23.01.2022 This is when we could travel to international destinations. It was my 50th birthday trip to Paris. My husband and I managed to fly first class for the Dubai to London sector. Amongst other gorgeous benefits such as gourmet food and amazing wine choice it enabled us to shower before touch down at Heathrow and go straight to dinner with our daughters. Amy was living in London at the time while Emma arrived earlier into London with her boyfriend, now husband, Steve. I love ...visiting London but Paris is my true love. The architecture, the history, the language, and the food. Paris is so walkable with museums, markets, parks, monuments galore to absorb along the way. Even the street lights are beautiful. The several times I’ve stayed in Paris has mostly been in apartments where I feel a little closer to living a Parisian life. The areas I enjoy staying in most are the 6th and 2nd arrondissements. Our time in Paris to celebrate my birthday included staying in an apartment, a trip to Champagne, and a road trip in the Loire Valley. A very special time with my family, one I am so grateful for. I am looking forward to safe international travel but for now pleased I have had such wonderful travel experiences in the past to revisit in my memory and photos. 20.01.2022 Thinking of travel and Italy. The Milan shoe fair, called Micam, is somewhere I love to go to be inspired, educated, communicate with suppliers, and to to be totally honest simply visit the gorgeous city of Milan. Not sure when I will be able to go again. ... The Micam shoe fair is known to be one of the best international shoe fairs in the world. Italy is renowned for being leaders of fashion and luxury quality products. The fair includes workshops and runway shows, and Pavillon upon Pavillon of shoe suppliers to research, search, admire, and either eliminate or add to a list of possibility. Milan was one of two European shoe fairs I attended annually when I first started Louise M. I went back last year to not only meet with my manufacturer who has a stall there but to find potential additional suppliers. I usually spend a whole long day there, although one year I broke it into two shorter days. It is exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. The trip from Perth to Milan can be via London or Dubai depending on whether I fly Qantas or Emirates. I wonder what the choice is going to be when I am next able to travel to Milan. Fortunately I have suppliers who are still making shoes, and couriers who can still deliver to Australia. 19.01.2022 Why are these shoes on this rack? These are Louise M shoes part way through the process of production in the factory, in the Tuscany region of Italy. The upper leather has been hand stretched and secured in place over the last (the shoe mold). ... The next steps are to place the outer sole on the bottom of the shoe and the chosen heel in place, hence the shoes in an upside down position for ease of construction. Just as the leather adjusts to the shape of the last it is made on, the leather will adjust to the wearers foot once worn. This is the beauty of quality leather. We use full grain leather, the best leather. The shoe making process is fascinating and exciting. Every time I am in the factory smelling the leather, and watching these true craftsman, like artists, develop a shoe from your vision and detailed specification I am just so grateful and pinch myself that I am there. This image was taken before Covid changed the world. Travel to Italy will again be possible and a ticket to Florence will be my first flight booked. 18.01.2022 A fabulous transformation of restaurant/bar Rambla in South Perth. Perfect for a sunset drink overlooking the Swan River and Perth city skyline. I was fortunate to be there as the city lights came to life and the river was on display at its best. This venue has always struggled to find momentum, situated next door to Coco’s a long time established restaurant of the area.... I believe Rambla may have got it right this time. They do have competition with the much loved, jetty positioned, Mr Walker but I wish them all the very best for summer, and hope they will become a South Perth long term favourite for locals and visitors alike. A new deck on a lower level, a bar on the original verandah, blue and white striped umbrellas and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating including booths, ensures a great atmosphere and options for all weather. 17.01.2022 Planning a meeting away from your home office? Today I had a meeting away from the office and if I may say so myself, I made a fabulous location choice! @westenddeli (Perth WA). ... Travelling from opposite directions I wanted to choose a convenient location, with super easy street parking, free without having to watch the clock. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, with plenty of space, plenty of tables, and easy to have a conversation with a low noise level. The meeting was at 1pm so I arrived early to prepare and have some lunch while doing so. This is a welcoming venue to enjoy on your own too. I felt completely comfortable to sit alone. An interesting ordering system on the table allows you to scan your phone for the menu, order and pay. This eliminates waiting for service, or interrupting the conversation to speak with staff. Of course you can still order direct with staff and pay at the counter if you prefer. The soup of the day was delicious and great value at under $10. A few slices of fresh baguette accompanied the soup, a hint of French cuisine always makes me happy A highlight was discovering the #lovewall on one of the outside brick walls. Not only colourful and fun this clever artistic feature adds to the overall experience. Well done West End Deli, Ill be back soon. 13.01.2022 I blinked and its nearly gone Actually I had a very full weekend. A big win was the fact I had misplaced my black patent loafers since our trip to outback Melengata Station in June. I was so sure they had made it back to Perth but countless searches to find them were unsuccessful. An email to station owner Jo confirmed the shoes were still there and postage back has been arranged. A great relief to have found my shoes. I love them! ... All my shoes have history, a story, and are special to me. It may seem a little strange but shoes are my thing. Tods driving loafers are made in Italy, by human hand. The Tods brand began in the 1920s and although all their shoes are beautiful, a particular favourite of mine is the iconic loafer. a casual sophisticated (and so comfy) shoe. The unique construction is of additional interest to me, and one day perhaps I can share that with you so you know too. Friday night was special, grand parenting with our first grand daughter sleep over. She is absolutely divine and sleeps 12 hours at night.. so easy. It is Sophies Birthday mid September so we went shopping with her mum, my daughter Emma, to find a birthday party dress on Saturday. No luck so far but if you have some suggestions of where to look wed love to hear from you. Saturday night was spent with very dear friends over dinner. We met this group of 4 couples when our girls were at the local primary school and have remained firm friends ever since. Every one pitches in bringing a dish and just like that we have a delicious meal to share. Today started with a lay in bed morning.. meditating, then listening to Jack Canfield talking about Success Principles. Ive now downloaded his audible book and have been listening to that during my car travels today. Motivating and inspiring, I continually read and listen to the world leaders in self development, personal and business success. Do you have someone that has made a significant positive impact on you? The day continued with five hours spent at Perth Airport, before a lovely catch up with my other daughter Amy. 03.01.2022 Relax, recharge and enjoy your weekend! Ive had a very quiet week at home which apart from being a little unwell, was really enjoyable. Day 3 I rose from sleeping, washed my hair and started eating, with caution, again. Giving me permission to lay low was my GP telling me that this was going to take a week so stay home. I used my recovery time to tidy my house a little, spring clean a little, and in the process started thinking more clearly. ... Note to self: dont wait until youre forced to stop before you start looking after yourself. Second note to self: dont wait until someone else gives you permission to stop, give yourself permission. The sun is shining so Im going to go for a walk at the beach today. Its always great for my mind, body and soul. Wishing you a beautiful weekend too

03.01.2022 Louise M Travel Review. An overnight stay at the Premier Hotel Katanning has been on my´to do’ list this year. My husband and I were joined by two other couples, we booked about 6 weeks in advance. The 22 room hotel was full last night, so I suggest book ahead especially for a weekend stay. Sunday nights are half price when staying a Saturday or Monday night also. Katanning is about 3 hours by car south east of Perth Western Australia, in the wheatbelt region. The farmers ...are currently harvesting their crops, there are golden fields as far as the eye can see. The Premier Hotel is an architectural award winner transforming an old flour mill into a modern hotel while retaining much of the machinery throughout. There is a wine bar below the reception entry level named the Cordial Bar as there was once a cordial business existing in the building. Enjoy a fabulous wine list and share plates. The Dome group own the hotel with the cafe offering eats throughout the day. If you are a group reserve a table for breakfast to ensure you can get one. There is not a great deal to do in Katanning but it is a lovely town with buildings from the early 1900’s still existing. The town was established in 1898 and impressively tidy. We had fun at the All Ages playground, with adult swings, slides, flying foxes, seesaw and more. This proved we really are just kids in adult bodies Stay overnight or take a few days to explore further south, to Castle Rock walking the track to the lookout, or I can personally vouch for Castle Rock wines. Drive further to Albany if you have the time. 02.01.2022 Confidence in front of the camera is important to tell your story and communicate effectively so off I went to radio and TV presenter @carmen_braidwoods Presenting to Camera one day course. Right from the start of the day Carmen puts you in front of the camera, to introduce yourself to the other participants. Behind the camera was videographer Klissa Petrovich from @cube.creative. Klissa really had her work cut out for her. A huge thank you to Klissa for her patience, r...eassurance, and brilliance. Overcoming self conscious thoughts was my roadblock, however it is essential to feel the fear and do it anyway. As Lorna Jane Clarkson says the fear that is stopping you is just a feeling. My goal was to learn some tips from the pro herself, Carmen, and become confident. The day was really enjoyable. We even had an attempt at presenting a piece from a real TV show, learning and delivering some lines that Carmen has presented in the past. The trick though was delivering the lines but in your own words so it sounds like YOU. This was an exercise in delivering a script that a client may write but presenting the message in your own words so it sounds like you have written them. By the end of the day we had all completed a 60 second business pitch to camera to keep for our own use. The additional highlight was meeting the other participants, with such interesting business stories and who happened to be really lovely people. A fun, informative, camera action day. Now to do more on camera work!
