25.01.2022 Most of the high country cattlemans huts we visited last trip

23.01.2022 Hard to believe it’s 12 months since our big ride from Cobungra to Corryong, Fred’s Ride, tough weather but a tough group dealt with it well , more rides in the making

23.01.2022 Very hot weekend coming , southern side of alpine national park closed , stay safe everyone , cheers

20.01.2022 NB With the expected Weather conditions this coming weekend , Parks have shut the Alpine National Park , no entry , those in to evacuate and leave The conditions of high temp , high wind speeds , low humidity on Saturday with a significant west to sou west change presents a foreseeable hazard of increased wild fire activity The change on Saturday and into Sunday will also provide conditions for significant lightning Please contact anyone you know in there or intending to... travel there as of now Cheers Gary and Anita See more

20.01.2022 A busy morning , with getting Oompy leading and CC the bay mare and Sue the buckskin gelding getting used to loaded packs

20.01.2022 The lake is low , so a day ride on the sand flats , won’t be long and we’ll be having horses and humans stay on the farm and rides to here

19.01.2022 The bush of Gippsland continues to be parched , lightning coming through regularly with dry storms starting more fires , if you are travelling into the bush please be careful , to those riders who are coming along in March on our big ride ,we are putting contingencies in place depending on the continuity of the dry conditions and on going fires , an email will go out in the next week , cheers for now Gary

18.01.2022 A big thank you to our back up crew on our last ride, the work that goes on behind the scene to have a camp set up , cooled down fresh fruit then savoury nibbles before a normal two course meal , also a shower and toilet arranged , Annika Lewis, Dave Taylor, Christine and Paul Whiley , then success of the trip was from your effort thank you

14.01.2022 Lots of training of young horses going on here at the moment , will be posting what rides we have planned for next season soon, stay safe everyone , cheers for now , gh. Ps And a big thank you to Four to the Floor horsemanship ( Dan and Maddy ) who’ve done some amazing saddle training over the last 10 years and got some great base work into these two ,

08.01.2022 We are thinking about buying a couple of these to set up on the farm for a year or so , up off the ground on decking

05.01.2022 Just a short into our programmed 14 day ride ( Fred’s Ride Cobungra to Corryong) that we should be on now as I have had a few people asking of late A family member, my mother actually has had a significant illness. Anita and I decided a couple of months ago to cancel the ride this year knowing that mums treatment was going to be a few weeks before the start of the ride, not knowing what would occur, it was decided to be in phone range daily not remote. As it is has turned ...out the dry storms and lightning and lack of rain has made it a good call as well Some of the wee creeks east of Benambra had stopped flowing and not many puddles for sips for the ponies during the days rides. The bushfires in the southern side of the alps have only just slowed up in the last week or so too. In regards to mums health , she’s come through her treatment well to now , so a great positive. So thanks to those who were booked in on the ride ( Cathy Giles you fracturing your leg was part of the decision too) for your understanding and thoughtfulness, we are planning 2019/ 2020 our quality rides and will have our list up soon , again only a few but we hope the most memorable Cheers Gary and Anita See more

01.01.2022 Would so love to see the McMillan Pack Track reopened up to horses, a lot of work was done on it by the Ben Cruachan walking club many years ago and renamed it the McMillan Walking Track A heritage goldfields pack horse track constructed by Angus McMillan and his staff in 1864 , paid for by the authorities at the time ,from memory 6 foot wide The track was built to take supplies into the goldfields and probably more importantly get the gold back to Melbourne and not to head north to Sydney The track is 220 kms long and goes from Wood Point to Omeo , a real heritage track that was used and culturally significant, this could bring people from all over Australia and potentially from overseas

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all and may 2020 be a wonderful year for you , as normal we will all have challenges but as I like to say , just try At this time for personal reasons we are holding off organising rides this summer As well , the Alpine and sub alpine areas of Gippsland are truely so so dry , since my first trip into the Moroka area in the late 1960s , I haven’t observed so many wee creeks in gullies without flow or water at all... I have been working up in the Gippsland fires assisting crews on placing control lines with felling excavators and bulldozers, the ground where we have been is just powder , fire activity at times has been extraordinary and quite scary So if you are heading into the remote areas please be observant and try to read the weather , cloud coming through, wind direction , animal and insect activity and also what the trees are doing in regard to leaf fall Cheers for now Gary and Anita
