25.01.2022 Longneck Lagoon EEC remains non-operational on Friday 26 March. Please stay safe everyone and do not drive through floodwaters - you do not know the condition of the roadway below you.

25.01.2022 The staff from Longneck Lagoon EEC had a wonderful time with the Stage 1 students from Glenbrook Public School.

24.01.2022 The Melaleuca decora (white feather honeymyrtle) is in full bloom at the lagoon!

23.01.2022 Darug Cultural Day at Longneck Lagoon EEC with Aboriginal students from Kurrajong East PS with Darug educator Erin Wilkins. #EZECNSW #NSWDoE #LoveWhereYouLearn

23.01.2022 Longneck Lagoon EEC will be non-operation on Monday 29 March. We can now access the site and will be having site assessment completed first thing Monday morning. We can then begin the clean up.

23.01.2022 I love learning on Country. This morning, Darug woman Erin spent some time with me resource collecting at East Kurrajong. A young stringbark tree fell in one of the recent storms and after expressing gratitude for this gift we cut the tree and began gathering the bark for string and strap making. Shorter rounds were cut and are being left to dry until the bark peels off to be made into small coolamons. Other fallen bark from different gum trees can be used almost immediately. The longer strips of bark are now soaking in water before the next step is taken. Thanks Erin for sharing your knowledge and skills.

21.01.2022 Congratations to the team from Longneck Lagoon EEC on receiving an Executive Director’s Award for the teaching and learning resources developed during the learning from home period.

20.01.2022 The Melaleuca styphelioides or prickly paperbark are now having their turn to flower. The rain earlier this year seems to have improved the flowering hugely.

19.01.2022 Stage 1 students at Riverbank PS have participated in a series of incursions with Longneck Lagoon EEC. Year 1 enjoyed learning about insects and then creating their own cute bug based on the delightful Very Ugly Bug book. Year 2 experimented with boat making as they followed the adventures of the animals in the picture book Who Sank the Boat. The community should be proud of their children. We have had a wonderful time at the school.

13.01.2022 And the water keeps on rising.

13.01.2022 A big week of clean up after the flood! Huge thanks to our wonderful colleagues at Brewongle Environmental Education Centre for their assistance today, helping to remove and clean all our furniture and equipment from the flood affected buildings. A quick walk around the bush and lagoon gave us an appreciation of just how high the water had risen. #EZECNSW #LoveWhereYouLearn

12.01.2022 Stage 2 students at Windsor Park PS got their ‘engineering hats’ on today! Exploring shapes for suitability led to some great designs. It is always important to test as you build. Success! Positive evaluations of designs and builds meant we all made it to the other side. Of course, in these currents times there is always the cleaning of equipment! #LoveWhereYouLearn #NSWDoE #EZECNSW

09.01.2022 Fantastic opportunity for Stage 3 students!

08.01.2022 String making from stringbark part 2 : tenderising/ bruising the bark and then rolling/twisting to loosen up the fibres. Then back into the tannin stained water to continue soaking. We will use the water for natural dying later on. #EZECNSW #NSWDoE #LoveWhereYouLearn #nowaste #sustainableliving

08.01.2022 It is official, LLEEC now has an indoor wading pool! There is at least 300mm of water through our classroom, kitchen and staff toilets. We hope that all of the ground dwelling animals were able to find higher ground.

06.01.2022 "Learn as much as you can about the culture and participate." - Aunty Deanna. Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who are part of some of the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #NAIDOC2020 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*

04.01.2022 Does size matter? We don’t think so! We love all creatures - great and small.

03.01.2022 How do you test for the best nest? With an egg of course! ES1 from Bligh Park PS found out how good birds are at engineering.

02.01.2022 Well done Stage 2 students at Hobartville PS! Today’s incursion included learning about the interactions between species; investigating the conditions of their beautiful rainforest garden and playing some traditional games. Thanks to the staff at Hobartville PS for engaging with LLEEC over four fabulous days! A big shout out too to the LLEEC teachers who have delivered the programs. #EZECNSW #NSWDoE #LoveWhereYouLearn
