25.01.2022 Our Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service is on patrol from the sky and has noticed a number of people on rocks close to the water where slips can occur, ...as well as rock fishers along the coast not wearing life jackets. Please remember to: Always wear a lifejacket when boating or rock fishing, it buys you time to survive Fish with a friend, always check the weather and tides at bom.gov.au and take time to observe the conditions before heading down onto the rocks. Wear light safety clothing that reduces problems if you do go into the surf and gear that stops you from slipping into the water such as cleated shoes. Carry safety gear including ropes, buckets and a mobile phone and/or EPIRB. Please take care around water this long weekend. #playitsafebythewater#Westpac #rescuehelicopter

18.01.2022 COVID SAFE PLAN Lorne Surf Life Saving Club General club access and member information Hi to all our members! I hope everyone is safe and well during what can only be described as the most unusual year we have lived through ... The Lorne Surf Life Saving Club (LSLSC) has been working with Life Saving Victoria (LSV) to develop a COVID Safe plan so we can safely reopen for the 2020/21 season. What you need to know right now: The clubhouse is closed to everyone except for the senior and youth competition team for training. The clubhouse will be a members only clubhouse this season. Members will need their key tag to enter the clubhouse. The gym will be closed for the season. The bunk rooms will be closed for the season. The Members Room will be closed for the season. Change rooms will hopefully be open but without shower access. We understand it is going to be a very different summer and season, and in many instances, there will be requirements and measures that may seem frustrating and annoying. But 2020 has been one crazy year and these measures are needed to ensure we and the Lorne community stay safe For more information or FAQ's on our COVID SAFE plan for this season please visit the COVID-19 LATEST page on our website: http://www.lornesurfclub.com.au/members-ho/covid-19-latest/ Looking forward to hopefully seeing you all in Lorne

11.01.2022 Vale Peter Greenham - 18 Dec, 1936 to 16 August, 2020 The Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club would like to extend its deepest sympathies and condolences to Anne, Peter and Lucy and their families and friends. Peter formed a lifelong friendship with another past member, Goeff Clifford. Both Peter and Geoff Clifford joined the club in the 59/60 season. They lived close by in Footscray and would sometimes travel to Lorne together down the single lane of Geelong Rd.... Peter was a committee member for several years and held the position then of Public Relations Officer. Geoff was club vice captain, an Instructor and also a committee member 59/60 to 62/63. They formed their friendship from 59/60 through till late 2019 when Geoff passed away. Geoffs' brother Norm actually designed our club logo many years ago. To all our Junior members, you have a great club, it's now your time to create your history within the club and have the opportunity to create these lifelong friendships. We are incredibly grateful for the support of CitiPower and Powercor Australia through our events Lorne Pier to Pub Lorne Mountain to Surf, helping to keep us well equipped so we can focus on keeping the beach safe. Its great to see so many people enjoying the water after a very tough 2020. Please always remember to assess the conditions and your own abilities, supervise your children, and swim between the flags. By the way, what a great photo by Lensaloft Photography!
