06.01.2022 Re-posted from Peter Uptons email: Dear Friends. As many of you know our darling Liz passed away on Wednesday morning, the 23rd August, at 2.45 am in Canberra Hospital ICU, surrounded by family holding her hands. ... On Thursday morning, the 17th August, while we were skiing in Perisher with friends, a series of events seemed to have been caused by a large brain aneurysm which we now know has been laying dormant for many many years. Liz always lived life to the fullest and we find comfort in knowing she was doing what she loved and having an incredible day skiing when it decided to emerge. Two of the best neurosurgeons in Australia worked on Liz at the Canberra Hospital and for five days after she was surrounded by family giving her the strength, love and support to win the fight, and like with everything in her life, Liz did not give up. At times holding her hand I would have given anything to swap places. Liz gave to others all of her life and her final gift as an organ donor was to give quality of life back to two other people. Our almost 50 years together have been wonderful and I could not have wished for a better partner. We did everything together. Liz was my rock. Rest in peace my love. I am sending this because with nearly 200 messages this last week, everything has been a blur, and I just wanted you all to know what happened. Your support and good wishes have been such a help to us all and we are so grateful to have you all as our friends. For those of you who dont already know. Lizs service will be at Gregson & Weight funeral home on the Eumundi-Noosa road at 1 pm Friday 1st September. The first day of spring. Afterwards we would love everyone to join us at one of Lizs favourite places in the World, our Beach Shack on the North Shore, for a celebration of her life. We will have a ferry account open for you all, please BYO drinks and chair or picnic rug. All Our Love The Upton Family.
