21.01.2022 I had my last session today of facilitating a four week course on watercolour painting inspired by nature. Such a delightful four Sundays with a gorgeous group of open hearted and inspiring adults. Every week I chose two quotes to bring to the group - one on nature and one on creativity. Here’s today’s painting with one of the quotes I presented to the group. My goodness I love painting with watercolour. And I love sharing creativity with others! ... 13.01.2022 Getting festive in our home. I painted this sun and added some only details to make it pop. My homage to summer and the Solstice season. I think it looks great next to a cute as a button card illustrated by the ever talented Sophie Pittaway (aka @clindoeilillo ). I bought a few of her festive cards but had to keep one for myself and have it on display as it makes me happy to look at it! We will use these long ribbons to pin our festive cards for the year (am I second guessing... myself expecting cards to arrive in the mail? ) I know that the hanging ornaments are probably snowflakes but I see them as sun bursts welcoming the summer. #christmas2020 #summersolstice2020 #australiansummer #midsummer #natureismyreligion #sunart #watercolourpainting #inkandwash
13.01.2022 What a lovely day I had drawing on the beautiful windows of @cafeaberdeen in the lovely village of Macleod in Melbournes north. Included in this design are succulent plant illustrations bordering the bottom of the front windows. These were inspired by the lovely pots of plants sitting inside the window on a lovely sunny ledge. This piece also features a coffee tree with little lanterns hanging off to celebrate the joy of outdoor dining as the days warm up. Also included are... lush peace lilies, butterflies and a little birdie too. To celebrate the festive season a bespoke wreath was drawn on the front door/window. I had a lot of fun adding in lots of little bakery goods available from this bakehouse and also drew in trees, picnic baskets and picnic tables. 05.01.2022 A lovely afternoon drawing on the windows of @mrmartins10 in Watsonia. A beautiful cozy little oasis in a side street in Watsonia, Mr Martins is the perfect place to relax. I arrived here for lunch and chai first and then got my creativity flowing on the big windows! I used the inside shelf where diners might sit and look out as a feature for this window and drew cafe treats along it. The middle of the window features a cool summery tree with lanterns and sun catchers. Adde...d in especially are Brazilian lilies hanging in pots. This is a nod to the cafe owners Brazilian heritage. Ubderneath the ledge are tropical lilies. I also added in some Australian wax flowers. 01.01.2022 I’ve had a purposefully slow Saturday after a very jam packed start to the year working on projects. Slowing down and honouring this pace was called for by my mind, body & spirit today. So today I ate a stack of pancakes, then promptly napped on the couch. Then cloud gazed (from the couch again). After that did a little washing and cooked a huge lentil dish for dinner (and freezer dinners too). Then watched my cat for a bit (as one does) and decided she is an excellent #life...model for my mood today. So got out my new watercolour nature journal & did a few quick studies of her sleeping, snoozing, napping & eating.
