13.01.2022 REUNION OF THE DAY: Mort We got our little green baby parakeet 2 months ago. I had him beside me on his perch. I fell asleep, in the middle of the arvo. When I woke up 30 minutes later, he was gone. We're on the 3rd floor, his wings are clipped, everything was shut and all the windows had fly screens on them. We were totally lost. I loved the way LPF was easy to find, and the ease with which I could post an ad. While it was probably too quick to get any response from the lo...cal community, I'm sure they would have helped if possible. Mort just showed up the next arvo around 1600hrs, on top of his cage. Just like that. If this happens again, make sure you look inside cupboards and anything that lets them climb (wires, clothes racks, etc) Thanks again! - Raul

03.01.2022 REUNION OF THE DAY: Zelda We got Zelda from a rescue exactly a year ago! She had been rescued after living in an attic. She was 18 months old so is now just on 2 1/2 years old. She is an absolutely gorgeous girl with distinctive black and white markings. Zelda was due for her annual vaccinations so my husband took her to our vets. Unfortunately she became incredibly scared while being transported from the car to the clinic and pushed against the cage door so hard it sprang o...pen and she took off into the section of the house behind the vets and then completely disappeared. The clinic is on an extremely busy main road and surrounded by a housing estate. My husband, son, daughter and I searched, called and put up missing posters all over the surrounding area and stayed calling her till 9pm last night with no sightings at all. We were all completely distraught when we had to give up and drive home last night. All the people we came across while searching were very kind with offers of help and the Vets are amazing. The next door neighbours to the Vet clinic were incredibly kind letting us use their back yard as a base to call from and helping us search as well. By engaging with Lost Pet Finders it gave me the sense that I was doing something positive by posting Zelda's photo and information and that if all else failed then the hope would be, someone reading the post would sight her and let us know. At first light this morning my husband drove back to the Vets (we live 15 mins drive away) and resumed calling for her in the vicinity of the clinic and after an hour caught sight of her darting across the grass in the house next door before racing under their house. My son and I arrived shortly after and all three of us crawled into the very tight dirt floor space under the house and called her while shaking the box of "treats" that she loves. After three hours my son eventually was able to throw a towel over her and crawl back out with her. Don't give up! We thought our situation was pretty hopeless. She hadn't gone missing from her own home. She was in unfamiliar territory right on a Main road. We didn't have a clue as to how far she might have ran when scared. She is very timid around strangers and would never come to a call or get close enough for anyone to catch her, it did seem so unlikely we would find her but we kept hoping and in the end were rewarded with her now home safely. - Kari
