22.01.2022 Amazing footage of queen mating with male drone bees.

20.01.2022 Visiting our Gumdale site. Poor bees are hiding from the smoke. We will leave a water station just outside the hive site so the bees don’t have to travel. We’ve also left some pollen* out for them nearby as well. If you’re near bushland, and even if you aren’t, consider leaving a water dish out for wildlife. They are afraid of the smoke and many won’t travel far from home. Stay safe *irradiated pollen. Bio security safe

20.01.2022 Happy Wednesday

16.01.2022 European honey bees coexist peacefully with Australian Native insects. They share resources calmly, and carry on with their day.

12.01.2022 Happy Friday everyone! Looking forward to Straddie’s Sunday markets, see you honey-lovers there https://www.littlethings.com/biggest-bee-in-the-world/

10.01.2022 Please sign. This is an important step in the food chain - resting bees after pollination runs. If you like bees, or if you eat food, you need to sign this

10.01.2022 This is what drought looks like. We’ve had a bit of rain, the plants are excited and brush box is budding. Sadly, the flowers are burning before they’re opening. These should be white and fuzzy, full of nectar and covered in bees. There just isn’t enough moisture in the tree to sustain flowering. For now, looks like honey shortages will continue

06.01.2022 A great article providing some insight into our industry. The article focuses on the dreaded Varroa Mite and our front line detection by way of sentinel hives, ...a brief overview of pollination services provided by honey bees and our need for continued access to healthy forests to sustain healthy bee colonies. Irregardless if you own one beehive or a few thousand, biosecurity is everyone’s business. This is why all Beekeepers need to ensure they’ve registered their hives with the Department of Agriculture. If you’re unsure about your registration status or need to register your hives, please follow the link below. https://www.business.qld.gov.au//beekeep/hive-registration #healthybeesneedhealthytrees #australianhoney #qbabees #queenslandbeekeeping #beekeeping #bees #aussiebeekeepers

06.01.2022 Busy busy bees. They’re loving this rain!

05.01.2022 Just had a drive to one of our hive sites, after being notified of nearby fires. Fortunately it's far enough away and not heading in the bees direction. We were lucky. Many beekeepers have not been. #savethebees #australiaisburning #mourningbeesJust had a drive to one of our hive sites, after being notified of nearby fires. 04.01.2022 When life gives you self isolation, play with beeswax. Getting it cleaned and prepped, what should I make? Beeswax wraps, moisturiser, dry skin balm, solid perfume....

02.01.2022 Wow, incredible close up!
