24.01.2022 The hardest part is getting started #cardio

22.01.2022 I LOVE teaching my clients and classes at Vibrant SO MUCH Just had the nicest day of classes and participants I realise they mainly hate having their photo taken so instead of showing a picture or two of the 60-odd faces I've trained, I'll use a happy pic of my scruffy self after Class 1 of 3, taken this morning Big tummy-covering outfit care of @mkm_active ... #groupfitnessinstructor #lovemyjob #lovemyworkplace #proudofmyself #proudofmyclients #workinghardtosupportmyclients #faketan

22.01.2022 Nailed it. Warning, 1000 word essay time: It is disgusting to me the way that some people in the fitness industry continue to propagate body insecurities and facilitate a gym culture that associates exercise and healthy living with looking conventionally attractive and overtly sexual across social media, over functional health and wellness. Embarassingly I used to buy into it as an industry participant and long term it has definitely mucked around with what I see in the mi...rror with myself. Imagine wearing lycra every single day and having clueless clients comment on your weight/appearance openly. Still happens too but these days I do snap back! Speaking candidly I absolutely loathe the fact that some of my industry colleagues resort to preying on their clients' personal insecurities in order to drum up business. I've never had to make a woman feel inadequate in order to pay my bills, I bank my bag by building women up so they can hopefully see their value & their worth Also, if you do want to get 'fitter' or feel healthier for Spring/Summer, the answer is essentially move more & eat less. Which you probably already know how to do. Don't pay mega $$ to be effectively flogged with high impact exercise and starved for 6-12 weeks from trainers that promise unrealistic transformations. Please. The weight never stays off long term and often you cop fatigue, weight gain issues and minor injuries from the frustrating experience. Put your runners on, fire up your own self discipline, get moving and get chopping those salads. Join an affordable gym with a wide variety of different classes, cardio equipment. Get walking/cycling/swimming. It's not impossible to do and to do on your terms. My goal this summer is to get fit to feel great; not to look 'sexy on the beach'.

11.01.2022 How much pressure do you put through your spine? This is a fantastic image which shows the load that is placed on the lumbar disc during various positions. . We... see time and time again that people can undertake a large load carrying exercise in the gym injury free, however at home or their place of employment they injure themselves. For anyone who has had a great trainer you'll hear them remind you of your postural queues; pull your belly button in, remember to breathe, drive through your heels, push your hips back, just to name a few . This eventually becomes a learned behaviour and you no longer need to give yourself a verbal queue. . The same can't be said when you leave the gym. How many of you pick up a heavy box, bent over, legs straight whilst chatting to your colleague? You need to train your brain with these queues whilst out of the gym to protect your spine. . For those of you who work or study at a desk for a large portion of the day, your posture can change the load on your lower spine significantly. If you're lucky enough to have a stand up desk like we have here you can relate to how different your body feels at the end of the day. Think about it, would you sit with yourself on your shoulders? Definitely not so think of this the next time you slump forward at your desk. . Remember you only have one back - you need to look after it. . #keepyourspinehealthy #youonlyhaveonespine #spinehealth #posutre #spinesafety #keepingitreal #kalamundagym #hillshealth #strongerthanyesterday See more
