LOOP TRAFFIC is the first ever traffic app to combine technology with real people, and is the brainchild of Jay Flood, who, as South East Queensland’s first ever TV traffic reporter has spent over twenty years observing and reporting on our traffic congestion woes. It’s not only the roads and traffic issues that have changed over the years but the way in which drivers want information delivered. While periodic reports over the radio from an ‘eye in the sky’ once met demand, the research that we commissioned backs up that in an era of ‘on-demand’ media where information is available instantly, drivers expect their traffic information to be the same, and through technology we’re able to meet this demand. LOOP TRAFFIC not only enables drivers to access audio reports on demand but unlike any other means of checking traffic information, the reports can be operated entirely through voice command via your mobile phone. In designing the app, driver safety was absolutely paramount, the app can be opened on a mobile phone through a hands free audio command, the users hearing the latest real-time report based on their location. LOOP TRAFFIC app also allows users to ‘replay’ traffic reports, a capability research confirmed is sought by commuters. While the technology revolutionises the way commuters receive their traffic information, the source remains the same. Local experts on the ground collating and interpreting the data from traffic control and roads and emergency authorities to deliver accurate, concise and up to date reports straight to your phone. LOOP TRAFFIC, developed by local Sunshine Coast company ‘Flood Active’ launches in Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts this month, ahead of a national release towards the end of the year. I know how much drivers rely on traffic information during the daily commute, they don't need turn by turn navigation, but they do want to know what’s happening from a local perspective, and that’s exactly what the app is designed for.
