16.01.2022 Our MidWaste Love Food Community is rolling out some great new food-loving initiatives that are currently gathering momentum, this time in schools! Each year, students throw away 3.5 million uneaten sandwiches, 3 million pieces of whole fruit and 1.3 million packaged foods. In response, four schools in the Kempsey area have rolled out Lunchbox Leftovers, a pilot program in collaboration with MidWaste, Behavior Works and Kempsey Shire Council and us here at Love Food Hate Waste that will help identify ways to reduce it. 01.01.2022 To keep your favourite loaf fresh throughout the week, we have some simple storage DOs and DONTs, courtesy of our friends at Love Food Hate Waste - Community. DO: store in a cool, dark and dry place, like a bread bin or cupboard, or in original packaging. DONT: store in the fridge it will make it go stale quicker!... DO: clean your bread bin or cupboard regularly to get rid of mould spores. DONT: use if mould is present! Most packaged bread can be eaten two days to up to a week after the best before date.
