07.01.2022 Today Longford Vets had a change in how the course is normally set up. On the front 9 holes 2 & 3 were eliminated and were replaced with the 17th & 18th and the other main change was hole 1 which was turned into a par 5 and this was done by creating a temporay green about 90 metres down the 2nd fairway where a lot of players had high scores on this hole as we also played this as the 10th . Other changes to the back 9 were a couple of the Ladies Tee's were brought into play an...d on other holes tee's were set up in interesting positions such as the 18th where the 1st time around it was back to the old Vets position and then on the Ladies Tee the 2nd time around. Todays event was well sponsered by David Bassett & Tony McCullagh ...Thank-you both and thanks again to David who would have won Div 1 with a very good score of 67 but he declined the trophy. Winner of Div 1. The very consistent Tony Peebles 68 followed by Lee Boyd who beat Steve Herron on CB with a fine 70 and then with a 73 Malcom Bygraves in another CB from Chris Beard. 06.01.2022 Today 15 vets competed in Stans Comp there were some great scores thanks to cut fairways and greens and a bit of run on the fairways Winner overall was John Morgan (22) 44 points John had 25 points on the first nine and handbraked on the second I think he models himself on DeChambeau and may have had lessons via email thru the covid break as he is playing well... A great game from Kel Clark (10) 41 points (missed 5 birdie putts on the second nine) Following was consistent player Tony Peebles with 40 points Also a fine game from Stan Gotobed finishing with 39 points Now Stan made most of his score on the 9th/18th He just missed out on nearest to the pin and putted for a birdie and 5 points On the 18th he was on the green and his put stopped on the edge and he made par for 4 points Also a great putt from Stan - he was on the back of the second green and dropped in the putt. Tony Peebles had a ball pinched by the crows on the 3rd hole. John Bardenhagen had a steady round for 36 points (he had an out of bounds and was 50mm from a second and had a big wipe on the 11th) By the way on the 11th, John had one of the biggest drives I have seen in a long time, however his 4 shots were rabbits (runners) and he 3 putted. Kel didnt fair much better when he hit a big drive around the hedge on the corner of the 11th to pass John, topped his second and hit a huge 6 iron to the back of the green, however he 3 putted for six.
