23.01.2022 Its been very hot and humid lately, plus the air quality has been terrible. This week has been fun, getting back outside everyday.
23.01.2022 Group Play My little ones are growing up and expressing themselves in a multitude of ways. It can be a frustrating time for them, knowing exactly what they want and not being able to express themselves verbally. They dont understand social cues and are very focused on their own needs, not yet recognising the needs of others, the whole world revolves around them. 23.01.2022 The weather has been gorgeous and we've been spending a lot of time in the garden. There is a lot to do and I let the children decide on which activities we do each day. Recently we have been tending to our vegetable garden and watering all our plants. Everyone has loved water play, pouring, tipping, splashing and filling. We've been using the balls to kick, throw, roll and catch. We've been talking about how green the grass is and how blue the sky is. We've been naming thi...ngs like the clouds and trees, and leaves, buckets, watering cans etc and counting the steps as we go in and out. We've also been practising our sun safety with our application of sunscreen and wearing our hats. See more
23.01.2022 Following the children's interests - can we do hand painting? Sure, of course we can.
23.01.2022 Casual Occasional Care now available. Louise 0404 0303 93. Elizabeth St Ryde. The children are always interested in new things and I try to engage them and follow those interests as much as possible. We have had the best week, here are a few of the activities weve done. Painting has always been very popular and now the children are a little older, Ive introduced the rollers. Miss F2 usually starts off with a brush, painting the paper. She then goes on to paint her hands. To...day for the first time, we tried rollers and they were a big success. They are just as fun as brushes which was evident by the huge smiles on the childrens faces. Most importantly, you can still paint your hands with them. We have also branched out and were giving glue a go. Mr L1 took to it straight away and really enjoyed swirling the stick around the paper before slamming down square pieces of paper everywhere. We are looking at shapes and, in this instance, squares. Using stick glue, we created collages. Music time is becoming so much fun as all the children are starting to speak and learn the words to all our songs. They love banging and shaking along with the music or making their own. Current favourites are Open Shut Them and If Youre Happy and You Know It This week we have also been spending a lot of time in the garden because the weather has been lovely. We have a new cubby house and I cant get the children to come out. They are loving opening and closing the doors and windows, rearranging the furniture, and calling to each other out the door. As always, the bikes have also been popular. The younger ones are just getting the hang of pulling themselves along with their legs instead of standing up and walking with the bikes. 20.01.2022 We had a brilliant morning at Playgroup yesterday. The children ran in and scattered. There were so many new activities and toys to explore that for the first few minutes they just ran around and checked everything out. My kids love craft, so they all settled on the painting easels first. There were also trays with golf balls sunk into paint for the children to roll around on paper which gave them an interesting sensory experience. We enjoyed sitting on the mat and eating morning tea together, but not for long, there was too much to do EYLF: O4 Children are confident and involved learners.
19.01.2022 We added coloured sticks and pasta to our playdoh this week. It was a great opportunity for the kids to use their imaginations. The most popular idea was a birthday cake. We counted the sticks and AJL had 26 candles on his. We discussed the colours and we hid pasta in balls. This was a fun fine motor activity as the children pulled the balls apart looking for pasta. 18.01.2022 Painting I am loving the stage that all my children are at now. They are showing a real interest in everything and their excitement is contagious. We are exploring painting and using a variety of different tools to apply it to paper, cardboard, foil, the table top and really anything we want. We have tried sponges, brushes, cotton buds and the very popular fingers and hands. ... This is a great opportunity for the children to express themselves and have fun. The sensory experience of squishing slippery, cold paint between their fingers has been met with some reluctance for a few of the children but once they gave it a go, they really enjoyed it. A couple of the children have been painting their own hands and slamming them down onto the paper with great enthusiasm and I have been helping the younger ones to do the same. We have been talking about the different colours and the children have been picking their own colours. This is a great way to give them choices, allows for decision making and gives them an opportunity to express themselves. Painting helps with hand eye coordination, mobility, muscle strengthening in the hands and fingers and is just so much fun. We are at the foundation or early learning stage where I am familiarising the children with the potential of paint. We will eventually look at shapes, sizes, patterns and colour mixing results but at this stage, paint, paper and no expectations, is a great, fun way to start. 16.01.2022 It's been a great season for our fruit trees and we've been collecting mandarins, lemons, grapefruit and oranges. We put our worm farm juice and soil around our citrus trees to help them grow. The children are really interested in how their banana skin goes into the worm farm, it is eaten by the worms and that makes natural fertiliser for our trees. The trees then grow yummy fruit for us to eat. Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world. d) Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.

Soft plastics can be taken to Coles and Woolworths and thanks to the Redcycle program they'll be turned into str...eet furniture, playground equipment and more. Unfortunately, a lot of soft plastics make it into our red and yellow bins where they are diverted to landfill, from bread bags to confectionery wrappers, frozen food packaging and chip packets. 12.01.2022 What happens if you mix the colours? What does red and yellow make? Blue and yellow? Red and blue? We've had a great time experimenting with our paints. It's been interesting to watch the older children discover that more than two or three colours often leads to brown. Red and white creating pink was also popular. 11.01.2022 The big kids love looking at photos of themselves and their friends so we created a 'My Friends' board. Everyone has their photo on the 'My Friends' board and when they arrive in the morning, they move their photo over to the, 'Who is here today?' board. It's been great fun and they are loving helping the babies move their photos over when they arrive.

It has been great fun talking about how the sun and rain help the plants grow, looking at lizards, lady birds, feeding the worm farm, putting leaves in the compost and watching the leaves come back to the deciduous trees. Everyone is still young so this is foundation learning, exposure to topics that we can expand on as their understanding increas...es. Each time we go outside, we take a minute to look around, take a deep breath and see what we can see. EYLF: The children have been working together to create our display and are developing a sense of belonging to a group and community. They are also learning about their environment which will help them be socially responsible and show respect for the environment. (O2) See more
08.01.2022 We planted our sunflowers at the end of September and now have 43 little sprouts coming through. We waited and watered and suddenly hooray, our first sunflowers broke through. The children were thrilled. This activity has opened up endless conversations. We've talked about watering and how everyone needs to drink including our plants, the sun and how it helps both us and the plants grow. We've talked about worms in the soil and how they make tunnels and aerate the soil. Our ...worm farm juice and the soil will be good for our plants too. We all know how to plant seeds now and that gardening and being in the fresh air is like exercise and it's good for us. With the weather warming up, we've been talking about hats and sun screen. Before we go outside, we find our hats, this is so automatic now that if I say, "Let's go out the back.", all the children run to get their hats first. Sunscreen has been very popular because I've been encouraging them to apply it themselves and the older kids love looking in the mirror and making sure they cover all their arms and legs. 01.01.2022 Rice paper rolls! We are going to make these more often. The children loved making them themselves and choosing their own ingredients. I was pleased and surprised at how willing they were to load their rolls up with healthy, colourful vegetables.
