21.01.2022 Svadhyaya means "Self Study" and a never-ending journey on the yoga path. It is an unlayering of conditioning, of our past, our ancestors, of our traumas, our joys, our passions, our gratitude..... when we look inside deeper, unlayer and discover our "whys" for our behaviour, our reactions, our emotions, our triggers, we start finding our peace.

17.01.2022 The Tree of Life has grown in significance for me over the years, so much so, I have it tattooed on my back. For me, one analogy is it represents how you feed your soul, it shows the growth of the branches and new leaves, the blossoms but you need to nourish & feed what people can't physically see (the root system) to allow the physical and mental (above ground) to become healthy. It's the foundations. What is above, is below. It also represents lifes journey. How do we cope... during times of turmoil? Like a fierce storm, the tree needs to bend and sway, it needs flexibility and to adapt with the wind or it will fall, it might lose all it's leaves and flowers, but after the storm, it is still, it rejuvenates, then grows new shoots from all the rain, heals and new branches form...a bit like humans. We need time to process, to rest, nourish before we can start to rebuild too. In the case of my tattoo, it represents all of those things but also family. My husband and I are the foundation, the trunk and branches, our ancestors are our root system, we build a life of what our parents/grandparents taught us, but we grow our own tree. Our children have the protection of the tree to live, feed, shelter but then free to fly when they grow their wings (they are my butterflies in my tattoo), knowing they can come back at any time to rest, feed and nourish in safety. What we create, manifest and give in abundance to this world, we also receive. And then, one day, the seeds of our tree will fall to the ground and we will be the root system, we will be the ancestors, the ones to nourish the new tree of life.

17.01.2022 Satya means truthfulness in Hindi...stay in your truth with kindness, in your light, live your truth. Remove expectations of others (and yours), expectations of family and community and go back to YOUR truth, YOUR home, YOUR path....this is where you will find your magic, your contentment, your peace. Be brave!

16.01.2022 Self Care doesn't have to be extravagant, like luxurious Day Spa's in the 5 star city hotel. Self Care can be as simple as simply picking nutritious food for the day, allowing an hour soaking in your bath tub with some essential oils and a good book, it could be a walk on the beach at day-break or having coffee with your favourite person, an early night to bed. Self care is saying "I am worthy" Self- care can be saying "no". It can be making choices that are good for your men...tal health in that moment with demanding, challenging or dramatic people maybe by not answering that call or connecting if it doesn't feel right. Maybe making your circle of friends that little bit smaller by choice. Or responding with silence. Something as simple as sitting on your mat with a beautiful candle, some stillness, maybe under the moon with your breath is sometimes all the love your mind, body and soul needs to be nourished, reset, rebalanced and rejuvenated.

13.01.2022 The end of year (on top of 2020 craziness) I am observing an increase in anxiety and a feeling of being overwhelmed with friends and family. So this post today is sharing a simple breathing technique to calm the mind, body and soul, you can do at anytime. The 'Long Exhale' is one of my favourites and an easy "go to", because it's simple and it works. This can be done anywhere, at any time... in your car going to work, maybe prior to public speaking, when frustration arises o...r if you struggle with insomnia, a lovely practice before you go to sleep. So bring your attention to your breath, breathing naturally for a few breaths. Feel your next natural inhale through the nostrils and with your exhale slowly release, slightly longer than your inhale. And as your body relaxes, allow the exhale to extend with each breath. I personally like to find the "pause" between the inhale and the exhale (& exhale to inhale), not holding the breath or forcing to stop, just noticing the transition between the flow of breath and I find my breath naturally slows even more. Traditionally this technique has a ratio of 1:2 (eg: inhale for 2 counts : exhale 4 counts or 3 counts to 6 counts etc). If you are finding this forced bring it back to an exhale that suits and is more natural. By nasal breathing you are engaging your lower lungs which in turn stimulate the parasympathetic nerve receptors in this area, leading to the rest and digest mode, a calming of the mind and body, relieving stress and anxiety, lowering blood pressure just to name a few benefits.

13.01.2022 In the festive season, can you find your silence, your stillness, your unlimited space

11.01.2022 Legs up the Wall, a beautiful calming pose, lying on your back, with a bolster (or prop) under your hips and raising your legs. It nourishes the parasympathetic nervous system allowing our body to rest and digest, assisting with anxiety, calming the body and mind, regulates blood flow, fluid retention, improves digestion just to name a few benefits. Your body and mind will thank you.

10.01.2022 EDIT: Maximum Lunar Eclipse is at 7.42 Brisbane time. Tonight (30/11/20 at 7.28pm Brisbane time) is the phase of the full moon. It is considered the peak of the moon cycle. Now is the time to release negativity or hurt, to put down what doesn't serve you, to forgive, to let go of emotions, to cleanse (ourselves as well as our crystals).... Enjoy her tonight my friends...

05.01.2022 Today be that bird sitting in the tree, trust yourself, you are capable, you are prepared....let yourself soar! Release your self-doubt

03.01.2022 You are enough just as you are, you are worthy, as you are kind to others remember to be kind to yourself, give yourself some peace, some stillness. Your soul, body and mind will thank you. Self care

01.01.2022 Yoga is releasing expectations on your mat: When your lap dog joins you on your mat...to soak up the yoga energy feels Perfectly imperfect!...

01.01.2022 Square breathing or box breathing is a wonderful and easy technique used to reset your breathing in times of stress or anxiety. It will assist to bring focus to your mind, calm the mind and support moving your body into activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) and away from flight, fright & freeze (needed for survival) mode. So inhale for 4 counts, pause for 4, exhale for 4, rest for 4. Visualising a square in your mind for every stage, draw a side, helping to keep your mind focused. If the count of 4 is too challenging, bring it back to 3, or you may like to extend each stage to 5 or 6 if you practice often.

01.01.2022 Sometimes the only thing you can do is just take a step, no matter how small, no matter which path you choose....be brave and just take a step. Your friends will hold space for you, your family will hold you up, your loved ones will hold your hand...support is all around.
