1/15, J Mollenar 1/19) That finishes the One day comp for the year now, the boys will have the next 4 weeks off due to club byes (2 2 day games) and will be back on the 22nd of Feb against Light Pass at the home of cricket Long Plains for a 2 day game.

08.01.2022 Rd 5 saw Longies head to Kersbrook to take on Lyndoch in another one day game, Lyndoch batted first and posted 7/139 (Duds 3/20, T, Gent 2/38, T Gameau 1/18) Longies then went out to bat lead by Rob Bushell and David Kaminski got us off to a great start putting the result to bed early finished off with a classic captains knock from Jakob Curnow. Longies 2/144 (R Bushell 47, J McArdle 36*, J Curnow 30*) The win puts the boys a game clear on top of the ladder nearing the half... way mark. I’ll get the rest of the seasons scores up at some stage this week, but next weekend we are back home against Nuri who will be hungry to take down the ladder leaders so get out and support the boys!! There will be food and the bar will be open all day with teas to follow the cricket so bring your kids bring your mates and come out and enjoy a great day!!!

07.01.2022 We played very well today, scorecard could have been much worse. Chin up ready to chase next week

06.01.2022 With round 1 complete we came away with a solid 7 wicket win against Gilbert Valley at Saddleworth. A challenging turf wicket was prepared making it a low scoring effort from both sides. That win put us 9.93 points clear on top of the ladder. With round 2 starting tomorrow, another strong effort will be needed to tackle Light Pass at Stockwell in a 2day game. Its the first game of our under 11 team this weekend taking on Willaston at Willaston. A huge shout out to Ed Kay and Michael Warnes for making junior cricket possible again. Good luck guys!

04.01.2022 Prepared and ready to go

03.01.2022 STUMPS WIN!!!!! The boys have had a great win against Greenock who sat 2nd before yesterday to round out 2019. After being told to have a bowl at the toss the boys bowled well all day taking wickets at regular intervals and fielding quite well holding on to all catches. In the end we restricted the Greenock boys to a modest 114. With a couple boys missing for the day we had a fresh opening pair in Dave Iceman and Richie Rocket man Fabry who looked good before Dave fell c...heaply bringing Ryan Skitzo Litzow to the crease who batted well together before Rocket man gave catching practice to gully. Enter Jamie the big show McArdle who once again was there at the end to see it through and continue his stella form with the bat seeing the boys finish the day 2 down as they passed the score with 11 overs to spare.. Greenock 114 all out (R Litzow 3/17, D Kaminski 2/8, M Warnes 2/18, J McArdle 2/29) LP 2/117 (R Litzow 48*, J McArdle 38*, R Fabry 11) LPCC would like to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! We look forward to seeing everyone in 2020

01.01.2022 No chocolates today but a very resilient team effort. Nearly batting the overs out against a full strength Kapunda team. A HUGE thankyou to the 7 fill in players to keep the team on the park.

01.01.2022 Stumps Win!!! Everyone's favorite local cricket team had a strong win against Light Pass on the weekend who had been sitting 2nd. After losing the toss the Light Pass boys saw an opportunity to try and take some early wickets without H.Pym opening the batting so they put the boys in and after losing their 7th wicket for 114 it looked like a great idea... But..... as we've seen many times before The big finisher Rob Bushell got his eye in early and started to dispatch the Lig...ht Pass attack to all areas of the Stockwell oval!! Before we knew it the score was racing towards 200 and Rob was scoring like he was possessed until he copped a jaffa wide down the leg side and was able to kick it onto his stumps some how and was out for 60 from 29 balls. The boys were eventually bowled out for 198. Week 2 saw us return and were all jumping out of our skin to get in the field. After a slowing start the boys were toiling hard for not much return but slowly started to take wickets at regular intervals, at tea the home side were 5/90 and the game was nicely poised until Sam was able to take 2 crucial wickets in his only 2 overs to have the hosts reeling at 7/98, the boys eventually bowled the Light Pass boys out for 128 Stumps 198 all out (R Bushell 60, R Fabry 31, J Curnow 24) Light Pass 128 all out (J McArdle 5/39, B Heff 2/28, S McArdle 2/9) Stumps 3/46 (H Pym 32*)
