20.01.2022 Skin Care Sunday . Did you know our skin cells naturally turn over or exfoliate themself . This is the reason there is no such thing as a quick fix, The skin cells divide producing daughter cells called keratinocytes which take time to move through the layers of the skin pushing the old cells out (exfoliation ) ... . As the new keratinocytes work their way through the layers of the skin they transform into a cell called corneocytes these corneocytes form the outermost layer of the skin . These corneocytes will naturally exfoliate but many factors will influence how quickly this whole process takes . As you can see from this image as we age the cell turnover process slows down greatly resulting in dull, tired sluggish looking skin .
