16.01.2022 The Weekly Review A Bulleen artist is gearing up to hold her first exhibition. VCA student Sorcha Mackenzie, 21, said the works on display in Labyrinthine had been inspired by a visit to Japan. Many of the faces, trees, houses, clothing and cities I experienced in my travels are woven through my intaglio and drawn pieces, she said.... My larger works are created through the old intaglio process; copper plates are scratched into with tiny needles and etched, and then the plates are printed on paper. Smaller works of mine drawn with ink will also be displayed in the gallery space. Mackenzie said her work will also feature in a satellite printmaking exhibition in Tokyo later this year. LHG Labyrinthine opens on August 20, 6-8pm, at the Louey and Lane Gallery, 1136 Glen Huntly Road, Glen Huntly. The exhibition will run until September 9.
