24.01.2022 Phonemic and Phonological Awareness are both needed in the development of reading . The starting blocks are Rhyming, Syllables and Alliteration. Our Love2Learn Program incorporates all of these skills. These presentation slides are very helpful when trying to understand the stepping stones to reading development in children. If children are struggling to blend words even though they know the individual sounds we can look at the other skills that come before that and help work on them in order to step ahead !

23.01.2022 Love2Learn ran a Springtime Kids Holiday Program and it was spectacular ! We did Kids Yoga and a guided meditation. We made Flower and glitter jars and took home some seeds in a pot to watch grow. We talked about ways to spread seeds of kindness to others and we decorated biscuits. www.love2learn.com.au

21.01.2022 B l e n d i n g A crucial skill for all when learning to read. Blending helps students to decode unfamiliar words using letter-sound patterns when reading. All... children need to become highly skilled at blending to form recognisable words. If you have a child that struggles to blend, try using continuant consonant sounds. 21.01.2022 So heres how we do Daily reviews in our Literacy classes.....which are really Weekly reviews in our case ... At the start of each class the children share items from home that start with the sound from the last week and we revise the animal friend and Milos Birthday Surprise pages that we read the week before. When we chant our sounds using our Animal friend cards we always cover all the sounds we have learnt so far and we make words using all the sounds we know each class.... In our Maths Magic classes we always begin or end our sessions with a revision of topics worked on in the last few weeks. For example if we worked on Tens frames week 1 then in week 2 we might show the children some tens frame color cards and let them tell us how many are on the tens frame and then how many more until we reach ten. After that I may have picture cards to do with Weight showing different animals on a see saw . We ask the children to tell us what these diagrams show us and how it correlates with the story we read and the scales we used the week before. This may only take 5 minutes but it makes all the difference with consolidation of concepts. See more

18.01.2022 Today in our Prep class the children were learning about the sound TH We talked about words starting with th and words ending with th. We worked with the words.. the then this that than there and made sentences using those words. The children enjoyed doing their TH spell check with pictures and using whiteboard textas ! 15.01.2022 Wow did the kids have fun today at our Holiday Program... Peppa Pig goes Shopping activities and Kids story Yoga We learnt about Australian coins and notes. We went to our local Supermarket and bought everything on Peppas Shopping list then we played shops at Love2Learn. We had baby cinos and Peppa Pig cupcakes for our snack. Then we read The snow Wombat and did some very clever kids Yoga poses to match the storyline.
