18.01.2022 I've always wanted to create an online course, now thanks to Fibre Arts Take Two it has become a reality! I created this course to help others find their own visual language. I have been teaching similar workshops now for over 6 years and it always reminds me of the joy I had when I first went on this journey of discovery. It hasn't always been easy but I am here to guide you every step of the way. From making your own set of brushes, guiding you through a series of mark ma...king exercises, painting your own cloth to creating these beautiful sample books that become perfectly imperfect objects of desire for you to keep as a record of this time and this place in your history. For me, Perfectly Imperfect is the best compliment anyone could give me and I can't wait to see what you create and hear your stories through a private facebook community for enrolled students. It's going to be a time of deep discovery. Everyone who joins the waiting list and then goes onto purchase the course will receive one of my orignal artworks as a digital download ready to print. One lucky person will also be gifted this beautiful vessel titled 'CORAKI' that was created during the course and inspired by the Pambula River Mouth at the end of Coraki Drive. Enrolments are opening soon so head over and join the waiting list here: https://www.fibreartstaketwo.com/pages/lornacrane

11.01.2022 Whilst clearing out my studio files and old storage boxes I found these wonderful drawings that I had saved from two of my children from when they were aged 8 and 12. It refreshed my memories of that time when they worked on these projects and it was such a delight to see them again - even in their aged state. Unfortunately for me none of my childhood drawings or projects were saved by my parents, but those memories for me are still alive in my mind. From a very early age I... just loved to draw. For me it was a time to escape into my world of dreams, journeys and adventures. As a child it is so instinctual to draw and create but not everyone knows that they could be an artist one day. Some take years to discover that they have a talent to become an artist one day and find they are misunderstood trying to find their way. As a child art was a way of escaping and my drawings took me into a world of discovery and many adventures with vivid dreams eagerly willing to to share in stories. Nothing much has changed after 40 years of creating, teaching and exhibiting. A continual thread of work evolving - not so much escaping anymore but so much more about expressing my own visual language. How has your past influenced the way you work? 06.01.2022 Love the idea to be more pared down - the notion of less is more and making the most of the materials at hand. - thank you Robyn Gordon
05.01.2022 Brushmaking for me was this amazing opportuinity to open up a channel deep within me, where I discovered a deep connection to the work I was creating. They hold my story and a narrative that relate to my sense of place and identity. Somehow they unlocked a confidence where I can now talk more confidently and openingly about my work as an artist. My brushes are made from native plant fibres, ocean debris and found objects collected over many years. ... They are pieces of art in themselves before becoming utilitarian and rudimentary tools of my trade. I ofen have to persuade my students to actually use them rather than keeping them as beautiful objects of desire. Creating the first marks is an exciting time, somthing that feels more ceromoniouse to me now as I dip the brush into the ink for the very first time. Have you ever made your own brushes and mark making tools? How did you feel using them for the first time? I'm excited to share with you my process for creating your own set of brushes in my new online course. You can join the waiting list here: https://www.fibreartstaketwo.com/pages/lornacrane

01.01.2022 What has been your turning point as an artist? The people I meet and experience over many years have helped shape me as an artist. It hasn't always been easy and there have been many turning points where a doorway closes before an another opens. For me a turning point is an epiphany where something inside you is triggered that makes you question yourself. It is usually these times that make you question everything that actually helps you grow as an artist.... Join the waiting list for my new online course and share your story. https://www.fibreartstaketwo.com/pages/lornacrane
