20.01.2022 To the listeners.... Many festivals and concerts have had to cancel their events due to COVID-19 and this is likely to get worse. Yep, it's a shame for punters... but these events are the livelihood of Musicians, and coming from a family where both my partner and I are performers.... things are looking like they might get a little tricky.... So over this very trying period of time... make sure not to forget the ones who bring that joy into your life, the ones you'll be liste...ning to if you're quarantined. Tune in to their online concerts, send them a message of appreciation, buy their album instead of streaming it... http://patreon.com/lorenkate
20.01.2022 Hello! How are you all out there.... I've been enjoying the slow pace of life.... gardening, learning how to play the banjo and cutting off all my hair. What have you been doing?? I've also just made my music free to download on bandcamp and hard copies are $10 which includes posting. Time to make way for some new music.... which I hope will still make its way to you this spring, somehow..... I was supposed to be recording next week... not sure what the plan is yet... ... Here's the link to free downloads and cheap CD's... enjoy... I realise you're probably all listening for free on Spotify anyway so why not just make it all free! www.lorenkate.bandcamp.com
19.01.2022 Two years ago, the world lost an incredible man... Sending love to you Claudia Peoples In his memory I'm sharing this song... it's free to stream and download. ... https://lorenkate.bandcamp.com/track/ill-be
19.01.2022 My great grandfather, Lieutenant Garnet Ingamells Adcock was a strapping man and a beautiful writer. This morning I woke and my heart clenched as I read through parts of his autobiography, for the hundredth time. I'd love to share some of his writings with you... this one in particular as its Anzac Day. This is the most light hearted exert in a chapter full of Life in a trench, or a "churned cauldron of mud" as he called it. The rest of the chapter tells of bombs killing fe...llow soldiers, or trench raids, of living off rations of oxo cubes, rum, bully beef and army biscuits... and of often not seeing civilisation for months at a time. In the seriousness of it all...this part made me giggle.. My first report of enemy mining was exciting, and I rushed below to investigate. I lay on my tummy in the listening post after having sent everyone else out of the mine to prevent distracting noises. For a time I could only hear my own heart beats in the Geophone but gradually these settled down and could be separated out. Suddenly there was a tremendous crash nearly bursting my ear drums, and I contracted my body to receive the crashing timbers and earth. In a fraction of a second I worked out that Fritz had "blown" us with a small mine or "camoflet". I would be crushed to death or at least entombed. However, nothing happened, and I switched on my torch and investigated. I found that a drop of water had fallen from the roof square on to the diaphragm of my geophone!" Lest we forget. 18.01.2022 Such a strange time. I'm loving being in the garden and taking a break from our usual busy homeschool/running a venue schedule. I've been singing to my chickens (because my kids don't like my songs).... Financially, we're no doubt going to reach struggle town at some point. My partner and I are both in the Arts industry and have zero gigs for at least 3 months.... My little venue, 'Cooee Arthouse' has closed its doors. In saying that, I know we'll be fine and I have no basis for complaining, I chose this path whole heartedly and I'm filled with even more fuel to keep writing and creating and sharing. We live in Australia, we have family and friends, and we are so fortunate. So currently, we're feeling really grateful for the forced time to slow down and reassess where we are going and where we've been... If you would like to help us through, I have a Patreon page and I've recently put up a 'thing' and there's more 'things' coming. The link is www.patreon.com/lorenkate. Basically you pay as little as $5 per 'thing'. The 'things' only happen once a month, so don't worry!! That's $60 a year to be a part of my Patreon family and you'll also get access to all the past content. Bargain really. For those with more dollars to spare, go for it! I'll be eternally grateful. I see it as buying me a coffee once a month.... or buying me lunch.... I have something really special to share next month.... Can. Not. Wait. See it and hear it first by becoming a Patron of my Patreon. Eat your greens.
16.01.2022 I wasn't going to release this song to the public, just my Patreon family... my inner critic was standing in my way. However, we are going through such massive changes at the moment and I feel it's important this song be out in the world. It's about trust, banding together and not just holding on as we ride the challenges we face, but steering out ship in their direction and pushing through the darkness til the truth finds its way to the surface... Big love to my beautiful f...riend Charlie Mgee for helping extract this song from the ether. Filmed by Dave Parkinson @ Filmpark. Recorded live by Jerome @ The Cheese Factory Studio Gallery https://youtu.be/hwXR1paI5Fo
15.01.2022 'Tick Tock' made it into the semi-final of the 'Listen Up Music' songwriting prize. Adelaide Semi Final | The Songwriting Prize 2020... Listen Up Music is a music and mental health charity that celebrates music's unique ability to unite and heal.... so I'm stoked, because that's why I write music. So come along on October 3rd, somewhere in Adelaide (not sure where yet) and hear some great songs... ... Thanks Listen Up Music for listening to this song
14.01.2022 Because I can’t wait!! Tune in to my YouTube channel, 10am Tuesday to watch the whole clip

09.01.2022 It's been a tough year for the music industry so it feels humbling to be nominated for Best Folk artist in the South Australian Music Awards. Please head over and vote, even if your favourite artist is someone else. There's so many bloody awesome artists here in SA, so lets celebrate them by showing the SA Music Industry some support https://themusic.com.au/page/sam-awards-2020
08.01.2022 Playing a few songs, then make sure to head on over to https://www.crowdcast.io/e/johnpianosongs/1 afterwards to catch John Flanagan's second set!
08.01.2022 Hey out there... I've just released my next 'thing' on Patreon.... it's probably the most special one I've ever done. If you'd like to access it, plus all my past releases... follow the link and become part of the family... it basically costs $5 per month, unless I don't release anything that month, then you pay nothing. So it's like buying me a coffee, and me sharing a new song or a film clip with you.... and no one else. It's pretty spesh.
06.01.2022 On October 11th, I'll be appearing as a special guest for an online gig that the amazing folkman (I know its not a word but it should be).. John Flanagan is putting on. I first met John back in 2014 and when I first heard his voice it was like a homecoming... The feeling in my stomach was the same kin of feeling I had when I fell in love at 14 with someone who absolutely didn't love me but I didn't care, I loved them anyway.... and I spent hours in my bedroom listening to Ja...mes Taylor's album 'Sweet Baby James' on repeat... those beautiful, vulnerable, heart feels. So come along! Share in his magic. It's a pay what you feel situation. https://www.crowdcast.io/e/johnpianosongs
05.01.2022 I've just put up a new song on my Patreon page For those of you unaware of Patreon, it's a platform for artists to make a living off creating. Fans back their artists with small donations per 'thing' they release. Film Clips, new song demos, blogs etc... In my case, it's one 'thing' per month and my Patreon family sees everything first, before I release it to the rest of the world. (Sometimes I only share things with my Patreon patrons and never release them to the rest of... the world.) With a new album coming soon I have lots to share... so if you want to become a Patron on Patreon head over via the link... You'll have access to all past content and you'll even get a copy of my new album when it's finished. Keep The Arts alive Loren https://www.patreon.com/posts/34752829
03.01.2022 Tomorrow my new song, 'Tick Tock' sets sail into the world. I wrote it a while back, 2 years ago I think. At the time I was having a lot of anxiety and panic attacks. I actually wrote the song whilst having an attack. I sat down and started to sing whatever I was thinking... What came out of my mouth, saved me from drowning. I wanted to escape myself. I knew I couldn't continue with how things were. The song unraveled and then I found myself singing the last part over and o...ver and over again.... 'Time to feel, time to fold, time to rest and catch my breathe. Time to find that broken heart and stitch it up.' I needed to give myself time to feel, to sit in my feelings, to sit in my grief and pain, even when its so uncomfortable. To fold, throw my hands in the air and say 'ok, I surrender, what do I need?' To rest and catch my breathe. I'm grateful for 2020. I've had time to sit, to reassess whats important to me and sharing my music is something that is truly important. Sometimes I feel I am just the vessel for songs to be born... and in sharing them, I hope they can help others. It was hard to write all that down! But maybe in sharing we give others permission to share their stories too. The recording of this song was done in one take at my friend Michael Kirkham’s house. I was meant to just be recording a demo. I sank right in, and woke at the end to Mike saying it was so beautiful. We kept it. My beautiful friend Melanie Robinsonput some cello on it, James Newhouse mixed and mastered it... Then we made a music video..... Producer Albert Jamae brought the team together... we sat and went through so many different scenarios of what this clip will look like.. and like magic it was whittled down to what you see in the clip. Albert brought in Jack Stafford to be our leading man. I'm so proud of the way he took it all in his stride, it must have been confronting at times for him, but he nailed it. Theres a moment towards the end of the clip that makes my heart sink and goosebumps appear every time I watch it. You'll have to watch it to know what I'm talking about. Albert teamed us up with Brad Halstead master of photography, film maker extraordinaire. Man this guy is a dreamboat. He really understood the sentiment of the song and brought it to life. There's so many people to thank including tose who made it financially possible... Awesome Foundation Fleurieu , Music Development Office - South Australia, The Media Resource Centre. Chis and Beth Blackley for the ute! And my mentor Caitlin McDougall. The song will be available on most platforms tomorrow... Spotify, bandcamp, Apple Music.... And the film clip will be ready for viewing at 10am. Heres the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhAzDE34nwg If you like it, please share it. Loren
