25.01.2022 Time for a freshen up and some dag removal . Barber Brent to the rescue. Thankful there are only 20 to do! Know of any felters, spinners or crafters who are after some Suffolk wool? $20 a fleece 'au naturel' meaning unwashed and not skirted. Give us a call or send a pm :)

24.01.2022 I wanted to send out a great, big thank you for everyone who took the time to read, re-post, message, call or donate to help out Long Table Farm during this time. It has highlighted a community willing to step up and and help those who help them, and I find that so beautiful! In 24 hours we have reached our fundraising goal, have been inundated with phone calls and messages of people wanting to donate their time or machinery to assist the farm. The family at Long Table Farm are overwhelmed by the support, compassion and generosity of this community and are looking forward to rebuilding what was lost. - Loren

21.01.2022 Today we lost our Jersey Cow Apples. Apples had given birth to a heifer calf when she contracted milk fever. Unfortunately we were unable to save her but have been fortunate to have her strong calf who we have welcomed to the farm as Peaches. This was a reminder that farming has its ups and downs! #longtablefarm #longtable_farm #locavore #australianfarmers #primaryproducer #familiesthatfarm #growfeededucate #ethicalfarming #pastureraised #northcoastfarming #happyfarms #jerseycow #jerseycalf #growfeededucate @ Long Table Farm

21.01.2022 Meet our newest edition Nancy :) Nancy is a Duroc sow an old breed originating from the United States. Her kin are renown for their hardiness, chill attitude and fast growth. She is well suited to pasture raising as they thrive in both cold and warm climates. Above all she loves munching down on pasture. Durocs are also known to have large litters and they take very good care of their piglets. The meat from Duroc pigs is typically darker in colour, maintains moisture well and... has good fat marbling throughout -- all highly desirable qualities in cuts of pork. She will be penned up for a bit to get used to us and our menagerie of animals. Happy with her personal mud bath :) Thank you Eli and Ebony from @dewsburypork! Hot farmers growing amazing pastureraised pork! These guys breed, raise and sell stud pigs. They also sell the best tasting pork, look them up if you are ever heading south. See more

14.01.2022 Long Table Barn Raising: Long Table Farm is the sort of farming we all want to see more of - they strive for sustainable farming practices done in an ethical way where their animals are pasture-raised and treated with respect. A lot of what they love and do is dependent on the machinery, tools and equipment needed for day-to-day operations, all stored in their ginormous custom-built barn. In the early hours of this morning, the farm was devastated with the loss of this prized... barn. 8 fire trucks attended, but the loss was devastating. As fire tore through it, Brent and Bec could only helplessly watch as it all was lost. Brent and Rebecca, along with help from family and friends, lovingly designed and built this barn from scratch, from foundation through to the finishing touches. Perched on the hill above the farm, it was an impressive structure and, as mentioned, housed everything important to daily farm life. For their business and livelihood to be sustained, along with their passion and drive, we thought we would encourage everyone, where possible, to help out. As all of us know, Brent and Rebecca are two of the most selfless people we have ever met. Their whole life philosophy is that when you have enough, you share, you pay it forward. Now it’s our chance to repay the love and kindness to them. Monetary donations to this GoFundMe page will help with the demolition and removal of the remnants of the barn as a starting point. Donations or loaning of machinery or tools and equipment is just as valuable. And if you have nothing to give, your time and energy to help out would be just as appreciated. In the spirit of a good old fashioned barn raising, we would love to see the Long Table Farm community rally around the two people who always rally around us. Please let us know how you would love to help. - Loren Pakalniskis (sister and all-round LTF supporter) https://www.gofundme.com/f/long-table-barn-raising

05.01.2022 #Repost @farmsteadmeatsmith (@get_repost) Prepare to rectify one of the most ridiculous, sustained oversights in all of human existence. When we told our youth that farming was a lowly aim compared with becoming teachers, doctors, or lawyers, what were we thinking? We need teachers for just a few of life's decades. If we're lucky, we'll see a doctor only a few times a year, and a lawyer even less. But we need farmers every single day of our lives, beginning to end, no ...exceptions. We forgot about that for a while, and the price was immense. Slowly, we're coming back to our senses. Be patient with us. We need you. -Barbara Kingsolver, Letters to a Young Farmer #meatsmith #farmsteadmeatsmith #butchersofinstagram #artisanbutcher #butchery #butcherslife #charcuterie #homestead #homesteading #homesteadlife #farm #farming #farmlife #harvest #raiseyourownmeat #grownyourownfood #onthefarm #countryliving #slowliving #farmersofinstagram #knowyourfarmer #agriculture #farmtotable #agrar #ducks #poultry #farmwork #farm365

02.01.2022 We are struggling on how to put forward adequate words to say thank you. How do you describe a tidal wave of love and support and how this has buoyed us? Tidal wave is probably a crap analogy, as there is no such thing as a good tidal wave, right? Unless it’s our inept analogy to describe the love we have experienced in this last week. We have been asked how we are feeling. It’s hard to describe, but apart from the overwhelming feeling of relief, gratitude, and thankfulness ...that no one was hurt, we feel totally cherished. Have you ever had strong painkillers for something like a broken bone or an operation? It’s like you are totally aware of the pain and damage but you say ‘hey pain, I know you are there but these pain killers are good, man. They take the crippling pain away’. Well the fire is a big fat cause of pain but all the prayers, faith, the love showered on us, offers of help in all its different forms, uplifting words, financial assistance, and words of understanding have been the pain killers. We are aware of the loss, but it’s like we are disassociated from that loss. Initially it was hard for us to accept all the offers of help, especially financial assistance. There may have been a bit of pride in the mix, but the main reasons were, we felt there are people worse off than us, we didn’t want to put people out, and finally we felt underserving. We are well aware and know some who lost so much more than us due to fires. Devastatingly more than just material possessions, yet some of these people were the first to reach out to us. I mean, they are still getting over the horrors of the fires last year! Some things will leave scars on their hearts forever. The money raised will hopefully pay for the clean-up, put a roof back on the shed, maybe a new tank and allow us to capture rainwater again. This is more than we hoped for. Meanwhile.Thank you! Thank you all so very much and stay tuned for the rebuilding because you will be invited. Love Brent and Bec . ‘If Material things don’t bring us deep joy, why should their loss bring deep sadness?‘ Coined by the red bearded one Brent. . . Philippians 4 6:8 See more
