25.01.2022 The Outback Cup! This week our school community started a virtual competition made up of a series of physical and creative challenges. Students and their families complete the weekly activities and upload photo/video evidence to earn points for their house. Activities include workouts, practising their musical songs and dances and art. Good luck everyone!!

23.01.2022 Today LSODE participated in various Remembrance Day celebrations around the ridges. We hosted a lovely service on-air for our school community and some families attended services in their towns. Jennifer plays the Last Post at Blackall Remembrance Day celebrations.

22.01.2022 Our Coolibah house captain Will received The Outback Cup on behalf of his team today! Coolibah beat rivals Boree 646-435 to take out the inaugural Outback Cup. Well done to all our students, home tutors, parents and teachers who participated in the challenge.

18.01.2022 Last Tuesday, during our whole school 2-day Cluster, Master Drummer Dr. Grant Collins visited our school and hosted two workshops for the students. Grant's 'vigorous passion for the drums' was evident in his engaging and dynamic presentation. The students and teachers alike were totally captivated. 17.01.2022 KAPOW! Last Thursday, our students met via web conference, Superhero, Karen Tyrrell Author of the Song Bird Superhero series and her husband Steve. Check out the photos to see the world through the eyes of an LSODE kid! After 5 weeks of competition Coolibah is ahead on 522 points. Boree edged slightly closer this week on 327 points. 07.01.2022 VIRTUAL CAMP TIME! Last week, our secondary students from Longreach, Charleville and Mount Isa scoured their recycling bins, kitchens and even their craft tables to gather resources for the most fun-filled two days this year! As a response to the current situation with COVID-19 and subsequent cancellation of our face-to-face events this year, we created a Virtual Camp for our Secondary students. This was a great opportunity for students, who are already isolated by distance a...nd haven’t seen each other for nearing 10 months, to put curriculum aside for a couple of days and have some fun time with their peers and teachers. Students were treated to a variety of sessions that provoked their interests and even got some parents involved. Sessions included Art, COVID-19 Time Capsule, Discussions with a dog trapper, Games Night, French and Japanese Cultural Activities, Fashion Challenge, Families Got Talent, Let’s Get Physical, Our Kitchen Rules Cake Decorating & Cooking, Technology build a bird-feeder Challenge, STEAMpunkers, Pirate Game, Trivia Night and Yoga. The RSVPs hit our inboxes hard and fast. Students were very excited to learn some new skills, challenge themselves and most importantly, laugh and enjoy nurturing relationships. 05.01.2022 On Friday our students travelled to Isisford to attend the Sir Wally Rae Sports Day. Our students were strong competitors and displayed outstanding sportsmanship to their fellow athletes. Congratulations to Ollie, Harry, Jaimee, Will, Riley and Charley who were awarded age champions and to all the other students who helped us win the 2020 Aggregate trophy.

04.01.2022 This week, the very talented Indigenous artist, Arthur Conlon aka Deadly Arthur visited our school to leave his artist mark. He’s brightened up our school grounds, painting a mural on our water tank. Our students participated in an on-air art lesson, drawing a turtle. 03.01.2022 Harry, Will and Heath represented the Central West District at the North West Cricket Trials on the weekend. Will and Heath were selected on the NW team and will attend State Cricket in Toowoomba in Term 4. Congratulations to all three boys on an awesome effort!
