24.01.2022 Christmas has come early to May Downs! A whopping 109mm overnight We are so incredibly thankful

17.01.2022 Another wet week here at May Downs with a beautiful 74mm falling midweek. We haven’t been out and about too much due to the weather however Sambo managed to snap these pics of Horse Lagoon and Keithys before running into a spot of bother later in the week. Luckily James and Shani were on call to lend a hand and come home with the photographic evidence! ... This week Wally decided to appoint himself as the cowboy gardener. He’s been working overtime on the lawns and keeping the bird bath clean. Now we just need to keep him off the veranda and he might end up with a full time role! Until next week, ciao from MD

10.01.2022 What a beautiful way to end the week! Al snapped this incredible sunrise Friday morning, with a heavy fog through the valley. Thanks for the awesome photo Al! This week the MD team has been busy prepping Hay Hole for a new trough and also installing new fencing and gate assemblies in the holding paddocks. ... Great job all round including the battle of the flies! Well done guys! We were blessed with a few scattered showers mid week which put another small run in the house creek and should hopefully keep the grass green for a little longer. Recent falls throughout the district have taken the Lake Moondarra water levels to 87.5%. The MD team spent Saturday at the lake fishing and skiing, check out the video of our newest recruit James showing off his kneeboarding skills! Until next week, cheers from MD

04.01.2022 Hello and welcome to 2020 from the Lord Cattle team! What an incredible start to the year we’ve had with over 220mm falling at May Downs and over 140mm at Nottingham. These photos taken from the MD homestead show the first full run in the house creek (Little Templeton) and our front country responding beautifully to the recent falls. Also pictured is a lightening strike from a wild storm passing by the homestead on the 2nd of January. We hope this is a wonderful start for a wet year for everyone

02.01.2022 It’s been a busy week here at May Downs catching up on repairs and maintenance. Thankfully our mate Wally stepped into the workshop to give us a hand! Cheers Wally!

02.01.2022 May Downs - The week that was... This week our crew has been busy dismantling the old mens quarters. This area will soon be home to our new machinery shed. Legend has it this old building might be haunted..... we don’t know for sure but we reckon these old quarters could tell a story or two! ... Treen has been busy this week in the kitchen keeping up with smokos. This boiled chocolate cake is a bit of a stock camp staple around here. It is so rich and decadent, you can find Treens recipe below. After a week of clear skies we have a little bit of cloud and scattered showers starting to roll through again. Hopefully they’ll stick around and chase away some of the flies! How’s the weather looking in your part of the world? *Boiled Chocolate Cake* 125g Butter 2 tablespoons Cocoa 1.5 cups Sugar 1 cup Water 2 Eggs 1/2 teaspoon Bi Carb Soda 1.5 cups Self Raising Flour Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Place the butter, cocoa, sugar and water in a large saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and leave to cool. Once cooled, whisk in remaining ingredients. Pour into a greased and lined round tin and bake for 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely in the tin. Ice with chocolate icing and decorate with choc drops, sprinkles, coconut or however you wish - Enjoy! (Recipe doubles very well and can be cooked in a baking dish if feeding a crowd!)
