24.01.2022 THE BUTTERFLY LAUNCH Last night - at The Avenue Book Store in Richmond I ACTUALLY had a real life Book Launch! I WAS contemplating arriving inside one of those giant sized helium balloon or - NOT arriving at all! I was overcome with fiery nerves, a desire to flee, a desire to stay - a DESIRE to never come out of the bathroom! But come out I DID! I did NOT shut up - I read out aloud and signed books for people with kind eyes - I mingled - I watched my 16 year old son like an ...FBI agent because he LIKES the taste of sparkling wine and he could NOT understand (at his elderly age) why two glasses was IT! BUT It really was a terrific night - packed to the blooming rafters with Alannah ettes! Thank you to all who came and bought a book! Thank you to ALL the people who posted their Butterfly purchase with a kind note - but mostly - thank you for your love - I feel it and it's terribly comforting for a girl like me! 23.01.2022 Dear Loves - for all of us who are in 'Silent Scream Mode' today. Talk to a person - a dog - a cat - a pony - a neighbour - a small yellow bird - the dishwater grey clouds screaming at us from above - even talk to your good self - or lay down quietly with a Kit Kat treat under a warm blanket until the scream is but a distant hum. The silent scream will pass my loves - it descends like a black cloud spreading it's free floating anxiety at a mile or more a day - stay close to ...your own self and don't feel there is something untoward or wrong with you. The scream is within all of us loves - and it IS powerful. We just have to learn to scream out loud because a silent scream can lead to a silent life! (I am so blooming poetic with my scream talk I MAY just pop into my screaming room and SCREAM at myself right now! (I don't have a scream ing room but I might build one for all of us silent - perfect and un joined little screamers!) 21.01.2022 My new Alannahfied Study - One week ago loves this wallpapered boudoir study was what’s commonly known as a junk room! We’ve all got one. The forgotten roooom - the roooom you know is cryin’ out for a little glamour and care but it’s Lockdown and so you don’t really care! One day last week I couldn’t stand it any more! My new project? Wallpaper that junk room wall girl! I took a risk on an Italian vintage wallpaper site (one for beginners where a ten year old couldn’t stuff u...p!) The wallpaper arrived in beautiful sheets with glue and a brush and a video where nobody stuffs up!) All you need ladies for a wallpaper make over is to order it on the line @wallpapers4beginners (It’s really inexpensive) Steal a neighbours really tall ladder. (Be very careful when balancing a glue brush in one hand while the other ensures the wallpaper is smooth as well as balancing on the TOP of the ladder while guzzling lemonade from a bottle!!) I nearly fell 40 metres to certain death - toppling through glass windows landing spread eagled and head first into the rose garden below. I didn’t topple but it was VERY close! I wallpapered the junk room myself over two days with a little help from @hugo_race_helixed ( he got a little weary of wallpapering and so I mainly did it myself! He thinks otherwise but I know the real truth!) So loves, get wall papering and turn that junk room into a floral vintage glamour room - a room that you can call your own. Look through the photos and you’ll note I had wall paper sheets left over so I added some glamour to my bedroom! Good luck and be very careful on that ladder! 19.01.2022 This morning at 6.30 am I was THE special Guest Speaker at a Business Chick Breakfast event! Yes that's right my loves - I was WIDE awake at 2.00 am glueing sequinned lashes onto my own lashes! And here I am with the phenomenal founder of Business Chicks @emmaisaacs at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne! (Emma has FIVE children - had just flown in from LA - has JUST completed her own book and is doing around 5000 other things which would have me squawking and complaining for daaaaaaaaze! 18.01.2022 I DID it loves! Yes! That's correct! I DID it! 'What did you DO Alannah?" I hear a Face Book lady cry. "I HOPE it wasn't something GREAT (she cries again) " I'm TRAPPED at home with screaming kids! They've ALL morphed into mini MONSTERS with rabies, I'm on my third wine, ready for my FOURTH, and then I'm going to BREAK EVERYTHING in sight! What are you selling Lady ....it better be bloody good!" It IS bloody good! I titled it " The Handbag of Happiness (and other misunders...tandings, misdemeanours and misadventures) I wanted 'misconduct' but I had to settle for 'misadventures'! The Handbag of Happiness is a collection of rollicking, defiant, real-life stories where self-improvement is satire and life-changing moments are found in the absurdity of our mysterious little lives. 14.01.2022 KINDLING CHORE - I am ON the go! Five degrees and the weather Ap alerted me to a howling spectacular jaw dropping hail storm just about to hit! I was asked to POP out and find some dry kindling - DRY KINDLING!! Ill find you some blooming dry kindling! (I will admit it took two hours and I MAY have dragged home (to my Writers Retreat) a large branch - (just in case it snowed and we were forced to stay indoors for weeks - maybe even months!) People say the branch that bears... the most fruit bends thankfully towards the ground??? Lucky for me my branch held no fruit and was just lying there on the ground - fruitless and weary! I feel the fruitless branch was thrilled I took it for a long walk - I feel pretty damned awful about what happened next - nothing KIND about KIND ling - BUT - I did find dry kindling and feel I really branched out!! 13.01.2022 New Years Eve and I'm ready to grieve! I pre wrote my loves upbeat, optimistic, daring sentences about who would DARE pose like an op shop surprise in such a beautiful natural setting - posing and carrying on next to a tree looking a little bit like me! I would! I would dare pose like that on NYE! And then all hell broke loose! My car was stolen at 5.31 by Tow Truck drivers coz I 'd accidentally parked in a clear way!! On NYE!! The taxi to retrieve it, the money one is forced... to pay at the Inpound where 20 others are also roaring - 'Its bloody NYE!!" Solidarity at the Inpound! I had no ID. I was told to wait! More hell broke loose and then I was finally allowed to leave. The red tape - the 'No! We don't accept book covers as ID. You'll have to get a Stat Dec at the Police Station in Tasmania!!" I MAY have lost consciousness and bad Alannah was reborn! I mighta told them I was the carrier of a bleak and deadly disease and gimme back my blooming CAR! I mighta even shouted out like a teenage loon 'TYPHOID FEVER - you're now all dead!' My pre written message was lost when my car was towed far far away! It was poetic and thoughtful and a little bit sad! Oh TOO bad Alannah! Just blooming say it! 12.01.2022 GEELONG GRAMMAR AND ME! Last Evening I presented my Butterfly Talk at Melbourne's Posh Geelong Grammar school! Yep! I was in GEELONG in a schooooool waaaaay past my bedtime! A sensational evening with the incredible VERY FIRST FEMALE Principal of Geelong Grammar, Rebecca Cody from Tasmania! (Just like me) Here I am in the beautiful theatre which sat alongside a gorgeous majestic haunted Chapel right next to an equestrian and pony situation RIGHT across from an Olympic sized ...swimming POOOOOOOL with a giant sized library as big as a suburb! We EVEN had dinner in the Chapel and I EVEN sat in the new principals office in a powder blue velvet chair! I've never felt quite so welcome! Sooooo welcome in fact I'm considering becoming a teaching BOARDER at the schoooooool - Rebecca, the first female principal in 2000 years isn't QUITE aware I will be teaching the students ALL about love, loss, reinvention, entrepreneur style rebellious behaviour (Alannah style) how to ride a piebald pony side saddle, PLUS Fashion AND style! Thank you to the enigmatic Mr. Lloyd Cook, and the magnificent staff at Geelong Grammar and the marvellous sassy Rebecca Cody (the VERY first female Principal from Geeveston Tasmania) What a blooming school! My little mouth and I were in awe! I DON'T know WHY you think you're SOOOO successful - You're NEVER in The Mercury DEAR! EVER! I don't think The Mercury newspaper LIKES you very much DEAR! I DON'T think ANY Newspaper likes you very much DEAR" The Mercury is Tasmania's posh newspaper and LOOK a...t that - I finally made it Mum!! I know my Mum would be mortified with my grandiose show off eeee ways - but despite it all - I loved Mum - I still love her and ....oooh Mum - if ONLY you could see me now!! I will be at Fullers Book Store in Hobart this Tuesday 22nd May at 5.30 pm - Reading and signing my memoir for everyone in Hobart - (and wishing like HELL my Mum was in the front row cheering me along!
