25.01.2022 Restrictions are now in force. NO BURNING OFF without a permit. NO Excuses! Permits can be applied for online at firepermits.vic.gov.au You must receive approval.

25.01.2022 Sad times for CFA. Although our Chief has resigned we will still turn out. We will still be there for the community. That is why we do what we do. Thats why we volunteer. Please do not make assumptions about the reasons behind the CEO/Cos resignation. He is very passionate about CFA and this decision would not have been easy for him. Take care and look after each other.

25.01.2022 Firewood collection season is open and maps are now available online. ffm.vic.gov.au/firewood If you rely on firewood for heating or cooking, under current ...public health measures you can collect firewood from your nearest collection area. Ensure you follow physical distancing and hygiene requirements, including wearing a face covering when you leave home. Firewood can be collected at nominated collection areas for domestic use, no permit required. You can only take fallen or felled wood and are not to damage standing trees (including dead ones) or collect logs that are visibly hollow or growing moss or fungi. If you have information about firewood being illegally removed or sold, please report it to us on 136 186.

23.01.2022 In Remembrance Today, Wednesday the 29th of April at 5:40pm, the Longford Fire Brigade will sound our siren from the tanker four times, from our Longford fire station driveway. Each siren represents & honours the brave Victoria Police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40pm, last Wednesday 22nd April 2020.... Each time the siren sounds, please take a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by: Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor Constable Josh Prestney Constable Glen Humphris Senior Constable Kevin King The members of the Longford Fire Brigade send our thoughts & condolences to the families of each officer, and emergency service workers at the Victoria Police. Police Ode. As the sun surely sets: dawn will see it arise, for service, above self, demands its own prize. You have fought the good fight: lifes race has been run, and peace, your reward, for eternity begun. And we that are left, shall never forget, rest in peace friend and colleague, for the sun has now set. We will remember. We will remember. Hasten the dawn.

15.01.2022 With the increased numbers of people working from home or remotely from their normal workplace, CFA is warning of the potential for increased risk of structural... fires. Makeshift arrangements that allow for normal school or office work to be performed at home has the potential to increase the risk of fire. There have been many instances that our favourite appliances cause house fires due to overheating or faulty electrical equipment.
