25.01.2022 Raising the concept of a hotel bar high; custom designed furniture, 500 locally handmade ceramic tiles, wines curated from Australia’s renowned vignerons, boutique spirits, craft beers and the licence to help-yourself. Cheers, mate!

22.01.2022 The indigenous Anangu identify five seasons in their Country, noting changes in the weather that have an impact on their day-to-day life. The time between August and September when the warm, steady wind blows from the north and west is known as ‘Piriyakutu’. Moderate weather brings reptiles out of hibernation, animals breed and food plants like the honey grevillea (also known as the desert sweet shop thanks to their sweet nectar) begin to flower. 21.01.2022 Following the exciting news that the Northern Territory will be open to NSW travellers from October 9, the team at Australian Traveller has put together a comprehensive list of the best things to do in the Northern Territory. They’ve prepared this guide based on their own unique experiences and visits to the Territory which includes walking the Valley of the Winds trail at the mighty Kata Tjuta and living it up at Longitude 131. 21.01.2022 Encompassing over five million hectares of Aboriginal Freehold land in the south-west corner of the Northern Territory, the Katiti-Petermann Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is managed to world conservation standards by the Aboriginal landowners, the Mutitjulu Tjakura Rangers and the Kaltukatjara Rangers with support from the Central Land Council. The IPA is crisscrossed by numerous Dreaming lines and incorporates many sites of cultural importance to Anangu traditional owners... as well as supporting ecologically diverse plant and animal communities which support several nationally listed threatened species. Vulnerable right across Australia, the brush-tailed mulgara is a small carnivorous marsupial that lives in the deserts of inland Australia and within the Katiti-Petermann IPA (located adjacent to the lodge). Its closest relatives include the Tasmanian devil and the quoll. They have small ears, a short nose and long chubby tails where they store fat. Amazingly, they don’t have to drink water! They can get all the moisture they need from their food small and juicy mammals, reptiles, centipedes, spiders and other large invertebrates. A management program involving patch burning to create an ideal habitat highlights the important role played by traditional owners of the land in prolonging the survival of the mulgara species. 21.01.2022 Social distancing is easy in the outback where the wide open plains seem endless and people are few and far between, ‘cooee’! On the Uluru Photo Safari with renowned travel photographer Richard I'Anson space is limited to just ten happy snappers and the packed daily schedule is focused on culture, connection and craft. The focused five-day event runs from October 23-27. Learn more https://bit.ly/Uluru_Photo_Safari

19.01.2022 Artist Roxanne Carroll skilfully incises the wriggly form of a witchetty grub, known as ‘maku’ in local Anangu language, into a ceramic tile. Roxanne is telling the Tjukurpa or stories of her family, under the wing of her grandmother Alison Milyka Carroll, artist and current Chair of @ernabella_arts_pukatjapottery. The new branch is supported by the strong trunk; this is Anangu way. @the_interloper Australia.com Northern Territory Australia Visit Central Australia Luxury Lodges of Australia

19.01.2022 Since its 2016 launch, Bruce Munro’s ingenious carpet of lights has won international acclaim as a permanent feature of the outback landscape. There’s been a $1 million refurbishment of the fibre-optic cabling and the 50,000-plus solar-powered frosted glass spheres, which create a glimmering panorama with Uluru as backdrop. The British artist’s magnum opus shines as vividly as ever! Australia.com Northern Territory Australia Visit Central Australia Luxury Lodges of Australia

18.01.2022 Some desert treasures remain hidden even when they are in plain sight. The salt lakes of the Red Centre - their waters twice as salty as the sea - are treacherous expanses. While they can be explored with a four-wheel drive and the relevant permissions, flying over them reveals not only their vast reach but also their mesmerising beauty. 15.01.2022 If taking a Red Centre roady or flying into Alice Springs and driving the 450kms to Uluru at Yulara (just down the road in these parts), Kings Canyon in Watarrka National Park is a mighty fine stop-off point. Discover some of Central Australia’s most spectacular scenery from the heights of the epic Rim Walk to the lush Garden of Eden and the sandstone domes of the Lost City one slow step at a time. And who can resist taking a Priscilla Queen of the Desert photo opportunity, from the location of the cult Australian film. @_aswewander

14.01.2022 The Dune Pavilion's tub-nee-tank is big enough for two; although with dual bathrooms it's not necessary to share. There's just the matter of which dreamy view you'd like to soak in, Uluru or Kata Tjuta... Australia.com Northern Territory Australia Luxury Lodges of Australia

13.01.2022 Ahoy - Kata Tjuta on the horizon! Designed to resemble a humble water tank, the Dune Pavilion’s private plunge pool is the ultimate in outback glamour. The dune top also sports one of these beauties set adjacent to the open-air bar. It’s hands down the perfect spot for drinking in the view.

13.01.2022 The uncertainty caused by a series of extended state border restrictions has had an enormous and detrimental impact on the tourism industry in the era of the Coronavirus pandemic. Now’s the time to come together and lobby the State Premiers and Chief Ministers to reopen borders (except Victoria for now) with protocols in place for safe travel between states. Please join us in our bid to #saveaussietourism; visit www.saveaustraliantourism.com to read the open letter to our state leaders and add your name to the list of supporters. 12.01.2022 He had some stories to tell, did W.E (Bill) Harney... Also called 'Bilarni', the self-educated writer and bushman is known for his books about the Aboriginal peoples of Australia’s Northern Territory. A gregarious and generous person who regarded everyone as equal, Bill was short and stocky, with hypnotic blue eyes and an expressive face. Above all, he was a superb raconteur. At Longitude 131, Tent 9 is named in his honour and original handwritten notes, pictures and books tell his own fascinating tale.

10.01.2022 The lockdown team at Longitude 131 has worked on a property refreshment over the past few months, so it’s more sparkling than ever to welcome guests back on August 21st. They’ve continued with their revegetation program, and have planted an additional 200 natives including a number of Sturt’s Desert Rose plants and some very different bush foods. There’s also new interpretative signage along the five-kilometre ‘Longitude Loop’ which laps the property and is perfect for a morning run. 09.01.2022 By virtue of its remoteness, there's no light pollution to hinder the night sky in the Red Centre. Trade street lights for starry nights this summer! @discoveringaus

08.01.2022 Monocle - Unofficial’s resident #MeetTheAuthors interviewer Georgina Godwin last year travelled to Australia for a new podcast series, Only in Australia, completed in conjunction with Tourism Australia. Georgina journeyed the length and breadth of the country, meeting Australia’s standout tourism operators, hoteliers, producers and designers. While in Sydney, Georgina met with James and Hayley Baillie, before flying to Longitude 131, where she encountered the still, spiritual force of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. 07.01.2022 It was in 1992 when Bruce Munro camped hereabouts that the idea for a blooming artwork first took seed. After testing the concept in a field behind his house back in the UK in 2004, Bruce was invited to recreate his installation in many forms all over the world. It wasn’t until 2016 that his original vision for the Field of Light twinkled to life at Uluru. From the spark of an idea to his largest ever iteration comprising 50,000 stems - it was a dream well realised. 07.01.2022 It’s a perfect time to travel with friends and family and the Dune Pavilion is the ultimate outback homestead to claim as your own. With views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta framed from the two bedrooms and ensuites and personally curated in-tent bar, this premium tent is primed for celebration. 07.01.2022 ‘The ceramics studio allows us to teach each other. It’s a communication studio where people are making and teaching someone else. We are passing it along’, says artist Anne Thompson, of the continually evolving, hands-on learning process at Ernabella Arts Inc. @the_interloper_

06.01.2022 The Simpson Desert stretches 68,000 square miles across central Australia, but it looks as surreal as anything on Mars. There are more than 1,100 parallel sand dunes, each a wind-sculpted ridge of quartz grains coated in iron oxide, which rusts over time, producing awesome vistas that when seen from above appear so painterly, it’s hard to believe such shapes, colours and details are possible.

05.01.2022 As important now as it was thousands of years ago - the sharing of stories: along both of our Uluru walks, guides pass on insight into the ancient creation tales of the land's traditional custodians, the Anangu. 03.01.2022 Sacred to the Anangu people, iconic Uluru is the crimson heart of Australia. When writer Ron Gluckman revisited the giant rock and its traditional caretakers for @travelandleisureasia, he found a visceral spirit that permeates the vast desert and lulls the mind into Dreamtime.

03.01.2022 @vogueaustralia’s September 2020 issue is dedicated to the theme of hope and features an artwork by Anangu Pitjantjatjara woman and spiritual healer Betty Muffler, the first time an artwork has covered #VogueAustralia in its 60 year history! The piece, titled Ngangkari Ngura (Healing Country) (2020) was commissioned by #Vogue and gifted to the @nationalgalleryaus collection, where it is currently on display. #BettyMuffler hails from @iwantja_arts in the remote Indulkana Community in far north-east South Australia, approximately 400 kilometres south of Alice Springs and her artwork forms part of a global initiative between all 26 Vogues internationally, which have united behind this theme of hope. #VogueHope #IwantjaArts @apy_ac_collective
