25.01.2022 LEARN TO ROW | Our Year 8 students have finished off their Term 4 Learn to Row program with water training at Lake Kurwongbah and Coomera. We look forward to welcoming our current Year 7 students in Term 1 for their Learn to Row Program.

25.01.2022 BREAD MAKING | Year 7 Food, Nutrition & Textiles (FNT) students have investigated the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and The Dietary Guidelines for Australians to explore healthy snack ideas for adolescents. Using the design process, the girls have investigated, generated, collaborated, produced and evaluated a snack size whole grain bread product aimed at the teenage target market. They sure do look delicious. Fabulous job girls!



25.01.2022 CAREER CONVERSATIONS | Students enjoyed engaging with Past Pupil, Georgina Morgan (Grad 2010) about her exciting career in law at our Career Conversations virtual presentation. Georgina was the College Captain at LHC in 2010 and since graduating from University has gone on to work as a Judges Associate in both the District and Supreme Courts. Georgina is currently a Senior Lawyer at Crown Law, where she works on a range of statutory prosecutions, Dangerous Prisoners and Mental Health Review Tribunal matters. Georgina also volunteers her time as a Committee member of the LHC Past Pupils' Association. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, Georgina.

23.01.2022 YEAR 12 HOPE & HEALING DAY | LHC Year 12 students participated in their annual Hope and Healing Day. Thank you to Project Hatch for leading the students through hopes, fears and affirmations as they look forward to the next phase of their journey. Well done Year 12 students.

21.01.2022 OUTREACH AND CULTURE | As part of our Outreach Program at the College, our students usually visit Regis Aged Care in Bulimba once a month for a sing-a-long with the elderly residents. Under the current circumstances this program is on hold, however, LHC students wanted to reach out to elderly residents in our community and decided to send them some videos showcasing our vocal, instrumental and dance groups. A variety of videos were shared with Regis Aged Care (Bulimba), Lorocco Nursing Home (Carindale), Con Noi Retirement Village (Carindale) and St Luke’s Green (Woolloongabba). We hope that they enjoyed them.

18.01.2022 BRISBANE PORTRIAT PRIZE | LHC students and staff can marvel at the talented Year 12 Visual Art artists work entered into the Brisbane Portrait Prize, proudly displayed in our Bernadette Centre. Some of our talented artists chose to create a portrait of themselves, communicating their thoughts, hopes and dreams, in reaction to their year 12 experiences. Competition prize finalists will be announced later this month with the finalists Exhibition to run from September 30 until November 1 at Brisbane Powerhouse. 17.01.2022 PAST PUPILS' ASSOCIATION | Thank you to our LHC Past Pupils' Association who have generously contributed $15,000 to the LHC Foundation for the LHC Annual Appeal. The 2020 Annual Appeal proceeds are currently supporting College families who are in need. At times of crisis, such as the current worldwide pandemic, the true Good Samaritan spirit shines brightly.

16.01.2022 YEAR 12 ESSENTIAL MATHS | Financial Literacy is such an important part of life. Year 12 Essential Maths students are working on their final problem-solving and modelling task involving exploring compound interest and using their knowledge to choose the best personal loan conditions. Well Done!

12.01.2022 LHC PAST PUPIL | Congratulations to LHC Past Pupil, Keira Bakes (Grad 2017) who has won the Robert Kennedy Anatomy prize, awarded by the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland. This is given for the highest percentage (grade) in the subject Biology 2200 Anatomy. A great achievement for Keira!

11.01.2022 TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL | For many years, LHC has run a Transition to High School Program for our local feeder schools to help prepare the Year 6 students for their transition into high school. LHC students Jessica and Margot recently virtually visited their old primary school, St Oliver Plunkett and spoke with the Year 6 students answering their questions about transitioning to high school. The Year 6 students were excited to hear about Middle School life and meeting new friends. Thanks for participating in our virtual event!

10.01.2022 YEAR 12 GRADUATION CEREMONY | Congratulations to our Year 12 students on a beautiful Graduation Ceremony. We congratulate our 2020 Year 12 students and recognise their achievements, leadership, teamwork and outstanding contribution to College life. This cohort have led by example, inspiring each other to be kind, caring and compassionate to one another and to make a difference in the world.

10.01.2022 CAREER CONVERSATIONS | Students enjoyed hearing from LHC Past Pupil, Karla Mayfield (Grad 2011) at our Career Conversations Virtual Presentation. Karla is a Clinical Pharmacist currently working at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and enjoys the challenge of working to optimise the care provided to hospital inpatients as part of a dynamic healthcare team. LHC students were able to ask Karla questions about her road to becoming a qualified Pharmacist and Queensland healthcare.

09.01.2022 VOTE for LHC Past Pupil Mary O'Brien | Vote today https://awardsaustralia.app.do/2020-qcaa-ppls-choice for LHC Past Pupil and Agricultural Scientist, Mary O’Brien, finalist in Queensland Community Achievement Awards - Community Hero Award. Mary is a deserving and inspirational finalist. She is the founder of Are You Bogged Mate? an initiative that highlights mental health issues in men living in rural and remote areas of Australia.

08.01.2022 MEMORABLE MOMENT | It’s 1939 and the infants are practising their dance for the end of year Concert. The Hall (now known as Duhig Hall) was transformed into a Fairyland for the little ones to entertain their families. Back in 1939, Lourdes Hill taught students from Kindergarten through to Senior. This week, our current students are preparing for their end of year Christmas liturgy.

08.01.2022 NOVA | LHC Year 7 student Alice and her Dad were excited yesterday morning to be on the NOVA 106.9 morning quiz to play against LHC Past Pupil, Suzie ONeill in a round of Smarter Than Suse. After trying for months, their big moment finally came and even though they lost by a few seconds they still came away winners with a family pass to the Brisbane Eye and a $100 butcher voucher. Very exciting.

07.01.2022 CAREER CONVERSATIONS | Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to hear from Past Pupil, Dr Fiona Raciti (Grad 2003) at our Career Conversations Virtual Presentation. Fiona is a General Practitioner and co-owner of Family Doctors Plus, a large medical practice in Windsor. As a self-taught business woman, Fiona loves sharing her career journey, in particular with other women.

06.01.2022 MEMORABLE MOMENT | It’s 1950 and the Lourdes Hill orchestra takes a break for a precious snapshot. The LHC Music Program has produced many wonderful musicians and vocalists including Margaret, the student playing the cello. Margaret’s love of music and her connection with LHC lives on in her granddaughter Emily, a 2020 graduate, and her son Mr Andrew Russell, a teacher at LHC. If you have fond memories of either playing an instrument or singing at LHC please let us know.

05.01.2022 HARMONY DAY LUNCHEON | LHC Year 12 Hospitality Practices completed their final assessment for the International Cuisine Module by hosting a Harmony Day Luncheon in our own Hospitality space. Life skills were employed by the students when working within the kitchen, food and beverage sectors of the hospitality industry. Students worked safely and effectively with others in planning, implementing and critiquing the delicious luncheon. Well done to our Senior Hospitality Students on this final engaging experience.

05.01.2022 DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS GRADUATES | The Corporate Training Institute (CTi), as part of Lourdes Hill College (RTO Number 30517), is proud to present our 2020 Diploma of Business Graduates. Our learners were officially inducted into the Institute’s Alumni Program at the Inaugural Graduation Ceremony. We are proud of their hard work, resilience and determination in effectively completing this nationally recognised Diploma level qualification. 04.01.2022 PEER EDUCATION | Year 11 Health students lead the way in peer education, delivering action strategies for healthy living. Students provided informative, engaging and interactive activities about alcohol for Year 10 Health students. The aim was to enable actions that develop personal skills and a supportive peer environment around healthy lifestyle decisions. Well done girls!

04.01.2022 MEMORABLE MOMENT | Its 1996, and our students are gaining some hands-on experience with our latest LHC computers. Who could have imagined that these museum pieces could be transformed into portable laptops weighing less than 1.5 kilograms. How times have changed.

01.01.2022 We welcomed the newest members of the LHC community for the Year 7, 2021 orientation. The Year 6 students enjoyed a day of enrichment and orientation to the rhythm of a high school day including experiencing their first taste of Art, Music and Drama, a School tour, and getting-to-know-you activities.

01.01.2022 MEMORABLE MOMENT | In 1999, Rowing was introduced to Lourdes Hill College and our first eight were keen to hit the water. Fast forward 21 years and our 2020 first eight are currently training for the South East Queensland State titles being held this weekend. Go Lourdes!
