25.01.2022 A huge well done to the post office team! We've had a heap of mail and parcels come in over the last couple of days and the team has stepped up and done a fantastic job getting them all out. At the same time, our counter folks have been dealing with the trying times for public interactions in great humour and understanding. We couldn't do it without you! :)... On a side note, we'd also like to welcome our new mail room supervisor - Cara. She's a little young for the job but we fully expect her to grow into the role. :)

23.01.2022 Does being paid to drive around the REAL Queensland Outback appeal to you? Read on... The Longreach Post Office has a vacancy for a mature (25+) and experienced country driver to deliver mail and parcels to properties on our mail run.... Twice each week you’ll spend around 8-9 hours driving about 500km. It’s mostly dirt roads, sometimes dirt tracks. On occasion a tyre will require changing on a road covered in cow pats while being bothered by said cows, and flies. Just part of the experience. On offer is permanent, part-time employment of 18 hours per week on Mondays and Thursdays. Pay is around $500/week before tax. Plus employer superannuation, uniforms, and paid holidays. Interested? Drop a CV in at the Post Office outlining your relevant experience. Please include three recent job/character referees (so we can ask them how wonderful you are). You should know that Australia Post will do their own police and security checks. We’ll help with that. 22.01.2022 Longreach Post Office is closed over Easter but with this kind of backlog there's a pretty good chance that we'll be run off our feet next week. Given the current situation, please help us out by waiting for your delivery (street addresses and country properties) or until you get a card in your PO box, before chasing us for your parcel.

21.01.2022 I ordered these in because I wanted to try one for myself. One of my favourite ways to cook spuds is to thin slice them and fry them with garlic, onion and cheese. This thing works really well and gives a great thin and consistent slice. It'll also grate and do other stuff - but I've been too busy doing the thin slice thing to try out the other functions.... My curiosity means there's a few in stock if you want to try it for yourself.

21.01.2022 Australia Post appears to be experiencing a major network outage at the moment. There are significant impacts on our ability to maintain our normal service. Counter transactions are limited and we currently only have one delivery driver operating. There will be inevitable delays to street parcel deliveries today. Updates will be added as we find out more.

09.01.2022 There's about 2000 military personnel currently serving overseas. Did you know that you can send a goodwill parcel (or letter) to "An Australian Soldier"? There are some conditions that apply and you must lodge your parcel between the 22nd of March and the 1st of April.... 09.01.2022 The time has come to paint the post office. We've already done some fairly major works here but they've largely been hidden from view. Now it's time to spruce the place up. We're looking for painting contractors to quote on a complete exterior paint job on the post office.... Drop in and talk to me (David) about the scope of the job.

08.01.2022 Last year, the post office handled around 6000 parcels for the month of December. This year, we've already reached 7100 parcels (an increase of almost 20%)!!! We couldn't have done it without the amazing post office team. My sincere and heartfelt thanks to Linda, Liam, Monica, Diesel, Daniel, Jon, Shannon, Breanna, Sarah and Laird. You guys rock and we couldn't do it without you.

03.01.2022 Due to expansion, the post office has new position(s) available. Initially, this is as leave replacement over the Christmas period but we expect at least one position to become permanent in the new year. About the job:... A typical working day will start around 9AM and you'll be done before 5PM. Mostly, there isn't any requirement for weekend or after-hours work. You'll be helping with all aspects of mail and parcel deliveries in Longreach. This may including riding a motor scooter or driving a delivery van (or both). Some parcels can be fairly heavy (up to about 30kg) and we provide lifting aids to assist with this. During the day, you'll chat to people, pat (or run away from) dogs and get to see the sights of Longreach. About You: You're over 25. You have an open drivers license. You don't need to have a motorbike license. You'll be presentable and work well as part of a growing team. It's an Australia Post requirement that you'll undergo a security screening process which is carried out by Australia Post. 02.01.2022 You may have seen that there are some changes to delivery schedules for Australia Post. The majority of these changes are in metropolitan areas only. However, with Australia Post seeing a roughly 80% increase in parcel volumes over the past few weeks the entire network is now experiencing some delays. This may mean that your parcels will take a little longer to reach you.... Be assured that we're working as hard as we can to reduce this delay where possible but the huge volumes involved mean that the delays will likely continue for some time.
