24.01.2022 Please read, reflect and respond in your life a y way you can to help.

23.01.2022 Thanks to all our LOS 3183 & 3185 volunteers. Whilst we can't meet yet as a group until regulations permit, your efforts to keep our community litter-free are much appreciated.

23.01.2022 The other Corona (and other brands) plague. Some of today's 4kg of litter.

23.01.2022 Here's one creature our litter collections help protect by stopping litter flowing down the drains into the sea. Thanks Fam.

23.01.2022 Two years ago and again last year, 300+ volunteers from Beach Patrol and Love Our Street groups cleaned litter from the whole of Melbourne's CBD. Whilst our gro...up activities are suspended due to COVID-19, individuals continue to clean their neighbourhoods. If people just made sure there was no litter in front of their homes, workplaces or schools we could protect our own environment and wildlife. See more

22.01.2022 Reduce plastic use whenever you can.

21.01.2022 Thanks to the Beach Patrol and Love Our Street groups who contributed evidence to this report from sites beyond the Yarra. Let's encourage everyone to reduce purchases where polystyrene may be used in packaging and seek recycling of this material. It's everywhere!

21.01.2022 One way to keep fit and help Mother Earth at the same time.

21.01.2022 We're with this guy! (Please forgive his page name)

19.01.2022 An opportunity to learn from a champion.

18.01.2022 Excellent creation from @thetrashtraveler WHAT? A BUTT IS NOT BIODEGRADABLE? SINGLE MOST POLLUTANT IN OUR OCEANS AND RIVERS!!! A cigarette butt is made of... cellulose acetate which is not biodegradable. It takes years to decompose and it got announced to be the single most plastic pollutant in our nature. In addition, it contains lots and lots of toxins which will be rinsed into the nature, water ways and ocean. Think about it.. Smoking is your choice, but why to pollute actively nature? It ends up in fish and you'll eat it again. Yommy. Get yourself a pocket ashtray and carry them to a bin. Thank you! #oceantrash #oceantreasures #trashtag #ditchtheflick #thestoryofplastic #earthdayemcasa #ourplasticfeedback #plastic #recycledplastic #litteract #coastalart #notturtlefood #beachcleanup #trashart #toxic #beachlifestyle #planetheroes #cigarette #sustainabilitymatters #stopmotion #savetheoceans #tenlittlepieces #stopptdiekippenflut See more

18.01.2022 May these new jobs continue until no rubbish washes from our streets into our precious waterways.

17.01.2022 Clean Up Australia Day in Balaclava. Our wonderful volunteers collected over 9 kg in just one hour! Two+ kg each. Imagine if everyone picked up what was just outside their home or business. Thanks team

16.01.2022 A Container Deposit Scheme for Victoria has been a campaign goal for 10 years. Now that it's coming, it must not fall into the hands of beverage companies that so strongly opposed it. Vested interests should not be allowed. Please sign.

16.01.2022 We can still help Mother Nature. If your gutter looks like this, please clean it up to prevent polystyrene being washed down the drains to the sea. It's a horrible material that attracts toxins to itself. Ingested by creatures, it's very harmful.

16.01.2022 Please consider signing.

16.01.2022 Let's see more supermarkets reducing plastic this way!

16.01.2022 Please set aside an hour on Sunday morning 18th Oct, wherever you are. Doesn't have to be Victoria. Download Litter Stopper app and send us a quick report of what you collect. Keep Covid-safe. Please tag a friend, share widely.

15.01.2022 Just checking in with all our wonderful volunteers around the bay and into the suburbs of Melbourne. We hope youre doing fine and staying healthy mentally and... physically. One of the best things about Beach Patrol and Love Our Street is the new friendships that have been forged over the years. We think this is one of the most important parts of what we do, facilitating connections within our neighbourhoods, connections that can be really important at a time like this. We wanted to tell you how much we appreciate all of your efforts and friendship over the past decade and we really look forward to the day when we can get back out there together and continue our work to keep our beaches and streets clean. In the meantime, stay healthy and look after each other, particularly those that are more vulnerable. #wegotthis See more

14.01.2022 It's World Environment Day and the theme is Time for Nature. Hope you get a chance to enjoy what our beautiful planet offers. Give back any way you can.

14.01.2022 Litter will still be around, even though we have suspended our group cleans until COVID19 threat eases. Please use our Litter Stopper app (free download) to report your individual efforts to your nearest Beach Patrol or Love Our Street group.

13.01.2022 End the bottled water rort. Each litre of bottled water takes 4 litres of water to 'make it', requires petrochemicals for the polyethylene, (which takes 450 years to degrade and often ends up in either landfill or the ocean). Plus the bottled water in many cases is no more pure than what comes out of the tap (and is often less pure than water from your rainwater tanks). https://amp-theguardian-com.cdn.ampproject.org//silly-prod

13.01.2022 THANK YOU so much to everyone who participated and cleaned their patch yesterday! It was a huge effort from all across Victoria. A link to a little video from the day below. We've captured a few highlights : 175 people submitted on the LitterStopper App (plus a few overloads!). ... 186 km of road and street were cleaned. 3636 many bottles were collected 649 coffee cups and lids 188 masks and PPE were collected 3029 cigarette butts 357 straws were collected + many other items. We'll use this data to keep advocating for plastic waste reform and recycling across the state - stay up to date via beachpatrol.com.au And, STAY CONNECTED with like-minded people by following Beach Patrol Australia and to find a local clean up group near you or if you'd like to start a new group check out out website. Together we can continue to make our neighbourhoods a better place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoiOSufRzfs&feature=youtu.be

12.01.2022 Want to find out more about the dolphins sometimes spotted off St Kilda Beach? Don't miss Dr Kate's online webinar. It will be fascinating. Here is the link to book your place: www.trybooking.com/BKOYZ

12.01.2022 Join us for Clean Up Australia Day Sunday 1 March 9.30 One hour will make a difference Balaclava Station... Wear clothing and sun protection to suit weather. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult See you there See more

09.01.2022 Though group cleans are suspended during COVID-19, members continue their efforts to protect our environment. Recent rains mean litter has heavily impacted our ...beaches, so our work to remove this menace from our streets means less flows through the storm water system to the sea. Anyone can help us: use our Litter Stopper app to report your individual efforts. Check out our data on litterstopper.com Remember to use gloves, tongs or a reacher, dispose of litter safely and wash your thoroughly. See more

09.01.2022 Refuse plastics whenever you can. Here's one huge reason why. Love Our Street volunteers operate in local communities to raise awareness and to remove litter from our neighbourhoods, supporting our Beach Patrol groups in working to protect our environment.

09.01.2022 Please help keep people safe. Pick up litter wherever you can. Use gloves, tongs and wash hands.

09.01.2022 Here's one way you can help. The Victorian Government has just released discussions on the Container Deposit Scheme. You can access a short video, two survey links and the discussion paper via Engage Victoria, at www.engage.vic.gov.au/container-deposit-scheme Please go on line ad fill these surveys out. We don't want the big bottling companies to take over running the scheme saying they will manage it when they want to sabotage it for their profits. It has to be independently managed.

08.01.2022 In an hour last week we collected over 800 from Balaclava shops and car parks. Smokers please bin your butts.

08.01.2022 Before the rain, before it gets dark, please see if there's litter in front of your place that you can prevent washing down drains and into the sea.

08.01.2022 Protect our waterways and oceans. Individual actions add up to huge changes.

07.01.2022 Today is World Oceans Day. Wherever you are, you can help free our oceans from litter. Please, pick up what you can. Gloves and tongs will keep you safe, while you keep our creatures safe.

06.01.2022 Smokers please carry a portable ashtray.

04.01.2022 City of Port Phillip.... please

03.01.2022 Great news from Western Australia.

02.01.2022 Five hours over two days. Over 9 kg of litter from Ripponlea and Elsternwick streets between Brighton Rd and the railway.

02.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT In light of the Corona virus, BeachPatrol and Love Our Street have decided not to hold any group cleans after this weekend until the public are given the all clear by relevant government agencies. Just today the Federal government urged no gatherings greater than 500. The spread of the virus has to be limited as much as possible. Avoiding groups of people getting together is one important way. We want all our members to stay healthy so we can get back t...o cleaning after this period has passed. In the meantime the litter will not stop and we still want to keep pressure on authorities about the size of the problem. We encourage members to still do their own cleans. Your collection data is still important and you can enter it on our app called LitterStopper. It's free to download from the app store. Select Standard BeachPatrol/LOS clean as the clean type. Then enter the data as prompted. T The data will stored on a central website. See www.litterstopper.com/emaildata. You can review it and also see what other people are finding on their cleans. Dont forget, after a clean wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Hope to see you all at our community cleans once this has passed. Thank you BeachPatrol and Love Our Street Virus-free. www.avast.com
