25.01.2022 In case you don't know - Step-Panther are pretty much brilliant. Sure I'm presently dancing around in my chair at the office. Maybe I'm getting weird looks from everyone else. What of it. These guys make music that makes you just want to do something. Yeah. Fight like a knight.

21.01.2022 There's every possibility that this song may actually set your soul on fire. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE. Amazing stuff from Kira Puru & the Bruise.

21.01.2022 We stumbled across Founds recently and love their stuff. They are touring with Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! soon. You can catch them at The Workers Club on June 22. Founds have a really brilliant and interesting sound, from the intenseness of the building brass to the ethereal vocal layering, it all amounts to some kind of beautiful synth driven pop folk.

20.01.2022 In case you didn't know Heavy Beach are fricken amazing, one of my favourite acts in Melbourne at the moment. And if you know me you know that's a tough call and a big rep. This band is so good it hurts. Their launching their single at Yah Yah's August 10. Make sure your there. Seriously, these guys are brilliant. (I'm sorry normally I'd like to describe them far more eloquently but I'm so taken the only word I can find is amazing).

19.01.2022 Talking things and stuff about BIGSOUND. Featuring the likes of Gung Ho, The Art Of Sleeping, KING CANNONS, Ball Park Music, Oh Mercy and Something For Kate. Stay tuned for Part Two which will pretty much just be us talking about our absolute highlight of Bigsound - The Growl. We promise we will try and squeeze in some other music related things too, whilst actually finishing our recap of the first day.

17.01.2022 Today's tunes are kicking up some great ones. Lets run through what we've got blasting through our ears. First up - a song I've posted before but nethertheless seems to work well as today's soundtrack. The beautifully theatrical and intricate Brown Paper Bag by Bridezilla. "Need a distraction, go find a distraction."

15.01.2022 Hey there everyone! So, we're looking at putting on a bunch of gigs over the coming months, all around Melbourne. Any suggestions who we should get on board?

13.01.2022 We're after some people to model for our side project, that is about to get started - We.Loved Vintage. If you think you can help us out let us know! Thanks everyone.

10.01.2022 When I went to Canada in 2011 I fell in love with an amazing band called Pepper Rabbit. In the midst of the cold and snow I found something to hold on to and connect with that I never forgot. Everything seemed better for having known their music. Apparently at some point I let their music and the memory of how much it meant to me in that moment of time slip away from me as I’ve only gone looking for them now to find out they broke up In December. Xander from the band posted a... very long piece about the band on their facebook but I think the most important parts for everyone to gander at are below. You don’t have to know or care who Pepper Rabbit are to appreciate what’s being said. Just remember everyone deserves a chance AND happiness. Not many people take chances on other people, let alone themselves. I never took a chance on myself until Pepper Rabbit. And I am thankful everyday that I've learned to take a chance on myself. One more "in summation". It's very hard to be an "indie band" these days. You spend 100% of your time trying to get the band to another level, 75% of the time on tour losing money, and the rest of your time in either complete elation, or complete doubt. So I urge your all to support your friend's bands, support your favorite bands. Support bands that you don't even like, because everyone deserves the time of day, everyone deserves your respect until the proven otherwise. Everyone deserves a chance, so give it to them, it doesn't take much effort. It doesn't take much effort to help people explore their passion. And that counts for life, not just music. At the end of the day, bands break up for many reasons, and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter why. All that matter is the music. Remember that. Support each other, respect each other, and be kind to one another. If you do that, there is no way you can find yourself unhappy. And in the end of the day, your happiness is the most important thing. So be happy. I'm happy. It's not as difficult as it may seem.

09.01.2022 When the Arctic Monkeys first album came out I was young and dumb and musically unaware. Only one of those things has changed. 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' was pretty rad thou. And is still the fastest selling debut album by a band in the UK ever. Even better than it is if you can find it is their demos on 'Beneath the Boardwalk'. This album was amazing to me at the time, and still kicks it for me now. So for a second, pretend its 2006 and be young and dumb again.

08.01.2022 What else are we listening to today you ask. We're reliving the past and listening to the only song we heard on repeat throughout our childhood. Apparently repetition works. It's still a brilliant song, with a very deep story. I just don't want to hear anyone learning to play it on guitar again. Here is Harry Chapin's - Cats in the Cradle.

08.01.2022 Normally I write about music. Today I didn't. I didn't think I could easily sum up the way Jill Meagher's disappearance made me and the whole city feel. Apparently, I was right, it wasn't an easy thing to say. I ended up taking two pages to describe how sad and angry I am. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. No words will make this better but know we are all thinking of you. ... And to everyone please remember not to speculate about the accused as this is still an open investigation, and any remarks that may jeopardise the presumption of innocence can ultimately pervert the course of justice.

08.01.2022 We've been lax. We know it, you know it, and we've both been avoiding talking about it. It's cool thou. We're breaking the awkward silence with awkward noises. Yeah. We're back.

08.01.2022 'They've always said the sky would fall Now it is you have to wonder why'

07.01.2022 The Vasco Era are one of our favourite Australian bands and one of the best live bands we've seen. And anyone who knows us has heard us say that far to many times before by now. Which is why we're super excited that Vasco are putting on one last HUGE gig for the year. However we are equally as disheartened that THIS IS THEIR LAST SHOW FOR THE YEAR. Apparently they just don't love us anymore. Bastards. Anyway, as with every Vasco gig, it will be ridiculously good, with both th...e band and the crowd throwing themselves around the room in a big sweaty mess singing along to every word. If you haven't seen these guys live you are missing out on something brilliant. So head yourself down to Corner Hotel June 22. Here's a taster a what to expect. IT WILL BE LOUD, and there damn well better be stage invasions.

04.01.2022 Hunting Grounds. They used to be Howl. They used to be the loudest sweatiest consistenly half naked band going around. I remember a gig at the Corner Hotel where they played a violent looking game of stacks on while continuing to play their instruments. I'm not going to say it was the best playing at that point but it looked fricking wild. Their drummer was in his underwear by this point and proceeded to smash part of the drum kit over his own head. Needless to say it was a pretty epic gig. They've 'calmed down' or 'grown up' or however you want to put it now. But not in a bad way, their music is a bit more controlled and refined but still pretty damn rad. There's just a lot less stuff getting smashed now. Check out their latest effort, Flaws.

04.01.2022 Another song banging around in our eardrums is Coffin Scratch by St Helens. It feels like a seedy morning in Melbourne's winter. Like the grogy walk to get coffee in the cold, the morning after the night before, trying to piece together what happened and whose shirt your wearing. It's like a winter version of Beach House. Coffin Scratch is house parties and cigarette butts, its empty bottles of whiskey and a million sepia photos. Thank you St Helens.

01.01.2022 Were super excited to be headed off to see the every lovely ALPINE on Sunday at Corner Hotel. We've seen them a fair few times since then but here is one of our favourite gigs of 2010 - Alpine at the Northcote Social Club *the shakey camera work is entirely our fault.
