20.01.2022 Fishing and weather report for the Tweed, Gold Coast and parts of the bay. We wind and swells playing the game now, the rain is now playing hard ball. Mixed re...sults this week in estuary and offshore. Working the right tides have been critical in the estuary. Where the wind is dictating the catch rates offshore. The rain will be the only thing stopping people this weekend. But for the angler that doesn’t mind getting wet. Fishing the right tides, wind and areas will pay off. * Ants pick* offshore first thing tomorrow morning. Tow, float line baits and peg stick baits for Mack’s. With the southerlies today and light southerlies predicted for tomorrow, the Mac Daddy’s should be on the chew especially with the early high tide and at day break. Wind: Sat: 12kts of S will peak @ 17kts of S in the arvo. Sat: 2kts of SW will swing to 6kts of N in the arvo. Mon: 7kts of NNW will peak @ 11kts of NNE In the late arvo. Tue: 7kts of NW will peak @ 11kts of NNE in the arvo. Wed: 3kts of WSW will swing to N late morn and peak @ 8kts of NE in the late arvo. Thur: 3kts of WSW will swing and will peak @ 8kts of NE in the arvo. Fri: 7kts of N will peak @ 10kts of NE in the arvo. Swell: Sat: 1-2ft of E @ 9sec Sun:2ft of ESE @ 8sec Mon: 2ft of ESE @ 8sec Tues: 2ft of ESE @ 7sec Wed: 1-2ft of ESE @ 7sec Tides for Tweed bar: Sat: 5:59am 1.5m H 12:35pm 0.7m L Sun: 7:06am 1.6mH 1:37pm 0.5mL Mon: 8:04am 1.7mH 2:28pm 0.4mL Tue: 8:56am 1.8mH 3:13pm 0.3mL Wed: 9:45am 1.8mH 3:56pm 0.3mL Thur: 10:31am 1.9mH 4:35pm 0.2mL Fri: 11:15am 1.8mH 5:18pm 0.2mL Major bite times for Tweed: * Rating * Sat: 2fish 7:11am - 9:11am Sun: 1fish 8:09am - 10:09am Mon: 1fish 9:09am - 11:09am Tue: 2fish 10:06am - 12:06pm Wed: 2fish 11:03am - 1:03pm Thur: 1fish 11:58am - 1:58pm Fri: 2fish 12:51pm - 2:51pm Day/night temps and rain: Sat: 20 - 25 95% of 30-80mm Sun: 20 - 28 85% of 15-35mm Mon: 21 - 29 70% of 5-15mm Tue: 21 - 29 70% of 1 - 10mm Wed: 20 - 29 50% of 1 - 5mm Thur: 20- 28 50% of 1 - 5mm Fri: 21-28 50% of 1 - 5mm Moon: waxing gibbous Sat: 73% Sun: 82% Mon: 91% Tue: 96% Wed: 99% Thur: 100% Fri: 97% UV: Sat: 11.6 Sun: 11.2 Mon: 11.3 Tues: 10.9 Barometric pressure @ 1015hpa Offshore: Bit of a mixed results this week out there. Some days fishing well others producing nothing. The winds are really predicting the results. Look for the southerlies for best results. The Mack’s are still out there. Stick baits/ poppers, Floating baits, live slimmies and trolled baits catching the spanyds where floating baits, trolled pilchards and metals are catching the spotties. Try Burleigh, palmy, mermaid, tweed and reefs south of the boarder for best results. But watch out for those bloody cuda’s. I had 4 at 9 mile yesterday and they make it hard to get your baits to the spanyds. With the water temp sitting around 25- 26 there has been A few packs of yellow fin in close with the odd pack of Mack tuna hanging off the back of them. Look for birds working, bait skipping and barrels flying. Metals and skirts working best. Still the odd black, Dollie and wahoo out wider in that blue water. Look for current lines and floating debris. But this rain will send them deep. Still mixed reefies on most close reefs. Drift baiting and plastics working best. Odd cobia around the close reefs. Try a soaking live bait on any of the close reefs. For a bit of a head shaking battle.best Baits for cobia are pike, small Bonnie’s, yakkas and slimmies and they are found on most close reefs at the moment. Try Kirra for Bonnie’s, yakkas and pike. Try palmy, desal, snapper and bait grounds off Kirra for slimmies, Bonnie’s and yakkas. Bay: Lots of good mixed bags of reefies taken this week in the northern bay. Drift lining, plastics and small live baits working well. Odd pack of tuna out in the bay off harries. Look for them to be working packs of bait. A quick cast with a plastic or small metal and you should feel the burn. A few big sharks around this week. Wello, the port and around the channels nears straddy. Reports of sandies running along straddy near Mcleay. Reports of the odd squid out there this week. North side and around the bay islands. Orange jigs smashing a few. Muddies moving around on the filling moon and with the rain around. Get those pots in. Try the mangrove lines, drains, rock walls and weed banks. Prawns: Still in the pine and Cabo. But reports they have thinned out and they have moved out to the mouths more. Still odd patches at deep water bend. But watch the cars. But the south side is starting to fire up. Good size but hard work in the deep water at the salt worx, but they have been there for the last few days and the size of the of the prawn makes it worth while. They should come on through the bay islands and right down to Jacobs well in the next couple of weeks. Especially with this rain. Estuary: The jacks are still chewing but working the right spot in the right tides have been crucial in landing those red dogs this week. The bigger models are still being caught of a night on live and dead baits. But artificial’s are still working well during the day. Targeting drains, weirs and run offs with artificial’s over the next couple of day will produce some good fish. Fishing the lower section of the systems on the right tides and structure with live and dead baits of a night will be put you on to the larger models. Lots of bait in the upper section of the Nerang and Coomera. Which is making it hard for jack fishing. But easy to get bait. In saying that some good trevally, flathead, bream, cod and even grunter taken in the upper reachers of most systems. Try and match the hatch for best results. But blades, plastics and vibes all fishing well. Still a few whiting around. Try the holes and deeper water with small blades, worms and yabbies for a good feed of diver whiting. Where a well worked surface lure will see you onto a few nice yellow fin whiting over the flats. Odd flathead around the river mouths. Vertically jigging Larger plastics working well. Trevally still around the bridges of a night that hold herring. Work the light lines for best results. Muddies on the move this week and they are full. Working the filling moon and the bigger tides with this rain should see a lot of crabs moving around and feeding up. Get them pots out and into those drains, mangrove lines, around the weed beds and rock walls. Odd sandy around this week too. Try out in the main channels and around weed beds that drop off into deeper water. Beaches: Have been fishing well after the shake up from Oma. Fishing the deeper gutter, rock walls and head lands have been producing a good mixed bag of tailor, bream, trevally, dart, Bonnie’s, Mack tuna and whiting. Whiting mainly I the gutters in worms and yabbies. Tailor, dart, Bonnie’s, Mack tuna and trevs mainly off the head lands. Sweet water: The bass have still been munching out on the dam. Timber in 3-5m still fishing the best. Vibes, spinner baits, jig spins, plastics and deep diving hardz working well. Still a few toga being caught. Surface lures working best in the sheltered coves. Some good bass and lots of pests being caught this week in the upper rivers and creeks of the GC. Bass on surface lure at dusk and dawn and pests mainly on worms, grubs, dough, bread, corn and small lures. On behave of the FFGC crew we wish everyone a safe and fishing fun weekend. If you do get out catching or have any questions on anything fishy or the weather send us a message and we will help you out the best we can. Send your catches via a message and we will post them up and add them to the weekly report. Know your limits and don’t push your luck. Stay safe, have fishing fun and tight lines. Thanks AntFFGC.

20.01.2022 Fishing and weather report for the Tweed, Gold Coast and parts of the bay. Well it’s looking pretty good this weekend and most of the week. No swell and the wi...nds are southerly at the moment, but will swing north on Sunday. Bad new for offshore fishos but good news for jack hunters. The sweet water fishos are loving the barometric pressure of late. It’s been up around that 1020hpa most of the week. *Ants pick* with the northerlies on the way on Sunday and midnight high tides. Soaking live baits for red dogs will be the go this week. Until it swings back southerly. Large live baits with heavy gear around heavy structure will give you tears. Tears of joy when landing good reds or heart ache on loosing a few. But they will fire up this week of a night. Wind: Sat: 3kts of SW @ the moment. Will peak @ 10kts of NNE late this arvo and hang all night. Sun: 12kts of NNW will peak @ 18kts of N late arvo. Mon: 12kts of NNW will stay above 10kts of N all day. Tue: 15kts of NNW will hang all day. Wed: 10kts of SSE will peak @ 18kts of SE mid arvo. Thur: 10kts of SE will hang all day. Fri: 7kts of SSE will peak @ 12kts ESE in the arvo. Swell: Sat: 2ft of ESE @ 8sec Sun:2ft of ESE @ 8sec Mon: 1-2ft new ENE @ 8sec Tues: 1-2ft of ENE @ 7sec Wed: 1-2ft of NNE @ 7sec Tides for Tweed bar: Sat: 4:51am 0.5m L 11:26pm 1.6mH Sun: 5:38am 0.5mL 11:56am 1.5mH Mon: 6:08am 0.6mL 12:38pm 1.5mH Tue: 6:55am 0.6mL 1:03pm 1.4mH Wed: 7:53am 0.7mL 1:49pm 1.3mH Thur: 9:09am 0.8mL 2:57pm 1.2mH Fri: 10:42am 0.7mL 4:29pm 1.1mH Major bite times for Tweed: * Rating * Sat: 4 fish 1:43pm -3:43pm Sun: 3 fish 2:27pm - 4:27pm Mon: 3fish 2:56pm - 4:56pm Tue: 2 fish 3:40am - 5:40am Wed: 1fish 4:50am - 6:50am Thur: 1fish 5:20am - 7:20am Fri: 2fish 6:14am - 8:14am Day/night temps and rain: Sat: 21- 29 25% of 1mm Sun: 21-30 10% of 1mm Mon: 22-31 20% of 1mm Tue: 22-31 15% of 1mm Wed: 22-30 30% of 1mm Thur: 21-29 55% of 1mm Fri: 21-28 65% of 1mm Moon: waxing crescent Sat: 7% Sun: 13% Mon: 21% Tue: 30% Wed: 40% Thur: first quarter 50% Fri: 62% UV: Between 10.9 and 11.7 all week. Barometric pressure @ 1021hpa. Offshore: Well the spanyds have been on the chew this week. Reports of good numbers from Burleigh to Byron. Troll baits and stick baits around the bombies working best. Pro boats bagging out the last few days. Odd spotties around palmy and mermaid. Floating baits such as half pillies working best. But they are still far and few between. Still some blacks, dollies, wahoo and yellows out wider. Try the 50’s and 36fathom lines. Floating debris holding some nice smaller schools of dollies but the bigger bulls are in the current lines. Some solid mixed reefies still being caught this week. Drift lining, plastics and small jigs working on most reefs out to the 36fathoms. Bait such as pike, Bonnie’s, yakkas and slimmies on most close reefs. Try Kirra for Bonnie’s, yakkas and pike. Try palmy, desal, snapper and bait grounds off Kirra for slimmies, Bonnie’s and yakkas. Bay: The bay has had some great mixed reefies taken this week. Float lining, plastics and small jigs working well on the deeper reefs, artificial reefs and FAD’s in the bay. Odd threddie and Mulloway in the port of brissy. Odd pack of tuna out around harries. Whiting still up in the rous channel and flathead around the bay islands in the skinny water. Prawns: They have seemed to have gone real patchy at the moment with the large tides. The pine and Caboolture still have patches. But they have seemed to have moved out the front of these rivers now. Odd patch on the south side and down to Jacobs well. But still no real number. The smaller tide next week should turn them on again. But think outside the box to score the better patches. Estuary: The jacks will fire this week with the northerlies and the high barometric pressure. Large live baits at night around heavy structure on the filling tides will be the go. They aren’t fussy at this time of year too. So even large dead baits and fillets will still work well. I like to soak a whole fillet and a large live bait at this time of year. You will find they will hit both and it’s hard to choose between one from the other. Still some good trevally around. Mainly of a night and around the bridges that hold bait. Try working herring shaped and profile plastics or even a live herring for best results. Working your surface lures during the day and around the lakes on the canals will also produce as well. Still a few whiting around. Try the deeper holes on the run out tides with worms, yabbies and small prawn blades. A few bigger flathead starting to push up in to the skinny water now. Working 3-5inch plastics trolling 65mm - 150mm hardz working best this week. Odd mixed smaller reefies in the deeper shale channels in the broady this week. Try blades, drift baits and tinny jigs for best result. Beware if your crabbing the Nerang. A pot thief has been lifting pots and sterling pots in the Nerang. So heads up. Beaches: Are finally fishing well again after Oma gave them a shake up. Look for the deeper beach gutters and channels around head lands and rock walls. Fishing these spots with pilchards, yabbies, worms, white bait, hardz, plastics and metals are producing dart, bream, flathead, whiting and trevally. Sweet water: With the barometric pressure sitting in that optimum range. The bass have been firing. Most dams, creeks and upper river have been cooking this week. Surface lures at dusk and dawn, jig spins, spinner baits, hardz, vibes and plastics all fishing well once the sun is established. If fishing the dam. Look for structure in that 3-5m of water for the bigger bass and spinner baits and jig spins up in the timber for toga. A few twig being taken this week out at hinze. So Take advantage with the pressure so high. On behave of the FFGC crew we wish everyone a safe and fishing fun weekend. If you do get out catching or have any questions on anything fishy or the weather send us a message and we will help out. Send your catches via a message and we will post them up or help you out the best we can. Know your limits and don’t push your luck. Stay safe, have fishing fun and tight lines. Thanks AntFFGC.
