25.01.2022 I'm getting this Fender Squier Affinity Tele ready for it's journey to Mildura. I do all of the extras that traditional retailers can't afford to spend time on, including a nice fret polish for smooth bends, and extra prepwork time on neck relief, action, intonation, string radius, pickup heights, and other details that I wont bore you with here. I can always squeeze more playability out of each guitar by investing a little more of that precious time that makes the difference between ok, and great!

25.01.2022 At this price with all of my prepwork that no retailer can justify, there's no excuse not to start learning guitar today! These new Lorden Guitars are fantastic bang for buck at only $199. They are well finished with cream binding and an Abalone Rosette found in higher end guitars. Price also includes my valuable prepwork including Compensated Bone Bridge Saddle upgrade, Fret Polish, Lemon Oil Fretboard and Bridge and more, which people pay $99 for when they bring their own guitars in to have this done. 25.01.2022 Interesting reading here, especially for those who can hear a guitar through an amp and recognize the tone of an Ash body from a distance. Wait a minute... is that mountain or swamp ash i hear?

23.01.2022 Final set-up rituals before it's boxed up and off to Cairns. This is the last American Special Stratocaster and like many good guitars, gets purchased by a new or intermediate player who likes the idea of having great tools. There's a couple of important things to ponder here. Firstly, many people are unaware that the round piece of foil that covers the Tremolo Arm/Whammy Bar hole, hides a small black spring that is used to keep tension on the Arm when in use so it sits whe...re you want it. This spring has a way of running off to a new life away from the guitar without the new owner ever knowing it was there. Secondly, it's great advice for newer players to have the Bridge/Trem Assy sitting on the deck as most Strats have problems staying in tune without a "Tremsetter" under the hood (best done by an expert). 22.01.2022 I'm really impressed with these Badger Guitars, and this Bass is no exception. Even a cursory look reveals a great neck finish, Quick change Bridge, and much more. Badger Short Scale Bass Guitars are the solution that fills the void between $300 and $1000 in "Short scale" and are nicely priced at $599. They are in the Shop section with more info. Did I mention that they have a Coil Tap switch hiding in the Tone Control? There's another white version on it's way too. (The pickguard has protective tearaway film on it in case you're wondering why it looks cloudy).

22.01.2022 I've been deep in thought and there's some interesting changes and additions going on around here, and we're also starting on the new studio out the front. Mapleton has a real village feel and many businesses are run from actual houses. such as our local Post Office.

18.01.2022 Disclaimer Notice: Greetings loyal supporters and others. As part of yet another Facebook "sidegrade" I am no longer able to manage my shop tab. This means that any items that require deletion, updating, price adjustment, cannot be edited. FB has been a constant thorn in my side and Im trying to resolve the problem without spending a pile of money and therefore increasing prices. 18.01.2022 The usual Prepwork has been undertaken to make this Martinez short-scale Dreadnought a great guitar incl; Fret Polish, Fretboard and Bridge treated with Lemon Oil, plastic saddle thrown in the bin and a nice compensated Bone Saddle shaved and fitted for better projection and more, front strap pin fitted too. Lovely Rosewood Body makes this look as good as it now plays. $219 driveaway!!!

18.01.2022 With Christmas looming, here's a pic from when we surprised our youngest daughter on her 20th B'day, who was gigging with a friend at Hahndorf in the lovely Adelaide Hills. Notice She also has a Surf Green Strat. They were paid by the council and had the tip bucket out too! We were hiding in the crowd and took the pic as she saw us.

17.01.2022 "Let the buyer beware" is an old saying that really means that the buyer should get educated, or speak with someone they trust who is. There are many people out there selling cheap electric guitars in the sub $300 range, and it can be hard for a parent to know what to buy. There's no time or room here to give a teaching on this, but apart from the guitar, is the seller putting it on his workbench and spending time polishing, dressing, levelling any frets? then adjusting the N...eck relief, string action, intonation, radius to match fretboard, pickup heights??? I do all of that and more! Most new cheap guitars come with a terrible lead as a freebie in the pack. It's so bad that I swap in my own Lead made here in-house. Why would I spend more money on something that you'll need to buy anyway? Because it matters to me. The maths is that I'm down a lead, and also prevent you needing to buy one, so Im down 2 leads in a sense. Here's a pic of my lead next to the included fare. Cheers, Trev. See more

16.01.2022 Lorenzo Concert Mahogany Ukuleles (LC23-MD) are here at $109 in limited numbers and they look good with natural satin finish and etched rosette. I put a ton of love in prepwork into these ukes and they have the biggest projection of any concert model Ive played, just like their big brother Tenor at $10 more.

11.01.2022 For many of my generation, the Fender USA E Series, (preferably from 1987 on) are the models we own and love. I shouldnt have to add a disclaimer about the L series, but they are out of reach for many, and the few guys my age who own one inherited it from their parent, or stole it (joke, put your keyboards down). This lovely baby has been owned by the same guy since new and it's yet again my privilege to fully service and detail a much loved guitar and its case too. It's one of my favourite jobs and always takes more time than I end up charging for. Even the Case looks nearly new after a ton of love.

07.01.2022 Brands that are manufactured in China are awaiting stranded shipping containers with a lack of freighters to bring it over. Many Aust Dealers are sold out of Squier, and my suppliers have the same issue with my core brands too. Christmas is on the way and it's bad timing for this. I've been doing my utmost to source what I can, which is no mean feat. I'm prepping this lovely New Fender Squier Jazz Bass which is receiving all of my usual attention including removing the string...s for a fret polish and Lemon Oil Treament for that thirsty fretboard. 07.01.2022 When shopping online for the cheapest in Australia, it doesnt matter with some products, but it certainly matters with guitars. My normal supplier of Fender Squier models is out of stock, so I've ordered a few from a dealer whom I remember talked a big game and was a bit arrogant. Well, they arrive to me exactly as they would to you, and I cant tell you how many things were found wanting. I was wondering why the tuners weren't spaced evenly, the screws weren't in all the way. The neck had a ton of relief and the truss needed a few full laps to engage. The pickup heights were so bad that the centre one makes overtones, and the list goes on. Of course they are just posting them out without a look over and that's how cheapest in Oz works! There's more but I wont bore you.

04.01.2022 New Arrival!!! As Tiki will be out of stock until February next year, I've been doing what I can to source good used stock. I have fully serviced this lovely Tiki Concert Solid Top Mahogany Acoustic/Electric Ukulele with Hardcase. You would think it was new if I didnt point it out to you. It's had a Fret Polish, Fretboard Treatment with Lemon Oil, new Aquila Strings, new batteries, Ive shaved it's Bone Saddle for perfect playing action. This looks new and is ready to go. I sell new ones at $379 but this guy is just $299 and the frets are gleaming much more than the way they arrive to me from the manufacturer.

04.01.2022 I'm very impressed with these Badger Guitars and wish we could get more. I'm so impressed with them that I bought the importer's remaining stock which is nearly gone. They are well above the Squier Affinity models and this one has been purchased by a young man who gets that. I'm doing my usual prepwork on this guitar that doesnt need much done, but it's getting it anyway. Frets get a polish and Lemon Oil treatment to fretboard. I'm setting the trem on the deck so there's no trem induced tuning issues, followed by the Set-up. What a great guitar and the Alan Entwistle Pickups are great. 03.01.2022 Yet again it's such a joy for me to service great older guitars that are here for more than just a Service, but some detail work too. This is a Tele Plus and part of my fav series. This one needed plenty of love to get it clean and playing well. The Bridge had tumbleweeds, and it's always worth checking it out as I often find a loose mounting screw. Sure it's got some fret wear but after a deep clean and polish it now makes smooth bends and sings like a... Tele Plus, and isnt that Ash Body just gorgeous too!

03.01.2022 We had a great run with the Martinez Short Scale Guitars, and many people are enjoying them. I am down to the last one and have removed my ads for them, so that the final one will either go to a visitor, or someone sent here by a friend with the same model. I wont be stocking the replacement models which no longer come in Daowood anyway. There's still a few of the Mahogany model with Piezo Endpin Pickup at $249.

01.01.2022 My favourite acoustic brand getting serviced. See how the fretboard is dry and has small cracks from contraction? Dont be afraid to be generous with the Lemon Oil as the rosewood will drink how much it wants, then wipe down. Dont forget the bridge too! Of course, I polished the frets first.
