When Loreto Marryatville first opened, its schooling extended to educating boys in their junior primary-aged years. This is something that is unique to both the College and Loreto Old Scholars. This months story is all about how Nathaniels grit and determination led him to open his dream business the newly opened Nathaniels Coffee and Pani...ni. This feature is all about how Loreto made a positive impression on Nathaniel and how he formed friendships and connections that still last today. 24.01.2022 New OLD SCHOLAR STORY live: Although no longer the case, Loreto Marryatville has a unique history educating boys in junior primary years. With this history in mind, the April Old Scholar story edition recognises both Andrea Heading (née Newman) (84) and Paul Newman or otherwise known as the Newman Twins. The Newman twins both commenced at Loreto in 1972, just shy of their 5th birthdays; attending Loreto together from Reception to Grade 3. Paul then moved to Rostrevor C...ollege for the remaining of his primary schooling, and then later to St Peters College. Andrea graduated from Loreto in 1984. Both Andrea and Paul note their significant ties to Loreto and share their interesting and diverse career journeys. Their employment development culminated in Andrea being a campaign manager at SWEAT and Paul becoming a senior manager at Apple. Check out the Newman Twins April feature here: http://losa.org.au/?page_id=912 : photos supplied by Andrea and Paul. What have you been up to since finishing at Loreto College, Marryatville, SA ? 23.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION for Loreto Old Scholars' Netball Club players

22.01.2022 PREPARING FOR ONLINE LEARNING: During this worldwide health emergency, our girls' health and education are at the forefront of our priorities. While there have ...been no directives from the National and State Governments in regards to school closures, our staff and students have been busy preparing for online learning, putting in place various resources and plans, in case the situation alters over the coming weeks. All teachers in both the Junior and Senior Schools have been trialling lessons online with their students using Microsoft Teams and Loreto Connect; with these trials to conclude across the school by Friday this week, along with any issues that need to be adhered to. All students, by Friday, would have experienced online learning, becoming familiar with the set-up as they navigate their way through the pages on Loreto Connect and become familiar with receiving instructions online from their teachers, be that via written or verbal through video. The online learning structure for our younger students will look slightly different, with teachers working through an online plan to meet their learning needs. These contingency plans allows our students to continue their learning during a possible school closure. We thank all of our current Loreto community, both parents and students, for your understanding during this trying time, and we can assure you that we will be in the best possible position should a school closure occur.

20.01.2022 #PROUDTOBELORETO Detmold Group, run by Zoe, Sascha and Pippa Detmold (Loreto Old Scholars), continue to make the world a better place. Congratulations to the Detmold Group for continuing to be leaders at the forefront of this time in need.

03.01.2022 Important update from Loreto College, Marryatville, SA regarding Term 2

02.01.2022 What a great opportunity to help Loreto Ballarat support communities in Timor-Leste!

01.01.2022 THE WOMEN OF THE BAR CONVENT: DAY TWO Mary Ward is the founder of the Congregation of Jesus - the order to which the Bar Convent sisters belong. Born near Ripo...n in 1585 to a staunchly Catholic family, Mary felt called to become a nun from a very young age. She eventually became a Poor Clare sister, but soon realised that God was calling her to something new not to life enclosed in one convent, but to active religious life with the freedom to move from place to place. From 1609, she began to found schools for girls across Europe. In 1631, troubled by Mary's radical approach to religious life for women, the church ordered all of her schools to be closed. Mary herself was imprisoned by the Inquisition for a time, but she was determined not to give up her vision. At a time when the great universities still debated whether women had souls, Mary Ward believed: "There is no such difference between men and women that women may not do great things."
