25.01.2022 July holidays are notoriously cold and not ideal always for being away or outside. Winter is a great time for pyjama days (yes they are absolutely okay) and movie binge watching and tech devices. Always good though to look for some opportunities to have a bit of outside or away from screen time. Here’s some local suggestions - Angaston - Nuri bike track (I always do the uphill first so I can be treated with less energy needed on the down track )... - Kaiserstuhl National Park - a great walk early morning - the new Barossa Adventure Station (opening this weekend) - skatepark in Nuri - Barossa Bush Gardens And for when you need a treat - the Barossa Chocolate Factory - a hot chocolate at one of the many cafes that are needing our support - Sushi at Dai Hiroshima Sushi - a trip to Thorpys for some craft gear We are so blessed in the Barossa with such beautiful surroundings and many opportunities for an outing. Happy Holidays

25.01.2022 Having a child with an ASD in your world is an amazingly crazy, sometimes terrifying but completely engaging experience every day love this short video https://www.facebook.com/TelethonKidsAutismTeam/videos/1964975570388016/?vh=e&d=n

23.01.2022 A new week can brings new challenges but also the chance for new beginnings

22.01.2022 Difficult to manage our own uncertainties and BIG feelings at the moment - we can only imagine what's happening in our children's minds. Link below is a part of a 'Barossa Roaming' blog by local Kate McClure that provides a few tips to support your little 'chicks'. https://barossaroaming.com/2020/03/31/barossa-strong-part-2/

22.01.2022 We can simply try to deal with the behaviour or stop, step back and consider the need or purpose behind that behaviour. Happy Monday

16.01.2022 This is such a great story with a simple message about ‘winning’. What we model to our children is significant!

16.01.2022 Autism SA are offering a variety of webinars currently for parents and educators supporting children and adolescents with an ASD.

15.01.2022 Happy first day of the last term of the strangest school year!

11.01.2022 This is an interesting read. Our sense of belonging can be strengthened by the cultural connections around us and the ‘rituals’ or traditions that accompany these.

11.01.2022 If you do not know of Sue Larkey she is a great advocate and educator in the area of Autism. Well worth tuning in to her podcast.

05.01.2022 That sums it up really

03.01.2022 I’ve been thinking a lot about what is important. You can be rich, have a swag of degrees, a large social group. It is easy to be kind to those we love but being kind in every interaction during our day is free, so good for others but also richly rewarding for ourselves. Be Kind

02.01.2022 How hard is it these days to be ‘uncomfortable’. How hard is it to allow our children to be ‘uncomfortable’. The world is constantly spruiking the message of the need to be constantly happy but the reality is that discomfort is not only normal but actually good for us when we can recognise it, accept it and use it to grow. It’s a challenge but one worth accepting.

02.01.2022 Just really need to share this - it warms my heart https://www.facebook.com/248910050965/posts/10157025098340966/?vh=e

02.01.2022 Thrilled to let you all know that as of the beginning of April I am full time counselling and consulting in wellbeing in my private practice. I can be contacted via phone or by sending a message.

01.01.2022 For those times we feel like the worst parent in the universe...
