23.01.2022 Bread and The Sydney Morning Herald came with the mail three times a week.it was always a huge crusty tank loaf wrapped in brown paper and tied with string My love affair with bread was invigorated with a visit to Baker Bleu this morning When travelling I can get tired out with galleries and cathedrals and shopping strips. However it is difficult to walk past a good bakery.... I wanted to open a bakery a few years ago, but I was told that it was difficult to find employees to work as the hours are so gruelling. Only those just out of gaol will work those hours. So I didn’t become a baker. I just want to look in their kitchens. But I do sometimes make simple bread and every mouthful is venerated. See more



22.01.2022 I am very happy with my small borage crop which I planted for the pretty edible flowers. Now have an abundance of fresh leaves for salads and soups and lots of bees enjoying the nectar as well.

20.01.2022 My favourite Greek food in Melbourne is that cooked by Stella at Koutouki Cafe, Richmond. Always a limited, spoken menu - it's what she chooses to cook on the day. At 82, she says "It is not yet the time" to pass on her recipes to her family. They were passed on from her mother and the recipes are still well guarded secrets. I love Koutouki, the closest thing to home cooked food you can get, however it is a little too rustic for some.

18.01.2022 He is weeping.for all of us Needing some fresh air, I took an evening stroll along Swan Street to the Coles. Around 9pm, darkish, cool. As I approached, I passed two men sleeping rough, regulars. Approximately 100 metres apart, they both cuddled the wall. They looked safe enough outside a lit up, late night supermarket, both asleep, under blankets. After purchasing my few items I exited and walked along the pavement.
