25.01.2022 With the colder weather its time for comfort food. I woke up this morning to my entire house filled with the most mouth-watering smell of baked beans that had cooked while I slept. Heres the recipe: VEGETARIAN SLOW-COOKED BAKED BEANS Ingredients:... Olive oil 2 red onion (diced) 2 garlic cloves (crushed) 0.5 cup of button mushrooms (chopped) 1 zucchini (chopped) 2 sticks of celery (chopped) 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp oregano 800g cannellini beans (canned) 800g diced tomatoes (canned) 1.5 cups vegetable stock 0.5 cup Red wine 2-3 sprigs of rosemary Directions: Heat oil in the pan. Add onions and garlic until translucent. Add mushrooms, zucchini and celery and cook for 2 minutes. Add cumin, oregano and beans and stir to combine. Add tomatoes, stock and wine and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Transfer to slow cooker. Add rosemary sprigs. Cook on low for 8-12 hours. Serve with bread roll, poached eggs, hash browns, anything you want! Enjoy your morning! This recipe is really versatile. You can add any vegetables and spices you want. Try different types of beans. Add loads more garlic to keep the winter bugs away. Just play with it!

23.01.2022 HEADACHES AND MIGRAINES TIPS FOR RELIEF: A few days ago I experienced my first ever Ocular Migraine and what a scary experience that was! I now have a lot of empathy for migraine sufferers! While there are great preventative treatments for chronic migraines, what can be done in acute cases? I wanted to share some tips with you for things you can do while you are in the midst of a migraine or tension headache: Face and Jaw exercises - there are plenty of exercises you can do ...with your face that can quickly release tension and relieve pain. Raise your eyebrows, hold, release. Squint both eyes, hold, release. Frown deeply, hold, release. Yawn wide, hold, release. These are just examples - find what feels good for you. Body scan, meditation and breathing exercises - quieting your mind and relaxing your body is always going to help with pain reduction. Scanning your body can help you to locate where you are holding tension and then you can give that area more love. Stress less and accept - stress can be a big contributor to many conditions and migraines are no exception. A migraine may be your body's way of telling you to stress less. On the flip side, Migraines can create stress because they stop you from getting things done. In my experience, I found that once I accepted the migraine and stopped fighting it I felt much better. Supplements -Magnesium deficiency has been linked to migraines. Magnesium can also offer symptomatic relief even if you are not deficient. Other supplements include B vitamins and CoQ10. Water!! It never ceases to amaze me the impact dehydrtion has on your body!! If you have a migraine make sure you are getting enough H20! But the most effect treatment, in my experience, was REST and SLEEP!! The very best treatment for migraines is preventative medicine that you use before a migraine occurs. If you suffer from reoccurring migraines book a session with me today to find out how preventative treatment can help you. In health and happiness, Louise Gray N.D.
